Also, are you saying that not a sigle date is known with certainty?
And just out of curiosity:
Have any company ever been contacted directly for this information?
Has any company ever come forward and said hey that missing info right there, that was us from whatever to whatever?
I'm surprised that over years Sears has complied and released the info.
Radash.
Absolute certainty--No
Reasonable certainty--Yes, by using multiple sources and methods, and updating as new information becomes available.
Some surviving companies have been contacted, but with little or no meaningful success.
No company has ever come forward to challenge information.
Sears has shown no interest in this subject; zero, none, nada. Their record keeping *****. And the only publically available written records (Sears & Craftsman catalogs) are full of vagaries and inaccuracies. And, if that were not enough, Sears has been known to rewrite their history to suit their needs and claims.
This thread is not perfect, but in my mind, it is the best available information of it's kind. It's posted on a public forum for anyone and everyone to inspect and use. Anyone can comment on or question the information. Anyone can challenge the information, if they can back up their challenge. I'll leave it at that...
