Pulled the motor from a friends old Toyota Forklift by myself today in his garage. :fingersx:

No power tools, all hand tools, a chain hoist, HF jack and Cherry picker, couple straps and my back.

I was given an estimate of $35,000 to do the upholstery in my car project. The seats are in Black water buffalo and I wanted the upholstery to match. My first trade was sheetmetal and I thought sheet leather cannot be as difficult, All I needed was a sewing machine with a walking foot for leather. A local upholstery shop was down-sizing and I bought their JUKI 562 and the table it was mounted on.

Rather than paying out $35k, my total cost including $500 for the sewing machine was about $4K. I sewed leather binding around the many pieces of wool carpet for the interior and the trunk. It all fits and looks really well. So, what did I do today? I treated the leather upholstery the driver's seat.

"$35,000"??? Are we reading that right??? [emoji848]

I am out here right now and I think my battery is toast. Pulled battery from the car so it was easier to watch the charger. Showed battery at 72%. Began charging at ~1.5A. Ten minutes later It's at 86%. Current is down to like 150mA. So my 72Ah battery is probably like 7.2Ah at this point. Think I'm gonna have to bite the battery and buy one.

I put up foam board insulation on all my shop doors today.
I spent $100 on the foam board buying it used online. I measured and cut each piece and wedged it into the door. This took a lot longer than suspected. Hopefully my shop will stay a bit warmer now.

Also I worked on moving and arranging my boxes in the shop.

My garage? Shovelled snow for the third time in three days. Almost enough to pull the sled out!

Dads place? Got the White 1370 running again. Was ran out of diesel. Love the little fiat 4 banger in that thing. So simple. Bleed primary filter, bleed secondary filter, bleed primary and secondary injector pump fittings. Crack injectors, shot of ether and she's going again. Something to be said about simple mechanical diesel.

Chased down the reason trailer running lights wouldn't work on either the 7-pin or 4-pin connectors on my 2014 Ram. Discovered there is a dedicated fuse for the running lights that had blown. O'Reilly's didn't have it, so had to go to dealer.
Reinstalled bed light that was hosed up by body shop during repair.
Did some general picking up in anticipation of new epoxy flooring being installed next week.

I installed a timer on the garage door today (liftmaster 881). We have a newborn so I was afraid the wife would get preoccupied and forget to close the door. I also replaced the keyless entry pad that stopped working.

Adjusted my garage door track so that I get the extra few inches to stack my cobra and rsr project. I got it 1/2" off the vaulted beams. DIY roof pitch track. Every little bit counts, lol.

backed my service truck up to use the compressor in it...
yea it dont like 0 F anymore than i do. :dunno:

front's were no problem, had to take a couple 10 minute breaks to thaw my fingers

found out i have the wrong rear rotors after i had the tire, caliper and bracket off.

Been quite awhile since I posted. Not a whole lot new but I did get motivation to see the bottom of my workbench. I haven't seen it in probably a good year....

19 degrees in Atlanta this morning, I quickly walked into the garage and then quickly returned to the house! I did occupy my time building a model car and checking out the Jalopy Journal HAMB builds.
Regards,
John

I got a pair of Rhino Ramps for Christmas and have no shelf space to store them in the garage. I looked at some unused wall space and got to work.

Created 2 hanging brackets out of plywood and attached them to the ceiling. Then I bent up some 1/8" x 3/4" steel bar into hanging brackets. I tried to make the same brackets out of aluminum bar last weekend but the aluminum doesn't bend so nice - you start the bend and then it breaks.

The ramp rests on the cove where the block changes from 12" to 8" and is held in place by the bar. The bar has a "lip" that fits into a hole in the side of the ramp. To remove the ramp from it's position you lift it with one hand, pull the bracket back and drop the ramp down. Reverse to hang the ramp back into place.

Cheers

Jim

I had a post typed up and for some reason, lost my connection to the internet. :dunno:

I went out this morning to start a fire to ward off the single digit temps that we have been having. Then went back out a few times to stoke it up before I went ot work doing a few things.

I cleaned the wife's 14 year old Dyson so she could take it to work. We picked her up a new Dyson, I ordered a new rifle so she got a new vac. I also cleaned out a box fan that I have been using in the garage.

Then I moved on to blowing out a laptop that she had been using. It was one that came from the neighbor who had rebuilt a few of them. I was trying to set it up like the home PC and my EDLT (everyday laptop). I had it about where I wanted, went in the house for about 20 minutes and came out to find that it had died. So I guess, I'll be taking my EDLT out to the garage when need be. I might be able to catch one on sale and pick one up in the near future.

Re: What did you do "IN" your garage today?

I got an inline oiler in a kit I bought, searched "inline oiler" on the interweb and the first topic that came up was from GJ. Response that came up ran the gamut from line contanimation to placement etc. So I built this:

20170108_174137.jpg

Attaches at the end of line, portable if buds every need tools that they don't have, and at the beginning and end of each day I just plug it in and pull the trigger. The black pieces at each end are just plugs, and it was all built out of pieces I already had. Simple, yes, but it works

Chain case oil change on the snowmobile and engine oil change on the truck, then took down the toyo oil stove and put it in the enclosed trailer to thaw it out for a week long trip to the mountains on Tuesday!

I finished up some repairs on my 1988 mustang and was able to start it for the first time in 7 months. I also installed some led spot/fog lights on my truck. Cleaned some tools and threw away more junk.

Just finished cleaning up after Jeep Liberty front bearings and tie rod ends. Had to get a torch for one of the tie rod ends. It was awful to be honest.

Bleed brakes & checked for leaks through the system as it's all new. Then mounted up the headers for the final time after test fitting/trimming. Also did the floor pans in POR 15, pretty productive afternoon in the garage.
