any one have info how to power these UVC bulbs

Needed to rig up a box with fan blowing on these UVC lamp to sterilize the air in a room... the small one "(germGuardian)I have is not strong enough to do the job.

Yes I know they will burn skins on prolong exposure etc... it will be in a box.

What I am asking is these 2G11 bulbs , what voltage or and how to power them?

straight 120V or ballast or sort ?

You need a 2G11 base and a 36W ballast.

The lamp you linked appears to have a glass that filters out the UV that creates ozone. Not all of them do, and if you use an ozone generating lamp in a box with a fan, the ozone will escape, even if the UV does not. Just a heads up.

Yes Compact UVC Germicidal lamp..... something to disinfect a room... I won't be in the room when it is running....


These are Florescent lamps right ? needs a standard CFL ballast ?

Should be clear quartz... in one of the other pics..

Haven't found one that is G26 base and 120V...

Found one but wattage is not as high... only 15Watt..

As for ozone, there are different types of quartz. Some bulbs filter the wavelength that produces ozone, some do not. You just need to pay attention to that.

^He's got it.

I think any ballast for an F40T12 would work, even if it doesn't list the PL-L 36. The lamp current and voltage is almost the same.

Those no-name bulbs are meant to go into a UV Pond Clarifier. That has pond water streaming past it, and uses the UV to kill algae, and turn a koi pond from green to clear. They probably don't have any filtering that would prevent ozone production, as excess ozone wouldn't hurt in the water (unlike in the air).

hmmm.... I think you are right on the different UVC bulbs, man this is not making it easy...unknown brand don't have a wavelength, but the philips one that claims air disinfection , light output is at 253.7nm which is a non-ozone (ozone free according to the below article) ... well if that is the case both won't work.....

Know a good ozone generating one ? only ones in ebay are thsoe E27 based 220V 50hz for china / eu market... is this ozone generating bulbs illegal in the us or something ?

I'm not aware of any illegal bulbs. Ozone is generally a bad thing though. It can be used to good effect in some cases (in removing organic odors), but it's pretty toxic, and is very harsh on some plastics and rubber materials. Ozone is the biggest cause of dry rotted tires and cracking hoses for example.
