Rainbow Ranger update: still waiting on proper title it's always next week.
But I did manage to get everything working INC
The factory OverDrive.
Managed to pull off a first test 20.77888 mpg.
60-62 mph cruise and light traffic local combination.
Yes with odometer correction done prior.





With a 2.275 final gear it's a great cruiser!
Under 2000 rpm @ 70 mph.

I did a poll on Facebook and it was all votes this truck next.













First time Eco2 & 427 F100 have been stable Mates.

Notice what seems like huge size diff between a stock g350
And a slight lowered F100. That's it for this minor update.

Are you really putting that awesome motor in a lifted F350? I think that's why you had no response. I think people assumed you were joking.

What is your overall plan? You consistently talk about quitting due to poor health and lack of funds, but continue to purchase new projects. You have so many now in varying degrees of completion. It's very confusing when looking at it from the outside.

Lastly, you have had over 2.3 MILLION views on this thread, and even if people don't reply, they are VERY interested in your work.

This is my favorite thread on GJ, mostly because he is doing the things I daydream about. But it's up to TimeWarpF100 whether he wants to share or not, he owes us nothing. This thread has turned from a build thread into a bit of a pseudo soap opera, but its none of our business to demand info about his health, projects, family, intentions, etc.

The B9 and f350 is owned by a anonymous person. It's all his choice
Not mine. A job I could dream about but never afford. Person is a A/C
Contractor who paid for my ac units when mine blew up. I am trying to repay
The debt.
At this time
I have ZErO steady income. The blue '56 is also not mine. Again I repaid a debt which took 11 months.

The Orange truck I have owned 17 yrs 7 months. Not exactly a "new" project
Eco1 is now 6 yrs of ownership
Eco2 I have had going on 10 yrs. only reason I started that
Is FoMoCo gave me the 2015 Eco engine trans combo.
The scooter I have owned for over 53 years.

Rainbow '66 truck I bought thinking I could make a $&.
Again no other income. If I buy something these days it's for that reason only.

So not exactly starting all those projects.
I do joke around a lot but figured by now people would know what's up.

The Orange white truck going on 18 yrs has been buy a few pieces at a time.
It is by far the closest to being done.
Ranger 250 will be the last truck to go.
Eco 1 is my daily driver work truck.

Hope that is a better explanation of what's going on. I do dream a lot
But I have 3 projects of my own with all 3 well on way to being completed.
Along with the scooter project.

The last veh of my own I have completed was the Boss 302 in 2008.
Typical is minimum 5 yrs to complete 1 vehicle.
Recently did get the '56 Chevy done for my friend Mel. Again for helping me
On my stuff. That took 19 years. Debt repaid.

I also helped my daughter do the 1986 Bronco. Prior to boss 302 last veh finished was around 1998.

Thanks for following along. No more soap opera but will post when it's shop/project related. Just a quick update for now. I will post my project updates
If and when progress is made.

Only project are:
Eco1
Eco2
427 F-100
1955 Scooter
Organizing shop~restoring old tools n equip down the road.
1966 Rainbow truck now on road ready to be let go.
I have recently found it's 1 of 3 1965-66 Rangers known with the 3spd column OverDrive trans. Would love to keep it but it's not in the cards now.
The other 1966 F250 is here for parts only. Parting soon.

Thanks for following along. I myself get mixed up on what's what around here.

Now that past couple months have been spent cleaning organizing it should help
Projects go a bit smoother.

Another HUGE project that has been taking up valuable time is the
1965-66 F100-250 fender emblem inserts. Happy to say that headache is nearly over. Could not count all the hours involved. Again, needed a couple pairs for my
Own trucks but another way to help keep the lights on.

Selling off everything not needed or no plans of use.

Message from Ford Performance a couple weeks back they would like to do a feature on my trucks when they get further along. Helps the much needed motivation factor. I think if I could get one of the 3 trucks done it would help a lot too.

Comet Or Galaxie. Stock rated at 425hp
Never produced in a ‘66 truck.
Just a combo I waited 40 yrs for.

This one is now 482 cu in
Hp prob in the 575-580 range with TQ most likely
Over 600. Pretty close numbers to the 6 cylinder in

Amazing what 60 years of technology can do. That 6 cylinder probably gets triple the MPG to boot. SPG (smiles per gallon) though, probably a tie.

Just finished reading all 196 pages. I have a 66 f100 here at my house that was the water companys meter reading truck back in the day. I am so in awe of your project and skill that its making me want to finally push this truck in and start working on it. As soon as I finish school this truck is going to be a huge priority , i love the ecoboost swap but is there a way to do it and use a manual trans? Also, The condition of the trucks you drag home is simply inceedible I am so jealsous of the fact that they are all almost rust free to start with! Good luck and I hope your health is improving!

I am so in awe of your project and skill that its making me want to finally push this truck in and start working on it. Yes you can run a manual trans. Others are doing it.

Eco1 has been sold! Time to move on to the next chapter.

I have gathered enough body pieces to build another '66 Truck. This time it will be a 4x4.

This will be a very budget oriented truck without all the metal work as in Eco1.

But, It will have a lot of the electronics as did Eco1.

Biggies are the large Brakes with ABS.

It also must have the electronic steering with stability control etc

Reg cab long bed as its all I have

Because of being a 4x4 I will not have issues with wheel fitment

The 2015 F150 2.7 4x4 is still floating around but unknown If I will be able to use it as a donor. Its planned use was for engine and trans only like Eco2. It has major damage to left front steering and suspension.

I did find out starting in 2015 the chassis/cab mounting is completely different over prior years so the '66 cab would no longer be a bolt on.

In process of pulling cab off of the possible '15 2.7 donor to see if I can possibly use the front suspension mounting on the '66 Frame or somehow make my own mounting for the late '15 up F150. That would make swapping a breeze.

Of course in planning stages now but Eco2 & Orange truck need attention and that will start This week.

Also looking at a 1966 Airstream trailer that we would take on our still planned lower 48 state trip with Eco2.

Just this last week I finally got a proper title for Rainbow Ranger (what a chore it was)

It's really up in the air what to do with what I should now call ex-Rainbow Ranger as I stripped the paint off to see where the body was really at.

Since its all bare metal I need to do something FAST as starting today it will become my daily driver. Nice smooth metal finish is ok here but not so much for sandblasted to bare metal.

Not much else has changed. Eco2 really has not been touched much in past year but that is about to change now that Eco1 is gone.

Next swap could be a newer 5.0 or even a diesel. Will have to wait to see what comes up at auction. Does not have to be a Eco. As long as its one with front end in good shape like Eco1 donor. Engine, Steering and suspension.

Only basic requirement is it be a 4x4 A zero mile truck from the flood areas would be great!

Ideal would be 15 & Up Raptor but prob way out of my price range.

The new 10 speed trans with auto start/stop would be great.

Buyer has 10 other '66 Trucks or now over double the amount I have!
He is a member here but do not think he has posted.

It was to the point I had 4 1966 trucks that could not be left outside which made no room to work.

A very tough decision it was but something had to go.

Lots of plans but who knows how it will all work out.

Main focus starting this week will to move forward with Eco2. Its been far too long since I worked on it. Little to none in past year.

I say congrats on selling Eco 1 and giving it a new good home so you can move forward on another project. You really broke new ground with Eco 1 and now Eco 2 should be more cool and the plans for the 4x4 will be yet another new ground breaking build.
