Did some sanding and cleaning on the Snap-On K77 that I bought a few weeks ago. ~70-years of gunk cleaned up pretty well. I also added some Bondo to cover holes created by the previous owner(s).

Pulled down 4 solar panels in the parking lot for a little TLC before storm hits. One of them fell and we had to get the others down. Salt eats everything around here.

Pulled the xmas lights out of the rafter hooks (5 min - prehung on 1X4's), and hung them on the house. (<15 min and lit.) - I love these pre-hung lights I setup!

Helped a buddy out with a cj7 he just purchased as a Christmas present for his wife. We are trying to clean it up and address a few minor issues before the big day. She is going to flip out.

Nice.

She should be happy with that.

This morning I had a couple of free hours so I decided to "tweak" my alignment on my Duramax a little. I had a very slight pull to the left so after taking some readings, I opted to add somewhere between .5 and .75 degrees of caster to the left side. After a few tweaks and test drives I landed on .6 degrees. Handles great and straight down the road.

Absolutely beautiful day here today. Whipped up a shelf out of some scrap wood to get these ramps up off the floor.

Mounted the bumper and installed the headlights on the mustang. It sounds easy, but the bumper has no provisions for mounting to the car, or for mounting headlights. Throw in some questionable ebay 1 piece headlights that fit poorly in a stock bumper to begin with and some carbon dust in my arms that is worse then any fiberglass experience I have ever had.....

Also fount a good use for an optima red top...

^she definitely will. The backstory is she had a nice late model 2 door wrangler until last year. They had to sell it after getting pregnant and came over to test out our baby carrier that clips into the car seat base. There wasn't enough room to get the carrier into the back seat. After trading the jeep for a Jetta their son was born premature and passed away three weeks later in the Duke NICU. Tragic to say the least. The good news is they are expecting a boy in April and she's getting a CJ!

That's turning out to be a pretty cool strip car Matt, even for a Ford.

With the help of my buddy, we replaced the rail on the garage door opener.

In addition to the garage door now opening and closing, it became a lot quieter.

Yesterday I cut, sanded, and started staining the wood for my dad's and brother's Christmas gifts (I'm making six-pack cases with attached bottle openers), then rigged the left aileron and ran some tubing in the left wing of the airplane.

Then, I helped my wife paint her pegboard and some other items for her garage.

I just wire wheeled the small clamp on wood workers vise I picked up yesterday, and listened to the rain start to come down...

I also "found" the PH2 screwdriver that is supposed to be my "in the house" driver... No clue how it walked out there...

I absolutely love my Race Ramps! Probably one of better smaller investments I've ever made, and yet I questioned why I waited until this past summer to purchase them!:headscrat

it was air compressor repair day in my shop. Got a old 220 compressor that I love, but the motor needed a new bearing. Had the bearing replaced and almost a year later it pumps again!
Took my little 110v compressor and cleaned it up to find where the oil leak was. Purchased this compressor 20 years ago or more for $40 well used then. Cleaned up the oil and hose ran it for a while. Now I just need to put a new wheel on it and it will be ready to go back to the track.

Had the lathe and polisher humming all weekend to finish up the last of some Christmas orders. I've turned enough carbon fiber over the past few weeks that now I'm having nightmares about it! Time to get back to some nice exotic wood pens when things slow down! Here's the last Carbon Fiber "gearshift" to come off the lathe in time for Christmas shipping:

Also found time to finish up a gift for the IT Guru at work who saves my *** every time something IT related gets FUBAR'd. This is made from a real printed circuit board that's encased in clear alumilite resin and then turned down on the lathe:

Any pictures? Or a thread about making them?

I'm looking at an after Christmas sale to get all new lights for next year and would love an easy way to deal with them.

I've gone behind the Alignment guys to tweak toe-in on both the GMC & the Infiniti:mad:

I do everything that I can on my vehicles... I have an engine on the stand now for my truck.
Alignments, tires, auto transmission rebuilds & air conditioning vacuum/recharging are the only things I'm not equipped to do. I'd happily do that too just so I wouldn't have to rely upon the vast sea of ineptitude that seems to flourish around here.

Sorted out the Dingo's electric problems. Cleaned and retinned the battery terminals. Cleaned about 20 other connector sets. Lubed the starter. And, it now starts and charges like new. The starter was a serious PITA. The gas tank and bracket have to come out first.
Glued googly eyes to more magic wands.

Got a tahoe rear torn down for a friend due to shot pinion bearings. Had to stop at this point due to family obligations.

With all the auto work you do in your shop, how do you perform general alignments? I don't recall you having a specific machine, just a 2 post.

Alignments don't actually require a special machine, and if the operator isn't good, often won't do it right anyway. I've done many alignments with no more than a level, a protractor level, and a tape measure, sometimes it needs a plumb bob or a string...

You would think some trendsetting Portlander would love these bus seats in their loft. I shortened the seat back. The ones in the bus were high back, I'm guessing head rest kinda safety seats. These short back benches might end up in the bus as the dining booth, just missing the Indian blanket seat covers.

The back cushions are meant to set closer to the seat cushions. They are held on to the tubing with conduit brackets.

I'm making a bench for the wall side of our new kitchen table. The bench needs to fit between the legs so we can push the table all the way to the wall.

Yeah I do jigsaw puzzles, no big deal, I'm an old man, give me a break. :Homer:

I was born in Michigan we played lots of card games and put puzzles together. The winters can be long and boring.
Plus I'm an old man.

The bus seats need to be taller, for full sized adults, kitchen chair height is about 18" to the seat. Also the bench needs to slide under the table.

View media item 55612
The bottom cushions are laid back, but I'm thinking the bench top would rather be flat. So I cut up some the the extra seat frames and made it happen. Cut the straight leg and added 3 inches, then screwed a 1 by into the workbench at the height I wanted. I pivoted the frame till the seat was level and measured for the slanted back leg.

Yep

I built a shop in the back yard (see sig line) for my airplane and other projects, and turned over the one-car attached garage to my wife for her to use as an art studio. I ran extra power and a couple water taps (for a second fridge and a garden tub), then insulated and drywalled it to keep the temperature more stable. I also took a discounted section of plain white laminate countertop and built a working table for her, and now all that's left is to mount her pegboard (actually, my old one) so she can hang her stuff up and she'll be in business.

She's wanted a space for doing her artwork (she paints, mostly) for a long time and it was part of the deal for getting to build the shop. Inside the house we didn't have a good space for it, and the cats would get into things. In the garage, it's not the end of the world if she drips a bit of paint on the floor.
