i think i was the first to call about the problem not sure, they offered me i think 25 credit and i told them i really needed the other socket set, so they put me on hold and told me they found the 1/4 set and would send it out for free

I can't say I've shared that experience. I placed my order through them and it was painless . I belive quite a few people in here did and had good luck with them. I have read other people complain about them though, so I guess it's a **** shoot .

Wherever you get them from, this Gearwrench deal is great..

The quality is not quite that if my dual 80s, and 3 snap on sockets.....

But 100% there is no better value for the $. The sockets have great fit in fasteners and the ratchets are smooth and functional. I like the 1/4 xp 120 BETTER than my snappy 1/4.

Everyone who needs sockets needs to look into this set.

I bought these a while back as well as a 1/2" set, really good quality for the money. Supposedly advance auto parts will honor warranty and my local advance has a better selelction than ever, just not so good of prices. I remember 8 or 9 years ago before Apex I called about a broken reversible geR wrench and they just sent me a replacement no questions asked. Too bad it's not like that anymore.

Ordered up the sets tonight. Ordered from Sears via Mechanics Tool Warehouse. ETA..next Monday.

Got a surprise yesterday. My socket sets arrived early. Only issue with them is the 1/4 in drive set has the 84 tooth ratchet instead of the 120. Not a big deal to me.

Both sets came complete and all sockets were in there proper locations. Except for a few smudges on a couple of the ratchets, all the components were clean and polished with no scuff marks I can see. As a DIYer, I'm extremely pleased with the quality. The boxes are actually stronger than I expected...how the hinges will hold up only time will tell.

I was on the fence about this deal due to the fact I have an 80's Craftsman set that consists of of 1/2,3/8,1/4 inch drives and probably most of the sizes and type in these sets. All the ratchets in the Craftman set have been replaced at least once and I'm sure more than a few sockets are MIA. My 2 main issues with them has been the lack of a case/organizer which is a big deal because I don't have a garage or static box to store my tools....and the small marking on the sockets.

I guess I should thank kctyphoon for his relentless flogging of this deal...:D I'm glad a made the purchase. I'll be keeping the 1/2 drive Craftsman stuff,along with all the extensions and breaker bars, then part out the rest of the set. I've picked up a couple of smaller 1/4 and 3/8 drive Dewalt sets awhile ago that I have for backups/spares. Hopefully I'll be able to keep thing more organized.

Anyhow...for anyone whose on the fence about this deal...take the leap..:rocker:

I just picked up the 3/8 set for only $20. I missed out on the 1/4 set they were also selling for $20. Someone must of got this bogo deal and sold it to the pawn shop i bought it fom.

Got mine today from an Amazon reseller (5% cash back on my card).
The 1/4 is a 120.

Pros: 6 point and no skipped sizes, Yay!

Cons: deeps are not broached all the way and I cannot read the sizes. I'll have to sharpie the sizes on them too.

If price is not a concern, would anyone recommend this over the Dewalt 204 (or 192) piece set. Both DeWalt and Gearwrench are made in Taiwan (thumbs up) and relatively budget friendly. I am just a noobie trying to phase out my old Walmart tools. Any thoughts on the two?

You can get the Dewalt 118 piece for $79.99 at Sears, use a $10 off coupon they have at the tool register. Please note some stores don't have the coupon. It's cheaper than this deal with some extra pieces.

Online price doesn't always match in store price. The dewalt set probably has a few less pieces for a complete set of sockets and just realized you said money not an object. I'd go with the gearwrench.

No problem with MTW...actually got them a lot quicker than expected. Only issue as I mentioned was the 1/4 in set had the 84 tooth ratchet instead of the 120. Not worth my time to pursue changing it.

Hope this helps, but somehow I doubt it will...:lol:
