I believe those Doerr motors are TENV (totally enclosed non-ventilated) judging by the wire access plate on the back (this is standard only on TENV motors -- on TEFC the fan guard is here). TENV is a much more expensive motor than standard TEFC due to a lot more insulation in them. I have one on my metal grinding disc grinder and also on dust collectors.

Please someone go get them and put them to work!

I'd be all over that motor, I know what else its good for, a jointer.
a big jointer.
about the deal of the decade there,

Darn, he sold this, (Homak Tool Chest Model RD04062601 brand new)
Off topic I know, I had My eye on this,
http://pittsburgh.craigslist.org/tls/5576703680.html
He had it down to $225.00, and he had already reduced it a few times.
I guess he started at $500.00, Oh, no, he said retails at $500.00
I was going to offer $200.00
I was trying to get some money ahead. Someone, please tell me it's junk.....lol

That plaque "heavy duty road chest" seems unusual. But I am no expert.
But then again, stripping off the SO emblem and adding one like we see there might help keep others away from your tools. :dunno:
Does anybody buy a snap on rollaway and rebadge it as "US General" ?
We all know the opposite happens all the time! :)

edit:
I found this pic on Google images for comparison. But maybe it is rebadged too!!! ?????
A genuine SO box should have ID etched into the metal on the back, right?

Anybody live in Sacto to go look that one over? A smokin' deal if it is truly SO! Maybe KRA 60?

The heavy duty road chest do usually have that sticker. Always a good indication it's not just a regular old top box with the same style lid.

Here's something to whet your whistle. A vintage Blackhawk road box for $60 near Sacramento CA. These have quite a collectors' following and in the pics you can see why.

Frankly, if you're reading this and didn't have a passing thought about 'how long would it take me to get to Sacramento?' then you probably shouldn't be on this board.

Bet that vitmar would be a nice box.
I don't have the $&$ right now, much less a way to haul it.
I've said it before, I need to fond a little trailer. Hope it's not hard on the transmission, won't be hauling nothing real heavy.

A fellow in Lafayette / Orinda, CA is selling four NOS 2 HP, 3450 RPM, single phase 220v Doerr motors for $25 each.

I purchased a Baldor polisher from him (used but in great shape, also $25) and wished I could get one of these too but I don't have 220v, and more to the point I don't need a 2 HP motor at the moment. But the seller is a good guy and the motors are legit. (If you get in touch tell him Larry sent you.)

Thanks for posting this. I live about 10 minutes away and bought one of these motors today. They are pretty much brand new with just some scuffs on the paint. He's not interested in shipping them since it's not worth his time.

Now I need to figure out what to do with it. Belt grinder? Replace the 1/2hp motor on my bandsaw? Hmmmm...

Hard to believe this one is six days old, but you never know... a 25 gal Husky oiled compressor for $100 in San Francisco. I'll let the poster tell the backstory:

"Husky Pro compressor 25Gal w/ hose and fittings. Great compressor, Pro model so it has a super rugged oil bath pump. Well taken care of. I even installed a check valve on the bottom and emptied after each use to minimize moisture build up. Works like a champ."
