My 85 lb Parker 955 makes my Wilton 9-500 look like a baby. Don't mind the mess, I'm unloading my car from vacation as I post this.

I agree that vise looks tough and the yellow paint looks great there. I used to have a similar Parker, at least I think it was similar.

Nothing says tough like periwinkle.

Anyone have a catalog listing for a Parker No. 19 handy?

Jrob, that looks like a Prentiss chart.---But since you put it up, it's odd that the stationary and swivel base Prentiss's start at #18----2 3/8" jaw, and don't mention the babies with 1 1/2'', and 2'' swivel jaws.:dunno:

Recently found this vise on a dutch lookalike of Craigslist.
I did not buy it as I don't really like it.
But it's mechanism is quite interesting, I've never seen this kind of vise before.
Guess it deserves a place in this thread.

That's a new one on me Gert.---It does look a little unconventional, but I would have bought it for the odd factor.---Never seen a double semi open screw before except on these little table vises.

Picked up this huge Yost 34C for $150 today. Here it is, next to my C500 and with a 3 1/2" Wilton in it's clutches.

Periwinkle is green to me, and looked pretty darn good to.---Man that is a clean looking little craftsman Balane.
Thanks. Periwinkle was the name on the side of the can I used.

Wow! I guess this one would have some kind of gearing mechanism to turn both lead screws at once. Thanks for sharing.

va, I hear you. My main vise has been swapped out for bigger and better ones many times over the years. Right now it's a Parker 805, and I've realized that 5 inches is about the perfect size for what I do. I thought about swapping out the 504-1/2 I have in the garage out for this 506, but that bench isn't bolted down and I think the 506 probably weighs more than it does!

Maybe the small ones were discontinued by the time of that ad, which I have no date for, or they listed them in specialty catalogs? :dunno: We can speculate all day, not that its bad to do so.

Zk: Im sorry, I saw model 19 and glanced over that it said Parker.

After some prodding from the members, I picked up the 3/4s of the Reed 4C today. Its size is very impressive, especially the handle that could knock you out if you're not careful, its that long. And its poker straight as well. My buddy and I took a little trip, picked up Wrenchguy, and picked it up (30 mins from his place). His collection is very impressive  And a great guy, thanks for the hospitality. So overall the 4C is in decent enough shape, the jaws are toast but they are the replaceable kind. Has 3 layers of paint, some grinding marks, a little weld splatter, and no cracks or welds. The guy told me that his brother found it in a Gary, IN scrap yard, as in to be trash. So chances are it led a working life down at US Steel, and one can only speculate as to why it was trashed. I got it for less than the ask. So, if anyone comes across a 206 parts vise, or a 4C, i'm a buyer of the base :)

Rob, you tell me: It's close. Your OD looks to be 9-1/4"? This has a 9" OD, so 1/8" overlap?

The bolt slot is 11/16, so probably will fit a 5/8 bolt max. the center pin can be removed with a C clip removal.

This came off a Mill vise, and Carla thought it was removed when new.

Available for the cost of shipping.

Outlaw: Looks like the 4C is 9-3/8" so it would be close. Do you have any other hardware, like the swivel lock bolt/stud? Or whats pictured is what there is?

No worries, it was neat to see that and I saved it for reference. Just can't seem to locate anything concrete on the late teen/early 20 number parkers.

Edit, Besides Joe's #20

The threads look to be the same as the 2C, 7/8-14. I have a regular bolt here but no caliper to measure it. Thats the center bolt i'm referring to now. I'll look into it and let you know. It will probably work as a temporary solution.

Outlaw: sorry i haven't been to my shop to measure my 4C, but it looks like JR picked up the one missing the base.

JR: Even if Outlaw's swivel base worked i'd be a little skeptical only having a 190 pound vise screwed down with only two bolts. especially since that 4C is so tall. how do you like it compared to your Reed 2C. it's pretty awesome isn't it? good luck on your search for a swivel base and nice that you have the Reed 206 as another option. i'll get the measurements off my 4C's swivel base if you still need them because i should be heading to my shop tomorrow or for sure Monday.

nice find

Thrum: who cares which Wilton bullet it is because for $2 you should have bought it and you can tell us. get that thing before it gets scrapped if you can. it looks like an older style bullet and maybe a 4 inch wide jaw is my guess.

Drives, that Reed and most any other vise is bolted down on the edges with either one or two bolts to attach it to the base...

Also, think about the loads a Mill vise gets in use. those are heavy side loads and often (usually) with power feed.

I don't think its going anywhere.

Topop - It's hard to tell, but that Columbian looks like the rare (yes, I used THE WORD) model #804. It looks like it was painted black. If that is the original color, I haven't seen that before (usually they're red). If it is an 804, I think it's only the 5th or 6th one found on GJ (I have access to 2). I have a sentimental attachment to this model. GREAT FIND !

Here are a few posts about the 804.

Outlaw: just concerned about the height of the 4C's because if i remember correctly it's 16 inches tall. you might be right, but mill vises even though some might be as heavy they usually are not very tall.

Top: nice finds
