Chevychuck,---I like the old organ donor, Lazarus effect, process.---Just shows you those old Chicoms are worth keeping around for something.

Don't have much info about those Circle D's.---You can find another one on Page 162,--Post 3238.---Also find discussion on the Circle D in the----[Another Vise ID Help - "D" Vise],---- thread.

VA, what is your secret recipe for searching? This is an incredibly big thread with closing in on 1300 pages. You have a knack for finding posts and pictures; are you using the GJ search, Google, Bing.....how are you doing it? :headscrat

Cheers Balane, might be getting one or two soon and fancied painting them the right colour.

All the pictures I could find looked to have been repainted.

Dang, I didn't even see that brochure. I just tried saving and blowing up the pics, but I can't make out any of the weights/sizes. Maybe whoever bought it will scan and post it up.

I know some of you really like Reeds...

Listed on Ebay as "Vintage Reed DP-50 Bench Machinist Vise..."

$99.00 Buy It Now---with free shipping...

Has 5" jaws...

I didn't know Reed made these, but what I don't know would fill the ocean...

No recipe, no secret.---I just use the vise index in the----[Vice Repair 101], thread.---Starts on page 2, then jumps to page 5, then jumps to page 22.

Heres another vise Im working on. When I got it one of the mounting ears was broken off. So I took my old chinese vise and cut the anvil portion off of it, then shaped it too match the others with my bench grinder. I preheated the pieces in the oven then welded them together with my mig. Ive still got a little more shaping to do to make it match the others then drill the mounting hole.

Interesting idea. Can't wait to see the finish product. Still can't believe that Dayton was broke in shipping. I was in such nice shape on line. Had to make you just sick when you opened it up... Did the seller ever help you out?

Here's one you don't see every day.---A Prentiss Parker Bulldog.:eyecrazy:

Just confirms what I've always suspected.---Some of these major players collaborated from time to time.;)

I think that's a plain old Number 19 swivel jaw. The bulldogs didn't have swivel jaws as far as I know. I also believe that Parker bought Prentiss at some point in time.

Now, about that price. I got a Number 19 from eBay in the same condition, minus the swivel jaw pin, for less than $40 and that included shipping. It's a nice vise, but at over $250? Pass!

I'll agree... That's a later model No 19. The lettering and pin on side makes it a newer model. I got mine for $30 IIRC

Have a good one, Gerard

Wait!! Second chance. He still has the China vise available for $30.

I'm expecting a refund at any minute. I did send him a note previously to relist that vise. I'll see what happens

As usual, I have the best intentions of hopefully selling it so one of our members that lives close by or handing someone a crisp $50 to get it and box it up. I would pay shipping on top of that of coarse.

VA: i agree with McB that the Prentiss #19 isn't a Parker. or tell us why you think so. also since it's only a 4 inch wide jaw and the back slide has a crack in it i'd say $50 to $75 at best for it.

I think you best keep looking for the golden calf.

cheers

Autopts: so the ex wife wont ship the $10 Wilton and nobody wants to risk their life heading into the Bronx? it did look good on paper though.

CW: so do you try to buy a vise a day?? you've shown some great vises since you joined our forum and this thread.

Lol, I think it's more I try every day to NOT buy a vice :p

Those last two I posted pictures of aren't mine but I am about to buy one of each type.

I've agreed a price on a few vices that I will be collecting soon once myself and the seller can agree a time......

What color should I go with for my Columbian vise restore? Light Grey with teal letters/numbers. Light blue/black letters/numbers, or black, with teal letters/numbers. Help me to decide! Thanks.

millipede, Go with the color you mentioned in your first post.
Light Grey with teal letters/numbers. You could spend days looking at different color combos on this vise thread and still wish you had done it in another color.
