Fireworks, Dayid's list has the 205 at 25 lbs. and 4.5'' jaw width.---Having never seen one, I can't say that is wrong but the #206 is a 5'' jaw weighing 104 lbs.---That's a pretty good jump just for 1'' of jaw.:dunno:

http://scuttle.dayid.org/wiki/index.php/Charles_Parker_Vise

Don't trust everything you read on the Internet. There are so many Parker models that dayid hasn't been able to get all the models listed. He did a pretty good job overall though.

macgee:
Great job on your recent projects. Good to see you posting here again.

firworks:
Of course you will swing by. You are probably already back from the sale. From my experience with Parkers there is no way a vise that size would weigh only 25 pounds. The swivel base alone probably does.

CRSINMICH:
You are officially among the very few go to guys for old catalogs. Good find!

A Wilton 920 for five bucks?

Who is running an estate sale at a body shop that prices a baby bullet at $5 ?

What other stuff was for sale at 95% less than what it is worth?

Was there an SO Epic toolbox stack for $500 ?

Or maybe an old 427 SOHC engine in a wooden crate marked FOMOCO for $1000 ?

Stop me before I get REALLY carried away...

There were some toolboxes I went back for after work. Posted here http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?p=5824599&posted=1#post5824599

Specs:
4in jaws 40-45 pound range. Krylon supermaxx flat black and rust-oleum gloss sunburst yellow protective enamel.

Just got done with a Morgan Star vise picked it up off eBay because I really wanted a Morgan Star to put this paint scheme on. I could have done a few things better but I like how it came out and I had to drill out every screw in the vise because of how rusty it was trust me tried the impact screwdriver broke one bit and said time to drill. It was my first shot at letter painting did it by hand by the way so it's not perfect but good enough for government work.

Did you try Kroil? I have found it to be superior to anything else out there for freeing up stuck fasteners. Real stubborn stuff I let is soak for a day or two.

If that doesn't work try heat, too.

Not many rusty bolts/screws that won't come loose with Kroil + heat + impact.

Just thought I'd throw this one out there...
The full size "Bic Lighter" is for size reference.
(Can't seem to get a clear photo, "technology"...)

Take care!

No Markings found so far on vise, but hoping when get pin out and dynamic jaw to move, that it may result in confirmation of it being a Prentiss 22 (6 inch jaws and approx 165 pounds).

Good picking day today. Picked up this 5" Wilton bullet for $250. Really clean. Then picked up these three, Wilton 1765 in FABULOUS shape ($120), the 3" Starrett ($20) and this very complete 1" clamp on vise ($10).

Travelling to Lancaster PA tomorrow to buy 4 or 5 vises and then, with some luck, another 5" Bullet and two 5" Starret bench vises with rotating bases.

Mike: it looks like a Prentiss #22 and those are the right #'s for one (6 inch jaw and 165 pounds). nice find

Zoomie: love all the bling and cool little vises. if you ever want to trade one or two for something i might have you like just ask. i also am still planning on sending you something for Kara's vise and just having HUGE tech issues with laptops and printers that should be worked out for shipping something again.

ALL: hope you all are having a great weekend.

Went to a local auction today, and one of my buys was these two british made Vises. Foreign made tools, let alone vises are extremely rare in my area. Usually, if I do find anything it is at a higher end auction/sale, which this certainly was not. First is a 5" british made Guardsman wood vise. Second is a 2-1/2" british made clamp-on vise. No other markings/words on it other "British Made". Paid 6 dollars for both vises and two 12 Jorgensen wood clamps.

Headed to Belgrade, Serbia for work this week and then to Prague, Czech Republic for vacation for the 4th weekend.

Will have to figure out how to translate "vise" in Serbo-Croat and Czech...

You might get some nice svěrák York in Czech Republic through sbazar.cz or aukro.cz

Interesting statement. What leads you to the conclusion that Wilton prices have topped out? Does somebody do a market analysis like they do with house prices so we can track the values of our vise portfolios?
Investment advisors always tell us to diversify. Myself, I own Wilton. Prentiss. Athol, Reed and others. I recently realized a short term capital gain of over 100% on a big Parker.

I kinda have to agree with Autopts. Vise prices seem to have sizzled down a bit and would have to say they have topped out but I could be very wrong. Now tiny vises seems to be a different story and they're going strong.

Speaking of small vises, I hope you and I are not bidding against each other on a certain little number made a long time ago in Massachusetts..

Bingo! I need to use that logic on the CFO! "No, honey, we don't have too much money ******* in classic cars; we are DIVERSIFIED! We have Pontiac, Ford, AMC, and Alfa Romeo!"

Ahhh, now I know why prices on these are so high -- one individual owns 90% of all the baby bullets ever produced!

Wonder if I leave my 945 and 935 alone together in a dark room for a while if I'll end up with a litter or two of 920's...

Joe,
I hope you get it.
The vise looks like a Wilton Bullet and a Cole had a child.:bounce:

Yes it looks lik a 'Wiltole' or 'Colton'. My minion sent that pic over with a few others. I almost fell out of my chair! It's in great shape. I hope my buddy keeps his word and sells it to me instead of keeping it. He's been playing with it a lot.. :(
