So I looked at a couple of threads trying to find a repair kit for my Kobalt ratchet and came up empty. I even contacted Ron Cripe and he wasn't sure so now I'm at the mercy of this board. I understand that the kit should be the same as the Napa/Craftsman 36 tooth mechanism, but since there are so many generations I don't know which are compatible. a89c222fada2368847cdadabbe19b40b.jpg3d7b5c5d61aba21b8332f976485bc4c1.jpg

I can't tell you for sure but if a Craftsman may work go to your nearest Sears. They sell the repair kit for a penny. Get a few of them and you may get lucky. Go before they close.

You did not say but this tool should have a lifetime warrantee from Lowes. Did you try going there and talk to them?

Any craftsman/NAPA/Allen 36 tooth quick release ratchet repair kit would work. The variations between ratchets is the handle shape. The ratchet flex heads are all the same internally.

The ratchet pictured was made by danaher back in the day and was second generation Kobalt. The first generation Kobalt tools were made by Williams.

Lowe's does not carry repair kits. If you have a problem they will replace the item with the most similar ratchet on the shelf. I'll look into getting the repair kits from Cripe. The nearest Sears is 40 minutes away and they may not carry repair kits.

Just go to Lowes and warranty it and get a new one. The old danaher are nothing special or even very good ratchets they are USA and we're made in Texas I believe that's all it's got going for it the low tooth count is out dated go get their new fine tooth 72t ratchet you will love it way more only downside is they are made in Taiwan. Should be a no brainer I'd never want a rebuild kit for a store brand ratchet I don't even think the offer rebuild kits and definitely would not have one for a ratchet that old. The first kobalt tools by Williams are the best kobalt I have a ton of them and the sockets are as nice as snap one and we're made in the same plant that is now no longer there. The Williams kobalt ratchets are the same inside as the older 936 snap on ratchets I have swapped the guts before and compared everything all the same but gear has an indention on the bottom on one of them but makes no difference. I have some danaher kobalt and it's all the exact same as craftsman's from the time ,when kobalt switched from Williams to danaher it was a huge downgrade IMO but now Lowes is finally getting better tools although Taiwan made they are still very nice and now's the time to trade that sucker in you will be very pleased I promise.

I don't care for the new Kobalt ratchets because the heads are nearly 3/4" thick. No doubt the new Kobalt mechanisms are an improvement over the 36 tooth Danaher, but if I wanted a Taiwanese ratchet I would buy Gearwrench.

If that's a US-made 3/8" ratchet, then the Crafstman repair kit you're looking for is likely #43434

Everything should be identical save for the selector lever (different style externally - the replacement lever should work in your ratchet, it's just going to look different - you should be able to reuse your existing lever without issue.)

Or you could get a new Kobalt ratchet from Crip and install the internals in your ratchet.
Probably cost you the same as a kit to fx it.
