OK, maybe this has been brought up before (sorry!)

But what's the deal with the yellow tags marked "new lower price" vs "clearance". I think the "new lower price" tags are a newish development, whereas previously there was only "clearance" tags?

It seems like the "new lower price" tags are meant to show permanent price drops on various items, whereas "clearance" tags are meant to show, well, clearance pricing for discontinued products.

The fact that both types of tags are nearly-identical looking (yellow) makes it seem like certain items (like the porter-cable item posted above) are a special deal when in fact it is the current regular price. It also makes it harder to identify actual clearance items in the store.
Anyone have any insight on this?

New lower price can mean several different things- price match , sale items, liquidation items(not discontinued)maybe a manufacturer change i.e. package, improvement, upgrade. Yes clearance means just that, they are doing away with that product in that Region, there are different levels of clearances and what may go on clearance in one region may not go on clearance in another part of the country. No matter how you look at it, it means lower prices.

HD had Diablo 25 packs of reciprocating saw blades for ~75% off recently.

Same here. Lowes won't notify either if it can't be shipped. Orders sit as "processing" for months. I ordered 5 of a small tile brush, and just got a shipping notification for one.

They seem to ship in multiple shipments - my last order is still trickling in, one or two items per box. They can't cancel items without notifying you, and to their credit that store is finding stock in other locations and shipping them. I expect to eventually receive the full order, even the OOS items.

Thanks, I've tried calling corporate several times to no avail, but I'll try again soon.

You will likely need to talk to the fraud department, corporate likely cannot help you. The trick is finding a contact number or way to reach them. Your credit card company may be able to help, and they can tell you whether they or the store rejected it.

Inventory on cedar lumber is tricky at the moment. Many stores are getting new inventory (new supplier?) and the new boards have a different item# and UPC than the old ones. When employees check inventory, both products may be on the shelf, so it's anyone's guess which tag they scan for the count. Same for at checkout. As a result, the inventory count for a particular SKU can be way off.

I was able to cobble together enough clearance cedar for a 200' fence (at 90% off) but it took placing online orders at stores throughout the region (about half of which were cancelled) and visiting stores in person to check tags and inventory. Good luck!

So after a couple of cedar hunts, I have some new observations:

- it looks like Lowes is swapping out the old supply (.875") with new supply (.675") across most of the dimensional sizes. For a few, they have a "premium" board that is still .875" A few of my orders were errantly filled with .675", which bums me a bit, but for the price, i'll find a use for them

- if you use GC's online, and the order gets canceled, my $$ went back to the original GC, but i couldn't use them. I had this issue a few years back and called the number on the back of the GC and had them release the "hold" that was placed on it. This seems to be a common issue with the canceled orders.. supposedly it would've fell off "in about a week", but I had more orders to place (cancel) :)

- this is even better with the 11% menards rebate match if you're in a menards territory:

had. those didn't need to hit 75% off to clear off the racks, but you were lucky if you found them at that price. I found 2 single Diablo carbide 4" blades for thick metal, down to ~$2. And those dropped before black friday, which isn't the reason most are shopping on then, but with all the extra traffic there is usually a decent drop in the amount of clearance in the store.

I bought 4 25-packs last weekend. There are still some left at some stores. Gotta use the HD computer and their PCA to see.

Do the .875 boards *actually* measure .875, or do they measure a bit thinner?

I noticed that for some sizes of boards that there are as many as 3 different SKUs with some being listed as .875 and others as .675. I've placed some orders for pickup and I'm wondering what has actually been picked. I really want the thicker boards (which is what I've ordered), but if the .675 boards are not actually thinner than listed, then I can make do with those.

Good observation on the cedar.

In my region, I see 3 products listed for many of the dimensional sizes:

Not that it's much solace, but chances are the store didn't discern between thicknesses because the Item# (and prices) for both are the same. Hope you can track down enough to complete your project!

It's not exactly an answer to your question but..........

I have found with the Big Box stores that they obtain there supplies & lumber overseas. Those factories can no longer be bothered converting their tooling just for the USA imperial sizes while at the same supplying lumber to the rest of the world. That means we are stuck with metric sized lumber converted to the closest imperial size; hence the funky fraction size thickness in plywood you see at the big box stores.

For example: It's pretty annoying when trying to replace a couple of plywood panels with new plywood to an older existing structure and you can't match the 1/2" thickness of the older panels, instead you get stated 15/64" with actual .451" thickness (actually it's just under 29/64"= 11.5mm).

You have to go search somewhere else who has made for America plywood which can be much more $$$ or fudge it with shims. Either way it *****

It seems to be *mostly* random, depending on the width and manufacturer of the board. For instance, most of my 1x4's measure a true .875". A load of 1x6's measure .75". and the newest stuff is barely .675"

I ordered .875 and received all .6875. So far all fall into the .66-.69 range.

Looks like the resellers are clearing out all the Dewalt 4-tool sets that I posted. There's none available under $83 now. Yesterday the south oklahoma city lowes had 5 for $39 each. Now it's sold out.

There were 4 at $39.60 at 2540. The sticker lady did not get one.

Lowes website showed a store had 6 of these 30-piece sets in stock for only $4/each. Normally $20+. So I go to the store and this is what I see on the shelf. If you look at the model number on the price tag and the one on the top right of the item you will see it doesnt match :) There were 7 on the shelf - 2 were the $4 ones, the others were $19.99. I looked at the other bit sets on clearance and it was the same thing - the old and new models were mixed in together.

PM me for a special deal. It's very good so I don't want to post it. I don't want the resellers getting this one like the Dewalt deal. You must have contributed to this thread to get the deal. Today only

Thanks, but it turned to be for ****, as when I was checking out, shipping became unavailable. Thanks though

Weird. Is the angle grinder not available anymore? I can’t seem to find it on the lowes website. What is the sku number on it?

Would have loved to have purchased two of those for $29 ea.

Too bad their showing $66 where I am. 12 amps and variable speed, still would be nice even at that price and still way cheaper than anything sold on eBay and other spots but..........

$29 would be awesome.

I found the following with a no-restocking code on them.

The Black & Decker batteries don't show up with a price when scanned. What exactly happens when an item drops out of inventory without being sold? Do they reset to full price?
