Can someone please explain to me what a torque stick is and how it works?

A torque stick is used for limiting the torque transferred from an impact wrench to the attached socket. It works by twisting and then springing back rather than transferring the entire torque. They come in different diameters and colors for different torque ratings.

They are commonly used to quickly tighten wheels in tire shops.

What he said

Ruger, where did you get the torque stick? I didn't realize you could get just the shaft extension with no socket. Is it 1" or 3/4"?

It's a 3/4 drive, if I can avoid the 1" gun I do... Amazon had the best price.

Hit a nice yard sale today, someone selling off diesel mech stuff, lots of BIG stuff.

This thing is a monster, 1" drive 1000 ft/lbs complete w/SO 30" handle and metal case, no clue what I'll do w/it or if it's worth anything but for $25 I didn't think I could go wrong:

Mostly SK with a bit of Mac and Snap On mixed in on the red thing, an almost complete set of SK universals, and an almost complete set of older Snap Ons, $45

And a couple dozen brand new Morse taps, $5 (never heard of them, they're USA) :rocker:

Sunex and Grey Pneumatic make great stuff. Almost like you can't say one and not mention the other haha. I'd definitely buy their impact products in a heartbeat.
I can't say enough good about grey pneumatic. I bought a a standard and metric set of impact sockets when I was working on heavy equipment daily. Never had a failure.

I picked this up at a garage sale today.

A Milwaukee 6232-21. Brand new, never even been out of the box. Still has the little protector on the plug.

Swung by sears for the first time in a real long time and picked up a few things on sale. Got a couple of magnetic pick up tools, a pocket LED light like EZ Red hawks, and one of those new Craftsman extreme grip ratchets. The ratchet was on sale for $14.99 and after they took off some surprise points, it was a whooping $9.19
Now it's not going to make me give up my Carlyle or Gearwrench ratchets but, for nine bucks and change, why not. :dunno:
it has a nice 72 tooth action and I'm digging the satin finish. Yes, it hails from Taiwan. For $16 out the door, I was happy:beer:

I've got several.. where I grew up we called these "church keys".. don't really know why.. I'll have to google and report back..

The vintage look of days gone by when true recycling meant taking bottles back to the store to be sent to the bottler to be cleaned and refilled.... I wonder if has taken a look at what it takes to melt glass back down vs the cost and energy to simply clean and reuse...? Hummm....

According to several reports....

. because it looked like the keys the monks kept tied to their belt/garment
.. and many monasteries brewed their own beer and other beverages
. as a joke due to the duality between church and drinking alcoholic beverages

I am getting ready to replace a Governor Position Sensor for a friend's 2002 Ram pickup and went to the big city (population 7K) to look for a new T-handled Torx set and couldn't find one anywhere. Checked Lowes, Autozone, Oreilly's and then hit Tractor Supply and didn't have any better luck but I saw this Gearwrench ratcheting wrench set for $21. Not really a great deal price wise but they seem to be well made and I'll get a lot of use out of them.

I have an old retirement account that I could have taken out as a lump sum for about 50% of its value (I would have gotten about 7K) or I could take it out at $100 a month for the full 14K value which is what I chose to do and so I use the $100 as walking around money and I try to pickup a tool here or there out of it (hopefully the fund won't go belly up before I get my full 14K). These wrenches are this months choice!

MagnunForce,

What's your first impression of this tool.
I'm interested, but didn't find any review.
It's well built, nothing earth shattering. Will fill a niche when I am fitting pipe and don't want to get dope on my pliers wrench.

Finally snagged a Dewalt set. With points it was less than $95. It's a great set. So much is included. Also have some good stuff from Sears and Advance.

What kind of light is that in your first picture?

Actually, I figured it out. It's an Astro Pneumatic 12SL. I forgot that I had seem them from Matco at double the price. Found them on Amazon for ~$68 for anyone else that might be interested. They seem pretty sweet, I might have to get one.
