I got to sale before 8 and they opened at 9. Number 10 in line. Waited in the car until about 15 minutes before the start then headed up the driveway to wait in the cold.
There was an old house, a dilapidated pool house and two sheds. I milled about with about 20 others while waiting for the sale to start.
About 10 mins before the start I noticed someone opened the shed door and went inside to look. I walked over and asked them to wait for the sale to start. They didn’t even have a number yet. They apologized and went back into the line.
Soon after they started calling numbers. First batch of 4 went in. Then up to 9 a few minutes later. No one went into the shed.
Then someone in line asked about the shed and the seller said everyone could head over. So the 15 people in line all headed over to the shed at once. I was well positioned and got in first. It was a mess with stuff everywhere. Very crowded with people but I took my time and started filling up a bucket. 30 minutes later I had it full and by then only 1 or 2 other people were in the shed with me.
So after making my pile I check out. The seller looks at the Hilti DX350 and pulled out his phone to look on eBay. He asks $150. No thank you. If this is how the check out is going to proceed then I’m likely to leave empty handed.
The rest of the checkout goes more smoothly. He names a price that is not unreasonable and I accept, put it back away or counter with something I’m willing to pay. I end up keeping about 3/4 of the items. I carry all the rejects back and put them away. I think he appreciates that as most folks leave a mess for him.
While going back I notice a box of 38 shells and bring them over to get a price. He doesn’t want to sell them because there may be live ammo in there. I say I can pay $10 and he says he would do $25 but no lower. I pass. He picks up the box and the bottom falls out and they all spill over the driveway. I run off to the shed to get a bucket to put them in and clean them up. Guess he appreciates that because then his wife comes by and he told her he sold them to me for $10. My plan was to scrap them unless they have more value as shells.
So here is my $100 haul
