Bare tool is $199. Kit is $399. Which is the better deal?
Are the 4.0 batteries really worth $100 each?
I am skipping the deal. I don't like the idea of buying the DeWalt stuff only to go return it. I will just pay full fare. I am not a fan of screwing around with deals, when they create all kinds of extra work.
it really isnt "all kinds of work".. you buy 2 items at one register, and walk to the return desk .. it cant get much easier...
the 4.0 batteries are $119 each separately.. but your also getting a dual charger and the hard case.. so - the question is if its worth it for you.. the case alone goes for like $45 on ebay i think.
another option if you dont have a drill - buy one of the m18 drill sets.. theres an m18 drill kit that comes with a 1/2" brushed hammer drill, charger, two 3.0 batteries and case for like $250.. so for another $50 you get a hammer drill, but just 3.0 batteries instead of the 4.0's.. im sure you'd survive with them.
edit - another possible choice -

this kit APPEARS to include a drill, impact driver, charger, 2 (3.0?) batteries AND a free 4.0 battery for $250 (on sale)... its a little unclear if the kit includes the normal 2 batteries, but the kit number is a "xxxx-22" kit, which is normally means 2 batteries come with the tools.. they are usually "XC" batteries meaning 3.0's.. so if thats the case - its a TWO tool, THREE battery deal for just another $50 over that impact wrench kit would run you alone.
for $450 gets you a 1/2" Hammer drill, Impact Driver, 1/2" Fuel Impact Wrench, and 3 batteries with a charger too if im reading that right..
