I had to dig though this terribly organized stall at the flea market to come away with this one Blackhawk DBE. Probably the largest that I have at 1-1/16" and 1-1/8" openings. Once I got all the rust off, it looks like it's seen relatively little use.
I think the date code '8' indicates 1948 production. :dunno:

Hey BlueBomber, have you found any more of the deep offset Blackhawks with the middle groove? (Like the one I sold you). I only came across the one - was hoping you'd have more luck with those.

I need those for my big chief set! Those are pretty difficult to find.

The Blackhawk is really nice!

Couple today, I passed on a few and kinda regret it now. Maybe they will still be there next week.

I've only seem one other, on ebay. I looked at it long and hard, but in the end couldn't bring myself to drop $20 on one wrench. I'm always looking, however.

Nice Blackhawk, username!

Here are a few random DBE wrenches I've picked up lately.

Don: I can't quite make it the brands on those DBEs, although the top two seen to be of Indestro/Duro origin. Any more details or higher res pics?

Sorry, the GJ is so iPad unfriendly. Here it is again. From top to bottom, Indestro, BMW, Bridgeport, Lectrolite and Fairmount.

BlueBomber: I was going through my mobile book of want items (so when I'm out I know what I have and what I don't), and came across the grooved Blackhawk page. (Info from AA, ebay, and others).
Before tossing it, I figured I post the info for your search.

15622 3/8x7/16?
15623 1/2x9/16
15624 5/8x11/16
15625 3/4x25/32
15626 13/16x7/8?

They were made 1941-1952. The number indicates the year. -3 means 1943.
Edit: I now realize -1 and -2 could be either decade. Don't know how to distinguish between those.:dunno:

Thanks, bonneyman! I need to build one of those now that my DBE collection is approaching 200 (aka .6 twertsies).

I need to do a list as well, but my collection is small enough I could do a "have" list. It would have helped on Monday cuz I passed on a wrench I thought I had, only to realize later I was mistaken.

Majority of my DBE's most older Snap On, rest early 50's Blue Point. Really like the older round beam wrenches.

Pretty cool, martin. I like the round beam Bluepoints, too. Normally, I sell Snappy on eBay, but DBEs I buy when the price is right. I have yet to find multiples in the wild.

Visual proof that the BlueBomber Working Museum of DBEs lives up to its name. Replacing the struts in SWMBO's Subaru Outback and needed a 15/16" for the spring compressors. Oh look, there's one in that pile on my bench waiting to get hung on the wall. Time to put one to work!

Two Craftsman today. Amazing difference of appearance considering relatively similar age. Thanks, chrome. Both have CI manufacturer code on other side, and the plain steel one also has forged-in EE. Any idea what that means?

these are from the big Plvmb Buy from 2 weeks ago. Still not cleaned up, but I'm getting pics at least.

All but one Proto are Plvmb, some USA, some LA. Most are "flat" a few offset, and a couple oddities with square on one end and 8 pt on the other. 28, total count, and the dupes are stacked.

The Big uns: 1" and up:

The ones under 1":

And catching up recent other buys, I think three of these may be re-posts (the Giller is for sure)

LesserSon CI = Moore Drop Forge, ca. 1935 - 1944. I don't know what it would mean for a CI wrench to have an EE forged in. Can you provide a picture of the other side?

Riverside wrenches from a couple weeks ago.

These have a cool look.

Very nice, 3bay! Thanks for the extra pics of the Blackhawk, too. PM sent.

Those riversides are super cool!

Just one DBE today, but I thought it was pretty neat.

Imagine having a full set of those!? I'm fascinated by the same-size DBEs that are offset on only one end.

Yes, great haul Outlaw! I have a couple of the shorter Proto/Plumb DBE's with the flat shank. That style just has a great feel.

Whew, that IS a haul--most excellent. I especially like the Bonney wrenches with the shafts that are both rounded and tapered from end to end. The odd size markings on the Plomb 1053 wrench are a mystery to me.
