That's exactly what I needed to know, since the Trusty Cook and Estwings seem identical, but didn't know if there was a connection there.

Based off of images on their respective websites, I'd say that Trusty Cook is still the OEM for Matco & Cornewell on their deadblow ball peen hammers as well.

I've been looking at that Vessel clip remover - trying to decide between it and the set of two PB Swiss clip removers. I'd appreciate your (or other) thoughts on it.

I got the Vessel one to replace the Ko-ken set I have for underbody clips and use the Ko-ken ones for interior clips only as they're hard to keep clean with them bazillion ******* on the handles.
The Vessel has a wider, stepped fork but access is usually better on the underbody than the more confined spaces in the interior.
I've looked at the Baumanns as well since they can be had rather cheap from some motor factors on the continent but chose the Vessel because it's one tool for both sizes - and it fits in with my other Mega-dora drivers. :D

Pawn shop find yesterday snap on 1/2 mm impact swivels $200. The Sioux 1/2drill was $90 and the grip on chain grippers were $15 for the two.

I know Craftsman isn't the most popular on here, but I got the two USA NOS Spinners for 16 shipped and the USA bit wrenches for free at a yardsale.

Scored this yesterday. Not a tool but who cares. Hotwheels cames out with a "MAC" tools car. Dig through your 99 cent cars at ur local wal mart

Who knows?
What kind of car is that? Was it an actual production car or just something Hot Wheels came up with?

Almost reminds me of a Duesenberg.

The car is called a great gatspeed. It is something that hotwheels came out a with.
This model however is a new casting I'm almost positive

Gotcha. Nice play on words. It would be cool if they did make a full line of truck brand Hotwheels cars. Or better yet, if they actually came out with the tooltrucks themselves.

^^ Been seeing you guys mention Tekton more and more often. Really inexpensive on Amazon. How would these compare to HF. Or a better question would be what would be a comparable product in their price range? I am interested in impact swivels and extensions shown above.

Got some more tools from my grandfather's collection

- Swingline made-in-japan rivet gun. Large craftsman flathead screwdriver and a bigger Powrkraft one.

IMG_0556.jpg

- Craftsman USA double open end metric and SAE wrench sets, the SAE set appears to have gotten used most of the time. Cleaned one of them up nice with some steel wool, plan to do the same with the others. Metric set is spotless

IMG_0557.jpg

- A Craftsman USA "U-impact-it" tool, supposed to convert a drill into an impact tool. Will have to try it out when I get the chance, I'm skeptical.

IMG_0558.jpg

- A box of drill bits, most of them are US made high speed steel.
IMG_0559.jpg

- Also some bags of smaller bits to sort through
IMG_0560.jpg

- Found a KD US-made feeler gauge.

Many people claim those two are the same. Tekton and HF. Not true for all products they sell whatsoever.

Those impact swivels will blow themselves to pieces. Been there, done that. The 3/8 died quickly, but I've kept the 1/2 around for risky angles and such. I do turn my face away if I have to use it though. Of the 2 times I actually needed it, it worked acceptably.

Extensions are pretty damn good from HF, I'd have to say it's difficult to make a terrible extension, especially impact.

In was just gonna add that I deformed my 1/2" the first time out. Now I don't trust them and really should just toss them in the trash before someone gets hurt. :dunno:

Don't waste your money of these POS's

tekton has a few items that are identical to something from HF... i imagine the impact extensions are identical or at least directly comparable, the sockets (i only have experience with the 1/2" drive) seem a hair heavier/thicker than the Pittsburgh (regular not pro) sockets, and the swivels... i don't trust that style of swivel on an impact but i wouldn't be shocked if i found out they too were the HF swivels with a different name on them

but speaking of tekton...

nothing here directly compares to HF... the pliers are all USA made and the crowfoot wrenches are taiwan while HF's are india

I have been saving up for two purchases where I really wanted quality. First was a set of Snap On torx sockets and took about 4 months piecing together the set to go with my metric hex. With my R32 and Triumph motorcycle I use these the most.
ImageUploadedByTapatalk1435070679.854851.jpg

The other was a quality pocket knife for EDC. I was tired of my old junk knives so I sold off some stuff I no longer use and bought a Benchmade Mini Griptilian. Love it so far and want to get more from this brand now.

I haven't used these as of yet, but the quality looks really good. The tools I purchased are all made in Taiwan. The Tekton stuff gets good reviews on Amazon. Tekton is also very proactive about responding to negative reviews and replacing broken tools. That type of customer service is hard to find- and helped me make the decision to go with them over HF or Sunex or Grey Pneumatic. I'm just a DIYer, I don't make my living with tools, so if something breaks I can afford to take the time to make do with something else.

Ive been happy with my Tekton items. Sockets, ratchets, torque wrench, extensions, and wrenches. I used them all when upgrading my suspension on my Tacoma and they all worked great with no damage or issues. Their Customer Service is also on the spot if you do break something. Especially if you post a negative review on amazon, they respond quickly lol.

Come Friday Ill actually have quite a bit of Tekton stuff to show off! (stupid being away for work!)

Im a DIY guy though. Tools don't make me any money and I don't do allll that much wrenching so Tekton fills the gap nicely on having complete sets of wrenches/sockets/ect. Now that I have a good collection Ill start upgrading the commonly used tools to nicer quality and keep the tekton as backups
