That cart looks great, and really pops with all of the extra polishing work you put into it. The wheels turned out great, that was a good call to polish the rubber.

Don: that gas cart looks amazing with those colors you put in it and OMG how it will POP with all that BRASS & CHROME you've bought and had spiffed up for it.

WELL DONE SIR!!

was moving some stuff from my shop while i had the trailer rented from my pick the other day and was thinking this old Brush burner might look good in my yard speaking of all the cool stuff you put in yours. i've heard it works, but not sure how or if legal in the city.

the old scale might find a spot in the yard too cause i love the wheels unless i can find something to make with the wheels.

Thanks for the kudos guys. It makes my day complete.
I'm still looking for the front wheel for the cart. I had the front fork cast in brass last year and started looking for a 6" cast iron wheel for it then.
I received my gas hose yesterday but it was the wrong one. I want a white cloth covered hose and they sent me a black one so I'm still waiting for the hose.

Drives

Pressure wash those 2 pieces, shorten the hose on the torch and park them out in the yard Put a large pot with a plant in it on the scale and it will look great. I planted the stove in the yard yesterday.

Don,

I've been following the thread for some time now, simply lurking, if you will. Your collection rivals most museums I've been to. The attention to detail and care given to the projects is on another level. It's great seeing these historic pieces being saved, restored, and displayed.

Though I'm sure you wont have trouble doing so, keep up the great work!

I think it's time for an updated inside out picture tour of the whole deal.

Thanks Bryan
It's nice to know you are here. I'm the same way over on your thread I've seen some great work going on over there.

That looks incredible, Great job as usual!!
Seems to be my standard response in this thread....:beer:

Thanks Homey

Your last comment gave me a chuckle. It's nice of you to say that.

I've been thinking of doing just that then closing this chapter of the G.J.
Then just post on a project thread.
It would be over 100 pictures to post if I do it.
When you say the whole deal just what are you asking?

Don, hopefully you don't close this out. I really enjoy following along.

Don,
I'm with Lieutenant on this one, I would much rather see all of the happenings around your place in one thread. The only downside is that for anyone new they would be "forced" to see all of your wonderful work in one place on a thread that will soon hit 200 pages.

DON: if it matters i'd say post all those pictures here if you have time to either 7 pics per post or via a photobucket or online account if you prefer that method. i use the paperclip and just attach pics so they don't disappear when an online account ceases to exist, changes charges or just is too hard to use anymore like Photobucket had become for me.

i can't eat any popcorn until i lose a few more pounds according to a bet i made with a few members, but i'll drink my green ice tea and sit back for the picture show if you want to take the time to post them up.

your place and stuff are AMAZING and your eye for detail was always good and i think in your older age it's actually improving by looking at the gas cart and other items you've just worked on.

Don, what I was thinking of was a picture tour of the entire property inside and out, front to back. You have so many outdoor items/things in addition to the inside.

As a lurker, it is hard to take in every thing and grasp the size and scope of what you have.

Just thought it would be cool to do like a tour with both close up shots and distant shots in order to get a feel for the entire "museum "...

Don, that would be like the end of life as we know it!

I don't travel or even leave the house very often these days. I travel to Australia, Canada, England, New Zealand, South Africa and the United States through the wonderful members of the Garage Journal. You are my California anchor and your road trips, parties and projects are more than just fascinating. They are a connection to the things I love to do and see.

Please take us with you on your BIG PARTY life! (Unless I'm wrong and the only one who feels this way.)

Who knows?

Hello Don. Nice place you've built up.

I haven't followed the entire thread (yet), but I've peeked in from time to time.

Would you mind if I asked what the story is with the little blue Toyota?

With so many of the classics surrounding it, it's the one that seems most out of place haha.

I've got my own "Trusty-Rusty" in the form of an eighties model Ford Ranger. She's not pretty, but she is dependable.

Hi Jarhead

The old toyota pick up was a project that I brought home for my son to work with me on when he was 14 (1982) It was a 1981 p/u that was rolled over and determined a total loss by the insurance . We rebuilt the truck at home even though I owned a body shop I wanted him to be motivated to work on the truck. WE finished it early and I parked it waiting for him to turn 16.I took the truck back from my son when he was 18 and wanted a hot rod
I kept the truck for my grandson (my sons boy) but he didn't want it so it went away with the other cars the discovery chanel took when they rebuilt the 37 Zephyr for me.

Don-

What an amazing series of projects. I can not really add anything that has not been said before.

I do have one small question, with where you are geographically, and the obvious amount of money invested, is there a reason the space appears unconditioned?

I understand the square footage, but with the many benefits, I was just curious.

Don: thanks for the tour and i'm with Bob and probably the rest of the members here that enjoy your projects and museum and hope you never stop posting on this thread as you have the time.

there is so much to see in just one picture so no wonder guys and gals travel from all parts of the world to see it a second, third time and maybe more.

it looks like you had that gas cart's wheels and brass parts on and set in place in front of your 30's garage and i don't recall seeing any pictures of it on your thread or maybe i missed it while i was out picking up my little old gems of my own.

take care and always a pleasure to see your place and can't even fathom what it would cost to replace. nice that you put in the Barbie shop in the middle and guessing that was for your bride or do you have a daughter that inspired that?

cheers

do you have a more detailed picture of the curve crane, the one with the engine hanging on it? I can't tell if its mounted on a truck or if its more stationary? thank you sir.

I'm happy to hear that you guys are enjoying the walk around the garage

Zeke I would be proud to give you a tour of this place.

Big Daddy I would love to put A/C in the building ,however I'm using all the electricity to light up the place and there isn't enough juice left over to run it.

Iron farmer I'm glad that you can relate lol

Drives Yes the gas cart is finished less a couple parts and sitting in the garage. I take no credit for the Barbie store. It is my wifes project all the way.

Herb (BugThug) you asked about the 1900 engine hoist.
I picked it up in Arkansas last year on a road trip. It is a stand alone unit with a very clever breaking system. As you lower the handle to move the lift, the bar releases the wheels and as you push the handle up it rubs on the rear wheels and holds the unit in place.
Here is the first shot I found of the hoist. It is holding up the V12 motor out of the 37 Zephyr

2hmdawz.jpg

Herb
I just looked up when I got the lift. Look at pg 100 post 2000 It tells all about the unit

I'm just another member thoroughly enjoying the journey you've taken us all on. Thank you, and we hope to visit when we're in the neighborhood. I don't recall seeing it, but do you open the place up on a regular basis and let folks in on an admission charge?
