Doubt this one's going to last-- pity I'm not closer. A walker-turner drill press for $100 in Petaluma CA. (Sometimes I hate craigslist!)

"Walker Turner Drill Press 18."
2.5 " Quill

Larry,

That was an awesome find, I'm sure that would have sold in seconds.

I'm sure the seller didn't know because the variable speed add-on to that drill press is Gucci and very expensive to do. The motor has be a AC motor and the A/C to D/C convertor-speed controller with reverse is by KB electronics. That alone sells used for $100++, let alone the cost of a proper a/c motor which are usually even more. Trick is use a used treadmill motor but that one looks legit.

http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odkw=kd+dc+SCR+Drive&LH_Complete=1&LH_Sold=1&_osacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.Xkb+dc++controller+Drive.TRS0&_nkw=kb+dc++controller+Drive&_sacat=0

Someone who would have gone through that conversion who had also gone though that drill press making sure the bearings and runout was excellent before going through the high costs and time of the DC conversion making this one a winner. The cast iron wheel quill handle is also really nice

I'm doing the exact same conversion myself and it aint cheap. The palmgren angle vise is in excellent shape. What a great setup at any price.

Larry I would have paid you to get it for me, there's a couple of really good lunch & beer spots there. I really hope a GJ member grabbed it.

You would be very hard pressed to find a better drill press for under $800+ let alone for $100. Sorry I just saw it now. I also see a arbor press and press roll in the background.

EDIT: the seller really had no clue as they're trying to sell the arbor press for $550

UPDATE:Someone picked it up, not so much of a deal anymore lol
https://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/tls/6014141744.html

Looks like he took the pic and then posted it as he was driving off with his free item.

See Tundruz, you knew it was a good item when you saw it.

I would contact the dude and ask him to run the machine to show that it works since it's now $500? I'm curious to know what he'll say to that but I already know the answer.

If your going to flip, at least clean it up and test it to verify that it works. I'm betting the rubber drum wheels are close to rotted.

If your going ask a substantially higher price then fix if you can, tune it and clean it up for a proper sale but then that might be too much for a dude looking for a free lunch. Free items are never perfect and will need attention.

I was thinking the same about the pics as he just picked it up and surprised he didn't include a delivery charge since it was already loaded. And too cheap to invest in a can of WD-40 to spray and wipe it down to shine up the turd.

Didn't know the AC conversion was that tough, thanks for the info-- I'm now kicking myself twice as hard as before! Kidding aside, I also hope it went to a GJ member. If it wasn't across the Golden Gate Bridge and 40 miles up from there, and storming rain, who knows if I could have got there in time.

macgee finds another screaming deal

If anybody has built their own drawers with HD ball bearing slides, (I have) they know that the hardware alone on those fireproof file drawers would cost at least 4-5 times the asking price.

Sounds like it needs 1) a pump overhaul or 2) a new pump. Overhauled the pump on my portable Craftsman air compressor twice. When it went down for the 3rd time I replaced it with a Dewalt pump I took off a re-manufactured compressor. Cost less than another pump overhaul kit. Used the Dewalt tank to make a bubble.

Yeah it was probably a simple fix like the ad said, lots of people around here just like things to work. If they don't they just throw/give good stuff away if you can't tell from my "Free" ad posts. Next free ad coming up soon. lol

I was checking out your tool section and saw the pinch roller ad again but I think someone is playing a joke on the guy who has been trying to flip it.
