who makes this for snap-on?

my first guess would be Owatonna Tool Company aka "OTC".

Reuben A. Kaplan (coincidentally of Owatonna, Minnesota) patented the first "Grip-O-Matic" puller in 1929 - from which came the Owatonna Tool Company.

go to Ebay. search "Owatonna puller". see if you can spot anything that looks familiar.
my best guess is that many Ebay sellers aren't aware that the "trade" knows the tool now as "OTC", so those pullers languish on there for weeks at 1/5 the cost of new stuff. just be sure to check the photos real close so you don't get one where some chucklehead stripped the main screw.

I'm not saying that with any degree of certainty; it hasn't been substantiated.
That said: look at the pullers sold by other US tool companies, and then look at the OTC model.
Why would they make them all exactly alike in so many cases?

No one tool company can make every single tool. There are simply too many widgets to stamp out. Outsourcing has always been part of the game with all of them.
I think most of those pullers I sold sold 30+ years ago with "Indestro" stamped on them were made by OTC.
Again, no way to verify that though. Tool companies don't make a practice of telling who they're outsourcing stuff from. They are, of course, most of the time more than happy to tell you who they supply to.

Snapon pullers are not made by OTC. I own OTC puller sets as well, and they are not anything like Snapon pullers. I am pretty sure Snapon makes their own pullers, like they do for the vast majority of their hand tools.

Found these Willims Superrench USA open ends this week at the ReStore in Frederick MD. They had some grease on them and were marked USA, so I grabbed them all. $3 and $4 per so seemed reasonable.

My wife and my secret santa were good to me this year.

20151225_130906_zps6hvaq3h6.jpg

The pliers in the two pack, the inspection mirror, and the three pack thread file kit were from my G.J.S.S. The coolant tester, plastic wedges, 23mm socket, metal gauge, gloves, A.C. / ****** disconnects, hose pinchers, thread fixer, thread file, soft grip pliers, gap gauge, and hose removal tool, were from my wife. The headlight is from my brother in law.

A good Christmas indeed.

Big thanks to wrenchMONKEY_ for giving me a great deal on a whack of sockets. And yes, the pictures are taken in my kitchen haha.

Snap on 1/2" drive metric deep, missing a few sizes but these are awesome. I will definitely be filling in the blanks when I can.

ImageUploadedByTapatalk1451078246.258768.jpg

3/4" drive shallow and deep sockets to 1 1/2". Now I'm just on the hunt for a few in between sizes, and would like to have up to at least 2". Also got 2 extensions and swivel in 3/4" drive.

These have been posted in the other what did Santa bring you/What you get for Christmas threads. I am posting them here beause my wife got all 4 pieces for $72, with shipping. Once she shows me how she pulled off this Jedi style scam I will share with the group. All Williams USA, solid as a rock and 36 teeth that are as smooth as your prom dates thigh.

Christmas present:

Indestro 3/8" hex drive socket set 01 by four.cycle, on Flickr

Indestro 3/8" hex drive socket set 02 by four.cycle, on Flickr

(first time I've ever seen a 15/32" socket. the set is obviously "complete", so where's the 1/4" ?? )

... and one of many 1/4" drive sets acquired recently (NOS):

KAL 501 1/4" drive socket set by four.cycle, on Flickr

(the KAL is surprisingly nice stuff, believe it or not. actually fairly impressed with the ratchet, and it's not the first one I've ever had my hands on.)

Got an entire bag of wrenches for $75 CAD. Check out what I found inside! The pics do the talking better but the highlights are:

- Snap On made in Canada complete wrench set of 12 from 11/32 all the way up to 1" (mixed years but who cares???)
- Snap On C90 pouch with midget SAE wrenches, missing oneP
- 4 or 5 Gray Canada maple leaf wrenches with some other USA brands that make up a nearly complete set including 2x Blue Point, one Bonney V opening
- Complete set of 12 Fairmount offset wrenches, up just past an inch
- Blue Point Supreme double open end, mixed years but I think there are 7 wrenches there
- Old style MAC ratcheting offset wrenches, set of 4 (including the straight non-reversible one)
- Mopar with 2x Herbrand open end wrenches
- Pattern USA set of 5 angled open end wrenches

I think I hit a jackpot here! Does anyone know anything about the angled wrenches stamped Pattern USA/ Drop Forged? I can't seem to find anything about them. Also, does anyone have experience with the offset Fairmounts? Are they quality wrenches?

If you don't mind, where did you get the black paper towel holders. I have two from HF that are red and all my boxes are black. Probably paint the two sets I have but I would like to buy at least one more black set. Thanks!

Those look like painted HF holders, but while you await an answer.....

I was looking at this yesterday.
Very minor sale so I didn't post it.
Might be of interest to those who prefer black over red.

These are not my new tool arrivals, but my wife's. she enjoys woodworking and laying tile and such projects.

Let me tell you about the screwdrivers. We were doing something in the house and I asked her for a #2 phillips. She handed me a worn out #1. She said that is all I have. I went to the shop and got a screwdriver to do our task at hand.

Well, last Wednesday, the Snap On truck ran. She got on the truck, and I handed her a few loose screwdrivers from his roof for her to see if she liked the handles. She did.(She has Rheumatoid Arthritis, so that was important). She asked Sean how muck for these and throw in the cabinet screwdriver. I just stood back and watched the show. She got a better deal than I ever have.

I did get a ratchet, 3/8 in a 1/4 flex body. It's at the shop, and I'm not there to get a picture.

We hope you all have a great New Year!!!!
