The monster vise will definitely take some work. The pivot at the bottom between the two jaws is siezed solid. I got the bolt loosened off, so I know that's not it. My plan is adding atf/acetone morning and evening, and giving it a beating with a lead hammer after work every day. Gotta loosen up eventually.
The smaller one is really nice! Probably the most ornate one I have ever seen. It's stamped F&W under a crown in a circle. Under that is stamped St Paul works in an arch over another F&W. I've searched everywhere, and I can't find a single mention of a vise with this marking anywhere. The closest I found was a single thread on a blacksmith site about an anvil with a crown F&W stamping, but no st paul works. And no one there had ever seen it before or had any ideas about it. I even searched all over for anything blacksmith related in st paul, and nothing.
Appears to be quite a rare vise!
