Well this whole page has to be one of the more interesting pages in a while!
Bobcat I'd like to hear what that hammer is myself. What info is on it?
Today I picked up a Yost 204 in pretty good shape, and yesterday I bought a Bonney R701 3/4" drive ratchet and 22 sockets. The sockets have definitely seen better days. Most of the sockets are Indestro. Some are Craftsman circle K stamped. They are in the worst shape and currently reside in a container of Evapo-rust. I'll probably clean up and resell the 3/4" stuff as I already have a full 3/4 set, but I'll find a place to use the Yost. $35 total for both was too good to pass up.

You have the sickness
Looks like a 'nut starter' the prongs hold a nut or bolt in the tool while you finagle it into an unreachable crevasse.
I for sure have the sickness. THe nut shaped hole is oblong, that makes me think its not a nut starter. being old Western Auto it has to be some kind of speciality tool for an older car is my guess

I was able to find out what it is after a good google of the name on the handle. It is a Chouinard Wall Hammer, used for driving in pitons when rock climbing. It dates between 1960's and 1970's. Seems to be worth a decent amount on Ebay.
Lump: Totally jealous of that leather toolkit satchel!

BC, I have a piton hammer as well, (Also bought to "see what it was""
Mine has a wrist strap so its not dropped. (pretty important for mountain climbing!) and I see a screw in the lower handle. Is there a slot in the bottom of the handle for a strap to go inside of?
I'm sure you noticed but the head also has safety straps to make sure the head doesn't come off...

Nothing post worthy until today. Estate sale being run by family. Craftsman 101 lathe(I think it's an Atlas 618) with a bunch of extras thrown it. I wanted a little larger lathe, not sure if this is the right one for me or not, was hemming and hawing over it for a few minutes. Asked how much, guy said $150 for everything. Well, at that price, I have to buy it. So here it is on my garage floor.

Absolutely, Craigslist finds are welcome. A lot of guys post their CL finds
That picture was horrible. Lets try this again from the computer this time. Sure looks like a G, just not very much like the G on either date code chart.

not logging, for light duty for hand push sled, think milk cans, dry goods, hay bale, 1 person kinda stuff.

I picked up a little 120 year old prayer book at a sale today. Do you think it might have a prayer for better yard and estate sales?![]()
At 35ish lbs each and 3ft long each? Damn! Would hate to see what medium duty was lol
At least they had a system. Very few other mfgrs did. (Only Bonney, Wright, J.P Danielson, and Snap-On.)I went through the same thing trying to figure out the date code on my ferret. They certainly could've come up with a better system.
Going to the huge West Seattle Garage Sale today. If anybody is there, I'm the tall guy with the beard.

Dear (Higher Being of your choice), please grant me the eyesight to spot the Snap-on's in a dirty pile of old tools and the wisdom to quickly tell them apart from those stupid New Britan sockets.
actually below are medium duty horse drawn bobs for up to 1500 lbs. these are 100 year old mandt oscillator sleds used mostly with grain/corn harvesting box.

i have 6 and 8 knee logging bobs that are rated 2 ton.
the 1's you have are used around places where snow is packed hard and had boards/boxes bolted to them for general utility use. i'd like 2 have them for my antique farm stuff collection. they are on epay quite often.
Had an awesome day Thursday, picked up a Wilton 9400 hd and 3 snap on flare nut wrenches for $30 at an estate sale and an 87 Yamaha bw200 off our local classifieds for $400.. best day I have had in a long time..
