The make is Mac Africa. It is a fairly good brand here in South Africa. It is a cheaper alternative than big name brands here.

As far as I know that set does have a lifelong warranty. I am considering that set or maybe try and go for a King Tony set. Less contents and almost 3 times the price.

I have a fairly decent set of tools, but stuff is getting worn out. Really considering getting a big new set with most of the stuff instead of piece by piece. Just like the idea of buying a set where everything has its place in the box.

With regards to the SAE here everything is Metric.

This set works out to $2350. Is that the same as what you would pay there?

Roll pin punches...much easier to work with on roll pins than the flat variety.

If you have the means, I highly recommend picking them up...:)

Bought some sweet US and Taiwanese made stuff from Sears today after finding a surprise 20$ gift card and 10 bucks in rewards points. Also got a screwdriver and socket replaced. 3/8th flex head ratchet with ergo grip, feels to be around 60 teeth. Set of picks and a punch both made in the USA. Also a set of vise grips after mine mysteriously went missing. Say what you want about cman and sears, but for a weekly wrencher I love their stuff.

As we dont have that brand, i have never used that gear before. Its hard to say what it compares to back home. However for that price we can manage to get a more inclusive set from a decent quality supplier also with life time warranty.

As a proffesional, piece by piece is the way to go. As no one brand is better at everything. However as a home set up, there is nothing wrong with kits from a good brand. Have you got any mechanic mates, or people who use hand tools as a profession? If so they would be able to field this question best.

Not sure if there are any other Sout Africans kickin around this forum. Maybe try doing a search for that brand, and see if there are anyother reviews. If not start a thread and hopefully someone can shed some more light on the brand

Strouty, I had to wait till I got home from the snow goose hunt to order. Hunt sucked, but thats nobodys fault. Hell, I think it was only 2 flights that I actually unloaded the extrema completely. Didn't burn up nearly the ammo that I normally go thru and Richard was willing to still provide the discount.

Thats a good dude right there.

Was walking around the local Agri Supply and figured I'd try out some of this King Tony stuff:

Bought what they claim to be a Gates cooling system pressure tester from Rock Auto but they also list a Stant with the same exact stock photo for $5 more...

I have that same King Tony ratchet in 3/8. It's worked well for a few years now.

I'm not sure why, but for the first time in years, my father, ( one of the "indoor kids") got me a birthday present in the form of a $150 giftcard to Harbor Freight a few months back. I'm not much of a tool snob but there's not much there I need/ want but according to my mother it would have been one of those instances where he would be offended if I gave it back, so I've been trying to slowly spend it on little bits here and there.

small tackle box to try and organize my wire connections, I way underestimated what I had and I still have quite a few bags of other pieces so its not as I'd like and all of my weather connects and molex stuff isn't there so I may grab a few more.

and I'm up to about half a dozen of these pick sets, a few of my wire brushes were showing their wear and I was running low on bondo knives. I thought it would have come to more but it was barely $20 without coupons. maybe i'll buy one of those stools or something sometime.

View media item 59324Got a used set of these combo flair open end wrenches on eBay for $70 including the international shipping which I think is pretty good. There is not a Euro equivalent of these that I'm aware of and I have been looking for them a while, these are pretty nice, just need a little cleaning.

i like them, especially for the price and what they are, you don't have to really worry about bending/ modifying them a bit if need be or misusing them and the larger sizes are actually pretty stout. the only reason I have bought a few sets is I usually lose one of them or leave a set/ give them away.... I actually ended up giving away this set last night. I stopped by a buddy's house who's dishwasher door stuck closed and he remarked how they seemed pretty handy so I left them there, if for nothing else, the next time I'm over there helping with something, they will be there to use. :dunno:
