Yeah. I went to grab another pair of 90 degree needle nose and lineman (since I skipped lineman last time) and guess what... all lineman were gone in that store, two needle nose (I grabbed one, left one for whoever the last lucky person in town will be, we have 3 lowe's and this store is the only one that has them on clearance, I know, I checked the website), and saw this diagonal pliers, the only one in this store, so being greed a$$hole that I am, I bought the diagonal too.Nice find...looks like original price was $29.98 and has just gone on clearance.

I stopped by 4 local Lowe's stores yesterday looking for some of these clearance deals. Found several sets of these pliers, all priced $29.98, so I passed. Did not find any of the linesman's pliers or the angled needle nose, though a couple of stores showed stock online
Might have to go out of your local area as you search online for the Lowes that has diagonal cutter for $17.99
NEVER EVER EVER EVER order online.Frustrated.
Twice I've jumped on the Irwin sale in the ~$10 range only to have orders cancelled because various stores in the area are out of stock despite the inventory on line.
Grrr.
Depends on the store. I got mine I ordered online.NEVER EVER EVER EVER order online.
You find out online where stuff is, then you go to the store IN PERSON and buy it.

there's a Lowes on the South side of Chicago on 83rd and Steward St that has 3 of the Linesman pliers at $10.74 but I'm not so sure on the neighborhood...
Of course my local Lowes had 6 and couldn't find any... conveniently.

I almost always order online. How else would you be able to use promotion codes. If the store cancels my order, then I usually make a trip and ultimately find the item myself. If the deal is really good, but is at a store that is far away, I would rather have the assurance and take the risk online, as opposed to doing what your suggesting.

what was left was 75% off at my good store.

Sometimes ordering online is the only way to get it, particularly when stock counts are low.
If you order online and they can't find it or don't have it, they call to ask to cancel the order. If you say "no", they will find it at another store, order it for you online, or substitute a better product.
So in my experience it's best to order online, and also less expensive since you can use a coupon code.
Is this true? I've had 4 orders lost to stock issues that other stores within 10 miles had the stuff in stock just not at that price.
In store when I went to find the product customer service basically said "stock count is off and the part is discontinued. Sorry we can't do anything for you."

Most of the time the "new lower price" means that they are matching a competitors price, sale,or they are getting ready to go Non Stock, which is one step before "Clearance". They also have different levels of clearance, first is 25%, 2nd week would be 50%, 75% and finally 90%. Most of the time it never goes to 90% because they will sell in bulk to one person who comes in an buys the good and the bad. Sometimes you can get lucky and make a deal with a mang. Remember employees also know about the clearance pricesOK, maybe this has been brought up before (sorry!)
But what's the deal with the yellow tags marked "new lower price" vs "clearance". I think the "new lower price" tags are a newish development, whereas previously there was only "clearance" tags?
It seems like the "new lower price" tags are meant to show permanent price drops on various items, whereas "clearance" tags are meant to show, well, clearance pricing for discontinued products.
The fact that both types of tags are nearly-identical looking (yellow) makes it seem like certain items (like the porter-cable item posted above) are a special deal when in fact it is the current regular price. It also makes it harder to identify actual clearance items in the store.
Anyone have any insight on this?

The one in Warsaw, IN is 50% off, 60 USD....for you. My store has it for 28% off, making it ~$215. I would recommend adding the price you saw it for, as the price can vary store to store. That way we know the lowest it might be available for.
