I have one similar to this. Same size tractor but, a bigger snowblower. :)

Versatiles rock. By far, one of the best loader tractors around.

how do you move snow with trannys:lol_hitti

Daye

If you find enough of them on the street corner and pay them enough, I'm sure they would do it. It would be hard to shovel snow in high heels, though.

Our snow duties were split up between the Allis, the payloader you can see part of, and an owatonna skidsteer.

The higher speed plows snow SO MUCH BETTER, I no longer have any desire to have the blower. I have run through 12" with no problem. The speed will get the snow rolling and actually throw it a bit, instead of sliding it off of the side of the plow.

The only issue here is that speed=hit stuff harder=more damaged equipment.

Blades work slick and fast, IF you only get a few inches of snow/season. Last winter I did mine wit a blade, by spring I had snow piles all the way around my yard, frozen solid. I was rapidly runing out of room for the snow.
And, after all the snow melted I had large piles of gravel in my yard every place I had put a pile of snow.

The lack of HP designations came as a result of Sears and a couple others getting themselves in trouble with HP wars. People got tired of seeing 38HP vacuum cleaners with 20ga cords and finally called them on it. Somebody got taken to court over it and now everyone has gone to the torque deal, or just simply listing the cc's.
Torque is actually measurable and is not all that variable, peak torque is peak torque period, HP is not actually measureable and has to be calculated by varios formulas. The problem was, everyone was twisting the formulas around and coming up with fantasy numbers.

Cool, thanks for the info!

Here is my rig. It is a 2004 Explorer with a SnoWay 22 Series plow. It works out great for the places I plow, since they are all very tight areas. My previous plow rig was a 2004 F150 with 8' SnoWay, but I couldn't get to most of the areas I needed to plow with it. Most people would say the Explorer is too small, but I just cleared 3' feet with it last night without any problems.

This is my back up rig, the Chev wouldn't start, so 60 seconds later, I'm plowing Dodge style!

Today I proved that in OUR conditions - I don't need any weights OR chains.
We got 4 inches of snow and I don't remember getting much more then that.

Took me 15 minutes to get it done (my 1st time) and there was no issues anywhere.

What are the specs on the truck? (the Dodge)

'78 Ramcharger with 360 2 barrel. I never looked, but probably the standard axles. Ancient Meyer plow, all hydraulic off the pump. I've owned it for 8 years or so by now and its fine up to 10" of snow or so. But when I got a chance to steal a Boss V plow attached to an '85 Blazer rusty POS 2 years back, I grabbed it. V plow is the way to go when there's 15-18" piled up, that's for sure!

I use my John Deere 2210 four wheel drive diesel tractor with a 60” front and loader. Even though it takes but ten minutes to remove the backhoe. I leave it on because I don't have a better place to put it. And it a great counterweight when using the front and loader. Plus the weights good for traction. It can easily push a foot of snow without slipping. Hence you don't need chains.

It takes me an hour or two to clear my 600' of 16' wide driveway and the areas between my five garages. I take a single pass down the center of the entire length first. Then clear the rest with a number of passes. And not just pushing it aside like a plow. I pile the snow at strategic places around my yard...

I had a 24" Ariens two stage blower, with electric start and chains when I lived in Mammoth, Ca. (I feel so small)
I used to find blowing snow in the early morning kinda peaceful and zen like, with the ear muffs on and the snow falling and the blower clearing a path. kinda miss it is some kinda weird way. Most days when I was done with mine Id drive it down the road and clean up my neighbors path as well.
The zen would be blown when the new city plow driver would berm me in. Lived at the end of a cul-de-sac and with an empty lot on ether side of my house and the new guys thought the best place to push the berm was in front of my cars. I met them early the next morn and gave him some advice. After that they did ok.

This post gave me the idea for this. A friend and I did our lane roads with this set up.

Just how effective is this? It looks like it would start to pull the front up when there is a load on it due to the angle of the strap.

It worked better than either of us expected and it was free.
Like many areas this winter we have had a larger than normal snow fall and we are still adjusting to moving out of the city.
It plowed well in the >8" fluffy snow riding on the 4" hard pack. We had the third cinder block on the front as in the second pic. If I drove too fast it would see-saw so we just crawled in 4Low.
We both have over 1500' of gravel drive and in some spots it cleared down to the rock, the rest was hard pack from previous tire tracks.
We are both still dreaming of the day we will have a tractor/bobcat so we worked with what we had.

It never seems to make it into the garage, but I couldn't get into the garage some days without it. Show us what you use to move snow... Residents of Florida are exempt.. :lol_hitti
My snow mover is a Kubota BX22 with a removable bucket and back hoe, fitted in the winter with either the 48" snow blower or the 60" blade. I use the blower when it is a light and fluffy snow, and the blade when it is the wet sticky type of snow.
Why aren't residents of Southern Arizona exempt?

Here's mine. I just have a short gravel driveway, but also clear a small path to the barn.

Heres a picture of my 425. Its an '03 and it just turned 280 hrs. I also have a single stage blower for it. So far its never let me down. This is the third JD that Ive owned set up like this with plow and blower. This is the newest and I bought it used in '05 from a guy in VT when it had 78 hrs on it. Much nicer than the old 316 that I had before. My driveway is 30' wide at the garage. I been plowing mine and 5 of my neighbors driveways since I got my first setup 25 years ago. Sad to say but due to my back and neck problems the neighbors are out of luck this year. I'll be lucky if I can do my own through the winter. The other picture is from last years first storm. 28" of snow in a little over a day. Not fun. The car thats under the drift is the 85 Monte SS that I used to own. It took way too long for that snow to melt. Im looking for Spring already.
