Not even a month into the new year and I'm behind LOL. This stuff is from a week ago Friday, only estate sale that day. Guy had a bunch of model R/C airplanes but not much tools left. Still found some goodies.

Pic 1 and 2: The Sears and Craftsman stuff, push drill on top of the Crown logo toolbox, Craftsman single bit axe, my FAVORITE find of the day the Crown logo handsaw, pouch only for Sears metric wrench set, Companion made in USA metric hex drive ratchet set, 4 in 1 Craftsman screwdriver with Roberts square bits, Craftsman magnetic pick up tool, half a wrench, 1/4" Craftsman socket driver with the female drive insert and a Sears tire repair kit.

Pic 3 and 4: Unknown silver things and small black pullers that were in the yellow pouch, Proto and P&C pliers, Honda motorcycle wrench, E-clip pliers and 3 model airplane engines, O&S and Super Tigre brands.

Not pictured are a pair of car jackstands I sold immediately to a friend.

Including the jackstands I spent $80 even. After selling the jackstands to my buddy for $10 and the engines for $80 to a model airplane customer I have I am actually up $10 a good day!

So much awesome this weekend I can't keep it straight in my head long enough to list it.

Om my way home this afternoon, I decided to check the end of day deals at the flea market. Unusually, almost everyone was trying to get stuff sold instead of get rich. After admission, I was right around $20.
A no brass Union HDW hacksaw, been on my GMTK wish list awhile.
Couple brushes, free from a fellow car guy, and he has some work for me.
Noname but minty USA feeler gauge, the numbers are pretty faded on my old one.
B&S Co ball pein already rehandled
Bluepoint 4oz, new handle, but not done as well.
Indestro bleeder wrench
Barcalo DBE
Proto professional 9/16-1/2 DOE with chevrons.
And a Bruning electric eraser, a tool for draftsmen who screw up a lot I guess. works good for spot cleaning tool markings.

attachment.php

Lectrolite Tru-Fit cad plated DBE with goofy 32's
My first Plomb long offset DBE CC date
1/4" V Crafty ratchet (Easco?)very nice, but some of the crispiest duct tape I've ever seen stuck to the handle. I think I'm 2 sockets shy of the set.
A Shark reamer, cool logo I found they make some dental tools.
Snap On "Hammerhead" double non interchangeable socket wrench There is an 0 on the back that could be a 1930 date, or might be an owners mark.
Plomb DOE, nicely made for a wartime tool
Fairmount 723 DOE
And an itty bitty superwrench.

... found an aluminum Korean war era drop tank hiding in the guys bamboo grove and picked it up for $100. The family used to have property on the Red River and it just floated up one day.

Amazing how it sometimes helps to just be i the right place at the right time. Interesting that one would just come floating down the river. I've pretty much determined that mine are the smaller of two sizes used on the P38 Lightning.

Cool.. Hard to gauge scale of these--they look small? From the location of the pipe--I'd say they were a swing-type ride of some sort.

They are slightly over 10' long and approximately 30" in diameter at the widest point. They were made to hold 165 gallons each and attached to the underside of P 38 wings connecting to a down standing mount. The mounting point was actually on the seam or flange joint in the same area these tanks were cut open in my pictures. I agree with you they were made into some type of kids ride at one time in life. There was also a larger 315 gallon tank made for the P 38 which is a little over 12' long and I think about 36" diameter.

sweet find! Try as I might, I have never come across a grinder stand at a reasonable price.. I would have paid $40 for the stand alone!

Very cool indeed.. find a small period motor and make a smaller belly tanker !! (That’s if you’re able to squeeze inside of one of these!) [emoji106]

Had another small score this weekend. Huge pair of well made dividers, a nice tap, KD snap ring pliers and some clamps. 4 bucks.

Last Friday's finds.

First sale was a family cleaning out a property they had lived on for 80 years. Not much for tools but still found some goodies. Spent $32 total.

Pic 1: Left to right, small toy homemade cart, child's lawn chair, 2 nice old swivel heavy duty casters, old stove burner grates, horseshoes, trouble light cage and a heat lamp.

Pic 2: Pile of plumbing fittings, the right side is mostly brass.

Pic 3: Large steel hook, vintage NOS cabinet door catch hardware, old drill bits, wrenches and hexagonal sockets.

Pic 4: Old Hinsdale (rounded H inside a circle) sockets, speed handle, universal joint and extension, Snap On drag link sockets, Craftsman 1/2" BE ratchet and socket, Crown logo sandpaper and tape measures in rough shape.

Pic 5 and 6: I then went to another sale, not much tools but I picked up the old military hip roof tool and Sears Hang Tote, big DBE is a Bonney 15/16" x 1" .
Spent $14 total for tools plus $20 more for a box of Louis L'amour Westerns for resale.
The 110 paperback and 6 hardcover Louis L'amour books will bring me about $60 bucks, nearly covering what I bought that day.

Snap On drag link sockets...[ ]... old military hip roof
Nice haul, Hondo! :)

What are the date code and model numbers on the drag link bits? I could use an A15 (1-3/16") and an A26 (47/64"), if you're not planning to keep them, but only if they have a wartime date code (1, 2, 3, E, or G). EDIT: Actually, I only see one drag link bit. Is the other one hiding, or did you not mean plural?

That hip roof cantilevered toolbox is a Simonsen from the 50's. That data plate, if it's legible, probably has something like, 'TOOLBOX, MECHANICS', TYPE II, CLASS 1', an 11-digit stock number (5140-***-XXXX), and a contract number.

