I recently had to move and sold a bunch of stuff. the number of people who will sight unseen offer you half of whatever price you put no matter how good a deal is phenomenal. I had at least 20 offers of 500-600 for my working 68 Chevy 4x4 for $1200. none of those guys came to see it.

Or another scenario goes like this...
A seller gets 4 or 5 calls on his answering machine in the first half hour and decides on his own that maybe he has priced it too low. He then pulls the ad for a while and raises the price.

Had this happen to me on a car I tried to buy for my son. It was an '86 GT350 Fox Body Mustang. Guy was up in the hills of Boone NC. He posted it for something like $3500 and I called and said I wanted it. He called me back, bad cell service and said he would call me back later when he had better reception.
He never returned my call, ad disappeared. I figured he sold it to someone else.
3 weeks later he posted it again for $6500.

Please don't take my comments and have any buyers remorse. With the
Excellent GJ members help you will have all her pretty and purring again.

I saw both these Baldors this morning. I passed on both, the 1/3 HP Baldor which
appeared to have water or flood damaged and the motor did not run as smooth with different sound while running and powering off. I notice the second time turning on it sounded a little better. I suggested to leave it running for a while. My opinion it was frozen and the seller unfroze it. I was able to stall it with little effort. The wheels were soft and discharging too much dust, maybe from water damage. The seller just said that is the way he got it. I know the price reflected condition. I will just wait and pay a little more with out the above issues.

On that note:
I saw the bigger $150.00 Baldor too. What I did not like is there is buldge in the center body of the motor that limits clearance. Continuous single passes on
Shovels and Lawn mower blades ect on the current grinding wheel shortens the grind distance which I can do on my current Craftsman blockhead
Grinder that has very worn wheels. I brought a chisel to use as a test and my hands while holding the chisel I had less positioning options. I know, just turn the
Chisel over and work it from the other side, which does not feel natural or as comfortable to me. I understand the grinding wheel also had some wear which
added to the clearance issue. The seller suggested putting 10inch
Wheel for longer usuable life and more clearance. My intended purpose
Was to convert it to a buffing unit. I was no longer interested in it and did not try to see if I could stall it but It did run good.

I responded to another Craigslist ad for a warehouse liquidation
Sale. There is excellent condition Rockwell Drill press model 62-225 with 3/4 motor wired for 110v for $50.00 also spotted several industrial wood working machines. I was there at 11am and Paul is the person that quoted prices.
Here a link with their address and contact number for the Rockwell drill

https://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/fuo/d/wood-desk-usedtall/6303083903.html

I recently bought a Delta 15-207 DP with help and advice from our residence expert.
One of my winter restore projects otherwise I probably would of bought it.

I hope I didn't steer Michael wrong-- my advice is to let the grinder run a bit, as the poster suggested, see how it works. One thing about Baldor is they are tough as nails and you have to try to kill them.

Regarding the wheels on the unit not being ideal, easy enough to replace them. Michael, PM me if you have any questions about the Baldor, we can talk more if you like. As to the Rockwell mentioned above, it if is in the condition indicated, I'd be more inclined to grab it than a Craftsman 150...

No buyers remorse here. I had a feeling it had a bent shaft before buying it because the right wheel tracked funny when I spun it by hand. Came home and yep bent shaft. Not a big deal. If it's under $50 and it's a good tool that needs love I'm probably bringing it home.

Same way with cars. Rust, missing parts, running not running. As long as it's inexpensive and clean title it's coming home with me.

The thing that annoys me is he said I was the first one to see it at 9:30am...

Oh well

Might pop on the drill press and have 7 by this weekend. Thanks for the info!

You're all good Larry. It's a baldor for $30...I don't think you could ever go wrong with that.

I enjoy a project even if I'm insanely backlogged and haven't finished anything yet.

No I do not think it is different seller. I meant to say it is the same CL ad, but different price now. I wonder if seller see this thread, and whoops... lets see if I can sell this for higher price :lol_hitti

Yeah it's the same person. Same phone number in the contact details. I should have called on it and bought it that same night for $80

Larry,
Keep posting the amazing deals as always, you have never steered anyone wrong. I am just trying to follow in your foot steps with all your acquisition find deals. I too suspected the possibility of the shaft being out of alignment as well but was not sure if it was a wheel fitment issue. I considered the cost of wheels and replacement parts(shaft), and decided to keep looking. If it was a 1/2 HP I would of bought just for the parts.
There was original Red Baldor 1/3 HP posted yesterday for $50.00 complete with the big eye guards with Baldor stand, appeared to be seldom used, seller emailed that I was the second in line if the first gentleman didn't show up which he did. It sold within the hour, Discovery Bay area. The Craftsman block grinder LarryQ posted has been available for almost two weeks, these usually sell fast as well.

