As pretty as natural cedar can be, in the damp Willamette Valley, it's a constant maintenance project. It's been almost completely replaced with cementboard siding (i.e. Hardie Plank) there.

Moving right along.

Painted the back wall. its under cover so it can dry, and I can start hanging yard tools back there soon.

Garage Door guy came a day early, which is good, as one of my bikes got rifled through last night. I can't wait for this to get done. At least now I can lock the doors.

It is not done, but there is a certain feeling of euphoria when an open space becomes enclosed. A big step forward with a big door. I am a happy boy.

Because the question was asked here is a lineup of the bikes.

I was a bit concerned thinking about the yard tools out side, then I realized they are worthless without the effort to operate them.

In Eugene these days they are probably completely safe from the locals.....

Nice line up of bikes and a great conversion!

Oddly enough, I have had 2 hand truck/wheelbarrow combos stolen. the third I put TRUMP stickers all over and no one has touched it.

No pictures today, but the exterior construction was completed today. Electrical will be here next week to run wire, and sheet-rock will go up next weekend.

Nice collection! I have a 1972 CB350 that I will be resto-modding for my son. swapping the CB350 drum fork for a CB550 disc fork and the CB550 rear wheel hub for the bigger drum brake. He's 12 and hasn't decided what style seat he wants yet.

Heck, they had wheels on them!

Takes half the effort out of steeling them....

Again, looks great!!

Garage door sensors are wired in and running off an extension cord for now. I am looking forward to getting the wiring buttoned up this week so I can start finishing out the interior.

The remainder of the wiring got roughed in today and everything works as advertised. It is almost bright enough to get a tan. Inspection tomorrow followed by a fun filled weekend of insulation and sheet rock.

Great job so far on the garage! I also have a MCM house here in Memphis and looking to enclose my carport in the next 1-2 years.

Can you share some pics of the house too?

Great looking conversion! I can relate to that relief of finally having a new garage lockable. Really like the high windows.

Got a fair bit done today. Sheet rock is going up. the work bench is getting adjusted. I'd still be working, but ran out of screws.

Today was productive. insulation and sheet rock are in. To workbench has been lowered and installed, along with the cedar planking. a fair bit of mud and tape in preparation for inspections this week.

Wired up a plug for a heater, which warmed up the space rather nicely.

finish up the rock and mud tomorrow and I can clean it up and actually move in.

Finish is in sight! Looks great

It's a Pacific Rhododendron. (Rhododendron macrophyllum) You are right, they were a very popular shrub used in the 50's and 60's NW suburbia. they go with the Myrobian Plum 'Thundercloud'.

They are a hardy shrub at this altitude and good to zone 6, which i am pretty sure they are not suitable for either the altitude or cold of Colorado. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Thanks for the info - I figured there must have been a reason why none of the nurseries here knew what I was talking about.

The cedar I had onhand after tearing down a rotten fence that was on the property. at the time I did not know what I was going to do with it, then this project seemed a good fit for it. Oddly enough, I had just barely enough.

I had some remnant from the siding as well and decided to make shelves with it.

That's gotta be a great feeling of accomplishment.

It's pretty cool. I have a final building inspection this coming week and we still need to paint it this spring. but I can get to work on prepping a bike for Bonneville as well as get maintenance done on my other bikes.

Looks like they changed the model code or you have a special edition...

The only model lift on their site now is the ML1500 but it is very reasonably priced... how do you like yours?

It is more than adequate. I opted for the ATV extensions, which also act as tool bins when inverted. little scissor jack is a handy bit of kit, that came with it.

overall I am really happy. much better than milk crates, or some rickety table.
