Two new modest contributions to my garage: an extra long TONE key (11x13 mm) and a screw extractor Engineer.

AviationTech,

Those KTC 12 point crowsfoot wrenches are very unique!

What are the KTC part#'s for each of the crowsfoot wrenches?

Thanks,

Dave

Those thin jaw pliers ...... very cool! Looks like one of those things to have on hand before you need it.

Can anyone confirm are they genuine or fake ones?
Considering their prices it could be a steal.

Nepros new releases January 2018. I've always wanted a ratchet from them, the iron dark blue as they call it is quite sharp. Maybe I'll treat myself. There's more various sets in this color as welld3ad1a2e1df127a49aba75e6da536df1.jpg6e22d2feb5950e50a1af3473dde59eaa.jpgf705e79dc3579ac6d0f2031f3e8449fc.jpg474224d7ba71310afce3816ba1d7756b.jpga172e3d3b0881d920d0f5be4183b2fe8.jpgcf8f1a7966df18ed76e7f01c78d5708b.jpga5839a2ca3f3cbef896c391dd5b353e1.jpg0c127cddadfe0937a87c8ca75ec4dfdb.jpg6b0e12d3fb74325b312a122d850c8152.jpg

That's cool as heck. But I wonder how well the finish will last.

On a completely unrelated note, one of superautobac's videos has me curious about the Tone stubby impact sockets. I can't get Tone's website to work on my phone, iPad, or laptop. It appears from some Rakuten browsing that the sizes are limited to 17/19/21/22/24. Is this the case?

I believe you are correct, those are the sizes shown in the most recent Tone Catalog. I wonder how they compare in size to the Astro Pneumatic stubby impact sockets? I've had my eye on those and it appears to be a more complete offering of sizes.06d577693864e98b8b6d37270cf4974a.jpg

I recently got a cheap set of three from Anex. I'm not knowledgeable to the different types of tweezers, but they seem decent for DIY use.

Can anyone confirm are they genuine or fake ones?
Considering their prices it could be a steal.

I'm going to say that they are all fake. I've never seen those Vessel or Ko-ken drivers. The Tone set looks like something found in the clearance bin at a dollar store....cheap Chinese made sets that used to be common in the 1990s.

Regarding the Nepros IP series....I made a post here: https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showpost.php?p=6925136&postcount=1020

As for the Tone stubby sockets, there are more:

douguyasan_sp-tone-hnv409ss

Ko-ken only has these:

King Tony (M7) has these:

There's also Sunex:

I think the Taiwanese OEM might be Tien-i: https://www.tien-i.com/detail2/228-311-stubby-impact-socket

I think I am going to have to contact the Moderators, this thread really does need to be shut down. I spent a bunch more money on things that I never even knew I needed until I read this thread. Please stop posting pictures and details, my wallet is crying. ;)

Thank you sir! You are an amazing source of info.

Now I just need to figure out my Rakuten-search-fu.....

I apologize for the misinformation, we can always count on bacs. I need to start looking at the Japanese version of the Tone page and not the English version. Looks as if there are lots of new tools I wasn't aware of, cause the English side hasn't been updated the same it appears.

Hey 1foxracing,
heard in your video that you love the ratcheting stubby screwdriver.
You should try the newer version which has the same mechanism as your new full size ratcheting screwdriver. To me it is a great improvement over the older version.

My Japanese screwdrivers.

I rarely use the stubby but I just might have to look into the newer 72T model, hadn't noticed they were offering one now.

Love/hate your videos, Mark. Love the content, hate what they do to my wallet.

Thanks! I keep telling myself I'm done purchasing new tools but I keep coming across new stuff at good prices so the brown tool truck keeps stopping by a couple times a week.
I really like this new Dewalt rack system and can see me redoing my entire shop with this stuff in the future.

I hope it’s only a matter of time before Milwaukee copies this system. I have a wall in my shop that is just begging for this....

These Kai 7250 10" scissors arrived in the mail yesterday. While I like my Engineer PH-55 Tetsuwan scissors, they are too small to be my go-to tool for general purpose/household use, and are a good few notches below the Kais in comfort and build quality. The 7200 series gets 5 star Amazon ratings from people who professionally cut carbon fiber fabric and marine canvas. The manilla strip of paper under the scissors in the first photograph is (I'm guessing) a test cut made by the scissors before they were packaged at the factory.

