My wife and I returned home from a 10-day trip to Texas for an RV rally on Monday to have my son tell me that his truck is making a noise and he thinks it is coming from the A/C compressor clutch. Sure enough, the bearing is going out. My local NAPA dealer showed two clutches listed so I had them get both and I would return the one I didn't use.

I had to make this a quick job and get his truck out of the shop because I have a 2009 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon coming in tonight that I need to build the axles and regear. Of course after getting the compressor clutch off neither of the clutches were correct. I called my local GM dealership and gave them the VIN # only to find out that the Delphi compressor clutch is no longer available and especially not the bearing. But I could purchase a new compressor.:dunno:

I chucked the hub up in the lathe and machined the small retaining dimples from the inside lip and pressed the bearing out. I then found a replacement bearing and ordered it which it will be here tomorrow so I can press it back and and get his truck up and running. So things didn't go as planned last night but at least there is a game plan and it is put into action.:willy_nil

Tonight I need to wash the last 2200 miles off of the coach as we drove through every weather condition in the past 10 days.:eyecrazy:

I got the legs and outer bottom frame built on my workbench, only to decide I may want to make the bench a little deeper. Oops. :lol_hitti

Made a rack for my air tools inspired by GJ, of course.

Nice rack! Gave me an idea for some of my own tools.

attacked the surface rust on the "new to me" work bench. Used a flappy disk and still didn't do the best job. They had a thin layer of particle board on top of the steel top and used some sort of glue to attach it. That caused pieces to stick to the table along with gobs of dried up glue.
hmmmmm, maybe some alcohol and a match will burn it off.

I like it, but around here those open chucks would be immediately plugged by mud dauber wasps. (They plug every open hole.) Does anyone know of a way to easily cover those openings so they can't get in?

Try these..... Available at Amazon and many others.

Last night I pressure washed the red Texas mud/road spray off from the underside of my coach from our RV rally. I think we drove through every possible weather scenario getting there and the coach showed it. I stuck the generator out the front, opened the engine bay, battery bay and fuel tank/propane tank bay and pressure washed the hell out of followed by a thorough cleaning of the body. She looks presentable again. Now to tackle the Jeep in the same manner when I get some time.

Let me be the first to say with all due respect, YOU ****!

Anyone that has a Nomad - in any condition - when I'd give up nearly all I have for one makes me green with envy!

Thanks you made me laugh this morning, I have been working on it for seven years, it has c4 corvette suspension.

I been cleaning on the garage so I can walk around in it. Things have been jammed up for a little while, and I got tired of tripping over things, so it was time to get things back in order

Absolutely! Yes, we were in the Mesquite campground in Palo Duro Canyon. I had the 40' Dynasty with the rvforum.net flag hanging in my windshield and black Jeep Wrangler 4-door parked in front of it. We were parked right next to the 43' American Eagle with the large full-width, full windshield rally plaque in their windshield.

Wish you would have stopped by, I love meeting people from the forums and being able to put a face with a name.

Were you there for any particular reason or just driving through? I thought I remembered seeing a newer red F150 drive through while we were having happy hour one afternoon, and yes it was muddy after all of that rain. It took me most of the night to get the coach clean and I haven't even had time to touch the Jeep yet. Beautiful area though.

Mike.

On edit, those were some wicked storms that ran through the panhandle last week. Is that normal for that area? I have never seen thunder/lightening storms like that, kind of unnerving. Especially on Saturday afternoon when we were under tornado watch. I had to ask what the difference was between a watch and warning.:eyecrazy: Several members of the rally bailed early afternoon when the watch was announced but we pulled the slides in and hunkered down. It was beautiful about an hour and a half after the storm but I was nervous during. My wife asked the rally hosts "haven't you ever seen the movies, the tornados always hit the mobile home parks first, that is all we are sitting here is a big target." They laughed and thought it was funny but I think my wife was legitimately asking.:scared:

According to accuweather: http://www.accuweather.com/en/weather-news/the-difference-between-tornado-1/61817

A watch is issued when conditions are favorable

Warnings mean that severe weather is imminent and is based on specific criteria and existing reports received by the NWS.