I agree with LarryQ advice regarding certain Delta Drill presses over a CM150

I am glad you are happy with your purchase. I admire your philosophy.
The Rockwell variable speed DP was absent any signs of any blemishes, layers of lubricants and rust. The column and chuck and quill were very clean and bright. No imperfections on the table surface. I briefly considered buying it just for the 3/4HP motor and table for my DP which has 1/2HP motor and a few shame spots. There is a sticker plate on the head that says "APPLE R&D LAB 2" I should of taken some photos. Definite turnkey DP.
I hope you get it.

The DP I bought had a USN Plate and was told it once was on the USS Hornet. which was docked across the building I picked it up from. It has the retirement lamp, but I didn't know it was the slow speed variant, two belts, large front 8' pulley until a couple days ago when I removed the head, table and base to clean up the column, base ect. Just a snippet, more updates in the winter in the appropriate thread.

My wife lowballs people really aggressively and most of the time it works. Blows me away. Most of the time it's on 1960s furniture. Her philosophy is that the worst that can happen is they say no. They say yes, I go pick it up.

Except when we were trying to get a teak dining set a month or so ago. Listed at $1200, fair private party price, we offered $900. Dude accepted, was going to text address when he got home. Never texted, didn't reply to messages. The next day the table is listed for $2600. Waited three weeks, still listed. Called and offered $1200. No dice, and he remembered and got SUPER mad that I would "lowball" him. Hahaha! Gotta love Craigslist.

Sorry for the sidetrack.

Ryobi Variable Speed Drill Press WDP1850 - $150 (Signal Hill, CA)

I'm not a fan of typical Ryobi tools but this not your typical drill press or typical Ryobi quality. These are in demand and few were made due to how expensive they were when they were sold new. Variable speed can be changed while running. Keep in mind the depth stop is missing. Has a Jacobs #33 spindle chuck taper so easy to put on a keyless chuck.

"Selling a very versatile Ryobi WDP1850 drill press and comes with rolling stand and drawer. Unique feature is the drill head moves up and down, not the table, so when drilling large items table stays stationary and height adjustment is quick and easy. The chuck speed adjustment is a simple turn of the handle on top, another great time saver. The Versa table is very quick and convenient to adjust and has a handy fence for repetition. 1/2" chuck, chuck key, after market light. All working, Solid shop drill press

Looks like it didn't sell the last time. Reposting in case someone likes these:

If you can get this guy to come down on price then you'll score a nice variable speed drill press, put a keyless chuck on it. I wouldn't mind having that in my shop. They're suppose to be good drill press's although I would ditch the base and modify the table (beef up the gimble).
Tell him the depth stop is missing (easy to replace) and the hold-down clamp, there's also one on eBay for $150 with both items on it.

well, i think he is dreaming if he thinks he can get 2500$ for the stuff he has pictures of. . . . . .
Yeah a bit high to say the least. I could probably fill 75% of it with electrical components. Resisters, capacitors, tubes, test equipment, wire and on and on.

Nice little delta benchtop model $55.

Unless you part it out you're probably not going to make any money flipping it. I might pick it up if it stays on here for a while since I could pick it up on my way home from work.

Also this "doall" style bandsaw in San Jose for $100. Not sure what brand it is? No way do I have room in my house for it.

Thanks for posting that. I have seen more outrageous prices than that for what hipsters consider desirable furnishings for their trendy lofts or ???

Plus the guy got to keep the vise that was attached back when it was going for a mere $100.

Not CL. I have found FB Marketplace to be pretty good - not many people are on there yet, so the buyer has a chance to pick up some good deals without much competition. (Please let me know if this belongs elsewhere).

This is in Casa Grande, between Phoenix and Tucson. I messaged the seller, he strikes me as an honest old timer, who is ready to make a deal and get this moved.

Vintage Proto toolbox for $150 or best offer.