Does Keiba sell their snap ring pliers in sets or do you have to buy them individually?? Can't find any sets.

Some recent arrivals. Needed a 50mm 1/2 drive extension and locking pliers. And of course couldn’t help myself and bought some extra stuff :)).

Took some

- 2 Engineer screw removal pliers(do I need them ever, propably not :)). I kind of like the handles of pz-59, not too bulky but guite comfortable. The teeth of the jaws fit nicely, zero play with the jaws/handles. The movement is a bit loose for my taste but it’s okay because these are the types nice to have but will I ever use them, is another question :). About the pz-63 really cant tell much...Oldish adjustment,4 different positions, works like it should be. At the end of the handles are slotted head tip and pipe fitting... Both of them made in japan, quite good finish with plating, grounging not perfect, not as good as Keiba for example. But overall good quality at first sight.

-Engineer locking pliers. I tought that these were made in Japan but no coo on the pliers so 99% change made in taiwan :). Handles are nice, release works well, jaws sit good. These have also the screw removal feature, with these It propably come handy if it works because I use the pliers almost everyday at work . Can’t complain the quality before any use(cost was under 10€) thought I give them a try. I use at work Vise grip(usa made) and its sad that they don’t make them any more so need to find a new ones...Anyone knows do they make in Japan locking pliers?

-Engineer scissors. Came with blade protector. Made in Japan. Really nice finish, didn’t find any flaws in terms of manifacture. The hadles could be bigger for my hand size or maybe they could make them for both left and right hand. The handles are made so you can’t accidental cut your fingers, good feature. If the blades will be durable then I could say a great buy.

-Ko-ken 1/2 50mm extension and vessel 1/2 wobble drive adapter and one screwdriver.

Anyone has ko-ken swivel ratchet in use? How much torque can you apply roughly without fear or braking it? How durable the ratchet head and mechanism feels?

Fellow Japan tool lovers, can you tell me the difference between these rivet guns:

http://www.lobtex.co.jp/english/products/tabid/153/pdid/E-HR002A/catid/108/Default.aspx

vs

http://www.lobtex.co.jp/english/products/tabid/153/pdid/E-HR002D/catid/108/Default.aspx

The only difference I can find is the HR002A is blue and weighs 50 grams more

There are small differences between the two designs, with the most notable one being the hand clearance you get with the 2D model. You can apply a rivet right against a flat surface with the 2D model with finger clearance.

My Japanese screwdrivers.

Cool, a screwdriver drawer dedicated to Japanese brands. :pimpflash

These Kai 7250 10" scissors arrived in the mail yesterday. ....

Looks good. I have a Kai scissors like that since the 80's and it's still a great performer.

....Anyone knows do they make in Japan locking pliers?

AFAIK, 3-Peaks is the only manufacturer in Japan that still produces locking pliers (perhaps they bought the equipment from "Aigo", a tool company that used to produce locking pliers, but closed down).

My first time delving into video editing. Man, what a steep learning curve, and time consuming! Big props to all the Youtube channels that produce high-quality video and editing.

I'm looking at buying the Asahi Lightool LVR-3180 and LVR-4252 ratchets. I assumed these were still made in Japan but the seller has the COO listed as Taiwan. Can anyone verify the COO as Taiwan or Japan? I will likely buy them either way, but it would be slightly disappointing to find out they are made in Taiwan.

Few reasons, primarily patents and established manufacturing. Why spend a bunch of money to make your own when you can just contract it out? Its not like the Taiwan ones lack quality. Most people wont know the difference either like with the Hazet ones where they even go so far to use identical beam forgings.

The Gedore ones aren't very good....coarse and the lever is plastic and merely pressed in.
Snap-On are nice but a bit wide. SK are also nice but the design has no provisions for a reversible design. Point is Taiwan still makes the most styles and are arguably not inferior to any competitors except their own (cheapo GW vs Kabo for example).

I've got a mixture of Facom ratcheting wrenches made in Taiwan , and German Gedores. Both are all metal and good.

The Gedore wins though for me as they sell service kits for them. Perhaps not of great importance to the smaller sizes though as they are cheap enough to replace.

The 7 R go up to an enormous 36 teeth and have short and XL lengths.

It's the gripper surface I prefer which this photo from elsewhere on the forum shows