What's the logo on the Vlchek gull wing pliers?

OleS - a couple of your listed DE's are DBE's!
I live with dylsexia every day:lol_hitti

I sent you a PM about the hammer. You realize that Fairmount 723 DOE is hard to find, and worth some VERY nice scratch if you're flipping it, right? Not quite as much as a sharp (or pear head), but a nice payday.
I thought so, but nice to confirm. I probably have a half pile of those, a half pile of Velchek, and some Barcalo but I'm not usre which of those are 'right'

Pic 3: Large steel hook, vintage NOS cabinet door catch hardware, old drill bits, wrenches and hexagonal sockets.

The 110 paperback and 6 hardcover Louis L'amour books will bring me about $60 bucks, nearly covering what I bought that day.
I probably read all of those as a kid. Found one of those double socket wrenches yesterday that's Snap On.

Sunday's saves:

pic 1-3 - unmarked "S" wrench, pair of screwdrivers (Millers Falls and Proto), handful of copper pipe fittings, antique wrench of some sort, a dumbell 1-1/4 lb weight, and a partial boxed set of Craftsman crown top router bits and pieces. All for $5.

pic 4-5 - unmarked brick hammer, head is worn and rusty but handle fits nicely in the hand. $2.

If you mean which styles, markings, and sizes, PM me for my email address. If you email me photos I will assess them for you. If you mean brands, Fairmount is a verified wrench supplier for the Willys MB jeep factory issued toolkit, and Barcalo is a verified wrench supplier for the Ford GPW jeep factory issued toolkit. Due to that pedigree, some guys think they are too rich for GMTK blood, but both of them are also verified US Army Ordnance Dept suppliers with multiple contracts. The Fairmount and Barcalo 723 wrench was selling for over $100 a few years ago, but prices are down a little from that now. Vlchek is a verified US Army Air Forces supplier. No direct GMTK proof, but they are still an acceptable choice in a GMTK.

Yeah, week before had some prospects, but laid out with the flu. Haven't gotten it in over 5yrs, and the year I get it has to be the nasty one!

As it warms up, will be getting out there more. My 4yo is already asking me about when we are going out again!

Nice find Toolmaster, I like those chisels & matching ratchets!

Duct Tape Man - I like that little router box, I have a bunch of CMan router bits that would fit perfect in there that I got at a sale (came in a plastic cup). I might have to search eBay for one of those empty ones, maybe I can find one cheap.

Free CL find! Couldn't believe they were just giving this away as it is super nice and brand new these things cost at least a couple hundred bucks. Had to jump through a few hoops to get it but in the end it all worked out.

This lateral filing cabinet is stupid heavy, there's a ton of weight on the back side to counter balance when you pull the drawers out. Fortunately they posted dimensions online and it will fit just perfect under one of my work benches. I plan to put a bunch of power tools and accessories in it to keep them from getting all coated with dust.

What's the logo on the Vlchek gull wing pliers?

That was supposed to be singular on the drag link sockets, it has a X owners mark right over the size marking and no date code I could find.

The other socket is a 1/2" 6 point, marking is a heart with a R in a circle inside it.
Edit: After some wire brushing and looking at tool marks on Alloy Artifacts it's a arrowhead with an Indian head in it AKA early Blackhawk.

Don't know what pliers you thought were Vlcheck.

My wife and son were picking up costumes and fabric from a closed local theater and brought some finds for me from the scene shop. There is an 18 volt DeWalt 3/8" drill, battery and charger that work, Olympia 4 inch vise, Dri-z-air kit, about a dozen screwdrivers, several chisels, metal framing square, hacksaw, staple guns and staples, utility knives, ratchets (Ace, Craftsman and Fleet), Craftsman side cutters, scissors, several wrenches, scraper, two small pry bars, two Wiss tin snips, a wire display stand, Michelob neon sign, two plastic bins, a nice section of pegboard and a bookend with a dog on it. All for free.740711dec460c50e7f6983e0e7a32347.jpg0b6d17f05f6392e48823023f2bae2236.jpg8ed34bd05637911081141457dc3c69f6.jpg018c3559ee21f74c1704f22c2d3fd042.jpg1135529aebc4e6915f8a022c402d0ae1.jpgd079ca7b939a011670077a89f270cc6a.jpgeec283fb7906035ae18f527b93aee83a.jpgf3de0a0d90e05245b8fe23ab1604e8e4.jpg

You are referring to the dark slip-joints? Only Vlchek? Ever? Now I have to go through my pliers!
Edit - aha, so I see: I was thinking of linemans, Buttons, battery, etc. None of my slip-joints are gull-wing.

Gull wings can be found with all kinds of finishes, LS, including natural steel, black oxide, black japanned, cadmium, and plated. And yes, as far as I know, those style handles have never been seen in any other mfgr's catalog or with any other logo behind the pivot except a Vlchek V shield, a Vlchek Flying V, or a Vlchek contract marking (e.g., "PR 206", "H1106"), made for Chevy and others. Many are found with no marking whatsoever behind the pivot, ostensibly contract production for auto stores, but they are all identical and all - logo or not - have the same forged markings on one handle shoulder ("FORGED IN U.S.A.").

Nice machinist chest Cruzan80! I just scored my first one Xmas week last year. Like yours it had original felt & paint. I guess luckily it also has the pull tab on the front. It was the first one I'd ever seen. Thought it might be made by Kennedy but I was able to confirm it was made by Waterloo. I opened a thread on it. Here it is if you'd care to have a look.