That said... the possibility of being damaged by a tornado is very low. There are certain places (like Moore, Ok) that seem to get hit quite often. Nobody knows why.

That is all well and wonderful, however to someone from a mountainous state like Utah that doesn't worry about tornados, it is a bit unnerving to hear such terms.:scared: Trust me, when I heard the terms I immediately found out the meanings and the criteria for each, I just wasn't expecting to have to research such things on vacation.:)

Mike, I was just enjoying the afternoon and since it is only 15 minutes out, I go out there once or twice a week. I was driving a black FX-4..The weather has been a little wild this spring, but it is welcome, We have been in deep drought for several years, We are now 7 inches ahead of normal rainfall.
I saw the banner and a group was standing outside Your RV and a Harley was parked right there. I almost stopped to ask what part of Utah, as I lived in Blanding and SLC.
Small world, eh?
I love Palo Duro Canyon, and I spent most of My youth climbing all over the Canyon, exploring the caves and playing in the red muddy water.
I always buy a season pass, $60 for a year unlimited access.
Too bad You missed TEXAS, the Drama.
As far as weather, a tornado has never gone into the Canyon in recorded history, they skip over it-
the folks that bailed should have stayed put.
BTW, My very first job, ever, was at the Sad Monkey Railroad when I was a kid. 60 cents an hour!:3gears:

Sorry we were so close and yet missed getting to meet. The rally will be in Texas again next year but they are leaning towards Big Bend NP instead. For the past 6 years it had been in Moab, Utah which is my back yard so really close (4 hour drive). This was just over 1k miles one way for the wife and I but we loved it.

My wife and I were the only Utahn's there. We had two couples from Australia, people from Texas, Nevada, Arizona, North Carolina and Florida in attendance. All in all a great rally and the hosts had some fun activities planned. My wife and I were the hosts for the Moab rally last year. Hosting is not all people think it is. Hard to make everyone happy, but it is easier with this group of easy going people.

Mike, I hear ya on that one. Here in Rochester we get snow and cold and wind, but rarely tornados, hurricanes, earthquakes, etc.

Was in Norman OK a few years ago for a training session. Sitting at the desk in my room on my laptop at 1 AM or so on a Sunday morning. All of a sudden the desk starts shaking, the chair starts shaking (with 225 lbs of me in it), the closet doors start shaking....

I was in the outside end room on the 4th floor of a freestanding wing of the hotel. First thing I figured was a bus got caught under the drive through below me. Shaking kept going. I figured time to abandon ship. I ran down the hall looking over my shoulder figuring I would be watching the thing collapse behind me!!!

It was the aftershock of an Earthquake about 70 miles away!

Took the snow plow and chains off the tractor, and put the loader and scraper back on.

IMG_5613-M.jpg

I have a buyer lined up for it. Hopefully the deal will close so I can move forward with my next tractor rebuild project.

Change the oil and plug on my Dewalt/Honda Pressure Washer, tuned up the Stihl leaf blower by cleaning and lubing the carb mech, gave the GF's care a interior detail and then fired up said leaf blower to blow out some dirt and dust on the floor.

That is a pretty slick looking little tractor Steevo but what is it? It sort of looks like a Wheelhorse but then..not really! :eyecrazy:

Spent the entire day working on the Puma and made some decent progress. :D
Finished all the glass work and painted the engine compartment and trunk gray with a speckle finish. Way better than the black that it originally had. I also put the front beam back together and put all the engine tin on so it will be ready to put back in this weekend. :rocker: Soon I will have the car back on the ground and purring (pun intended):3gears:

Worked on the cabinets installing door tracks, painting and trim work. The door material finally arrived so I was able to get some installed on the cabinet I built last week.
