Hit up Harbor Freight, snagged an open box generator. Guy bought two, returned them after marking his initials on them. This one had the battery still disconnected and no oil or gas. Normally $659 on 'sale', discounted to $450 for open box, and their sidewalk sale was 50% off that to $225.

I am amazed how quiet this thing is. Even under full load, it is quieter than, um, a dishwasher? Quieter than the Honda version a friend has, that is for sure. I am impressed.

Disassembled the heater box for the Spitfire. Got rust to deal with and it looks like I will be welding in some patches. I kinda look forward to that fabrication.

Also took apart the steering column, cleaned, repainted the parts.

OH. The missing coupler joint showed up right after I grabbed a spare I had. It was in the baggie marking steering column that I had gone through multiple times for other bits and never registered in my brain.

Parking brake equalizer is still MIA.

Replaced some gfci outlets, hung a camshaft as a piece of art, replaced 3 standard light receptacles with ones that have outlets built into them and hung 3 48in led shop lights and replaced my 240v welding receptacle.

Tomorrow I'm going to install 2 more lights and change up some of my conduit and wiring to cleaning it up a bit.

On our 99 Yukon, swapped the rear end, drivers side front wheel bearing, the driver's side outer door handle, removed my Prodigy P3 brake controller and checked all fluids in preparation for selling it on Craigslist.

Put stuff away, Fiddled with the "new" Tbird a bit. Ordered new hood gas lifts, as the old ones are shot. Replaced a dead brake light in the old van. (I do NOT understand how these things die so often in this rig. I've probably replaced them all about 8 - 10 times...)

Make sure you clean the grounds for lights. That's the only thing I've seen that causes bulbs to go out often.

Added a foam liner with cut outs in the ratchet drawer in tool box number 2. Just getting a little more organized.

Have you considered adding little half moon notches around each tool for finger access and quick removal of the tool without messing up the foam?

Adding a new ground strap from chassis to body helps a lot in those situations. Ground straps are supposed to be on every vehicle, but frequently get disconnected, lost, or not there at all over time. They are cheap, quick to install, and eliminate all sorts of electrical gremlins.

So I’ve been doing a little hobby lately. I made a couple birdhouses that I have in my yard. They are replicas of the barns that were on my wife’s farm and my farm growing up. A neighbor saw them and asked if I would make him one of his barn. Word of mouth has spread, I guess, and I get about 2/3 projects a month. These range from a replica of a old farm house to a picture of a old service station. On Friday a guy asked me to make him 4-5 Ranger Stations. He is a retires Forest Service employee and has some cool old pictures of log cabin Ranger Stations. So this weekend I routered a huge pile of 1x1’s and built my first log cabin.

Have you considered adding little half moon notches around each tool for finger access and quick removal of the tool without messing up the foam?

I had not thought about that feature but could easily add them if needed. I'll see how using this works and consider future improvement. The tools are pretty easy to grab and remove right now. My bigger concern is remembering to wipe my greasy fingers before reaching for another tool so as not to transfer oil and grease to the foam. Usually I keep rags very handy so we'll see how that goes over time.

So also in my garage today I cleaned up the mess and then drove the car for a while. It ran fine and it doesn’t appear anything is damaged except my ego. ��

One day I had my nephew change the oil in my Cummins Ram. When I gave him the oil and filter I mistakenly gave him a fuel filter instead of an oil filter (they just happen to be the same size). He proceeded to change the oil without spilling a drop, and when he started the truck to move it out of the garage about a gallon of oil was pumped right onto the floor where the fuel filter failed to seal against the housing. Poor kid, he thought he killed my truck.

I've done that, and now I put the oil cap somewhere up front where it will keep the hood from closing
That way it'll get my attention if I try to close the hood before putting the cap back on.

Sanded more paint off the Delta band saw. The thing is so tall it was making my arms tired reaching up and out while sanding so I laid it on it's side with the chain hoist. Now I can sand away on it while sitting in a chair. Big improvement.

Pulled the noisy heater blower on my Ford Explorer Sport Trac.
I've had something living in there making a nest before either a mouse or chipmunk.
Kind of a pain getting at it, but there sure was a lot of nesting material in there.
Now it's nice a quiet.

Don't know how something gets in there unless they are getting in the cabin, and then crawling up into the heater duct.

I spent some time this afternoon just cleaning up and organizing. I still have a long way to go, but it is better. I found my circular saw so I could cut my workbench top to length. I sanded it and put the first coat of finish on it.

Continued working on a project to turn a car stereo into a shop stereo. I have an old pc psu to get the power from. Going to put it in an old rusty toolbox I had around so I can close it up and keep some dust away. Worked today at cutting out a hole for the stereo face and one for a small power switch to turn the psu off and on. Gotta try and make it a nicer place to spend some time...

Hi Kay, I don't know if you're aware of them... But I recently bought a 10-pack of candelabra to standard base adapters. They don't work everywhere I have candelabra bulbs (ceiling fan lights), but I'm getting a ton more light from standard LED bulbs than the candelabras. I hope this helps...
