I separated today’s flea market haul.

This first group is stuff is from the booth where Cbacres found the Craftsman spinner ratchet. There weren’t many tools left whenI got there but I can attest to the prices, as I paid $2 for the following after much digging.

Nos Bell tire levers (i was most excited about these)
Mystery pawl. Any guesses guys?
Misc. 1/4 Craftsman and a Napa sockets
Most of a 1/4 Craftsman =V= set
Wiha 000 Phillips
Snap On dealer promo pocket screwdriver

Haven't seen one of these Marines battery chargers before but couldn't pass at $10. Things a beast ... about 38 pounds.

Only a couple finds for me this weekend.

Winchester hatchet $2, Starrett surface guage (after cleanup) $3, Chevy emblem - from the Free Pile, 4" Wilton Vise - $40

Great Crescent box.

Davefr, nice haul too. Can’t believe the chevy hood emblem was free.

Found these Snap On items today. I couldn’t leave the wrenches. The thought of hunting down the rest of the set though...

Orange awl
large metric open end wrenches
3/8 extension
3/8 wobble extensions

For edumedification purposes.
1944 Marine Corps Conco's, a pair.
In original zinc chromate

And

Older five gallon cans before Jerry cans were invented. Standard Oil of California. I've seen other brands but only these two STD OIL cans, but I haven't looked very hard. Two, a pair.

Up for trade.

There is another type cam top.
Anyone have a picture.?

Another question to know but not look up:
Why zinc chromate?

This was in my haul yesterday, but I’m having a little difficulty tracking it down. It says Snap-on, 16319613, and Made in USA. Internet search indicates it may be a plus-size track suit in black, or possibly have something to do with otorhinolarynology. But I think it is a 2AA flashlight. Maybe Maglite OEM? Wondering if parts might be interchangeable, or if a 3rd-party LED upgrade kit might work? Anybody have one? Opinions?
Update: I found a replacement Xenon bulb in the endcap I saved when I did a LED upgrade on a mini Maglite last year. It fit, lit and did not immediately burn out. After I got that working (the clicker wasn’t working reliably) I swapped the original lamp back in and it seems brighter, though not LED-bright. Interestingly, the Maglite endcap does NOT fit in this tube, despite having the same threads, I guess because of a difference in a plastic insulator. The end-mounted clicker has chip missing, and the reflector is missing an abundance of silver. Somewhere I’ve got another Maglite with corroded batteries jammed so bad they won’t come out. Maybe that reflector could swap. Or maybe I flew into a rage and tossed it in the trash. Yeah probably, but now I found the old reflector from the upgraded Maglite. It doesn't fit. Maybe if I carve the fins, but maybe not, so not going to try it.

Years ago flashlights like this were sold under the Brinkman brand. I had one or two, they were OK but not something I would put much effort into fixing...

I have bought 2 Allen RHFT new in sealed plastic from Cripe and they are both QR. Just recently bought a NOS Easco 3/8 flex RHFT and it is QR. I used to have a KD 3/8 flex RHFT and it was QR, and used to have an Easco 1/2 RHFT that was QR. I've never owned a non-QR til now, but have seen a few. Almost seems regional.

I have seen MM, some Easco but not common, and I have seen a 3rd type IIRC Napa, all that were non-QR.

I'm curious if there was a date that the patent ran out and things changed after that. In any case, no matter what the brand those EASCO made RHFT's are my favorite ratchet.

The spoils from today's picking back at the place I hit yesterday. There is still a lot to look at there, I may go back next week.ac27e7568861eb97d43bdaec767cdb1b.jpg

Picked up a few things today.

1) Littlestown No 112, 3-1/2" Vise, Littlestown, Pa USA
2) Littlestown No 400, 4-1/4" Vise, HDWE & FDRY, New York, NY USA

Paid $15.00 for the two vises

3) Vintage Gas Station Hat 1940-50's era
4) East Lawn Member, Nazareth, PA Fireman's Badge

The vises will need some restoration. Gave them a shot of penetrating
fluid and the screws freed right up and both work fine.

Hey Bluebolt! That crown top box has craftsman milling sleeve spacers in it to adapt smaller size mill/drill bits to larger holders. The guy had lots of NOS Craftsman/Atlas stuff and this was the third week..

Ok, so last weekend I picked these guys up for a little over $20. I don’t remember the exact dollar around but it was more than $20 and less than $25. Not a great deal but I was trying to obtain a few more sizes of the bonneys. Unfortunately I already had both sizes.

dbee483b5b60573e568d66cbff2bea7c.jpg

This weekend I got the Snap On bearing splitter, blue point tubing bender, and Mac air ratchet for $18.

a434cb9552e75cfd8a658246fdf88efb.jpg

Then yesterday I came across the drilling bit for $2, and the lot of hammers for $11. The brass head is Proto, the others are Yerkes Plumb, Plumb, another plumb, and a bell system.

Thanks Alinc100!

Hey Bill, that's awesome, my work neighbor manufactures Storm Dorms right next to us.

Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk

Speaking of Storm Shelters last Wednesday I was with a friend scouting a property he might be clearing that has old trailer homes and cars on it. The unexpected find was 2 large high dollar partially steel underground storm shelters. Didn't go in them but would say at least 6 x12. Only about a foot was above ground. We don't think they were being used for storm shelters! One had some water in it but the other was bone dry.

I’m on vacation up in Rockaway Beach, Oregon. But I couldn’t resist a big sign that said ‘BARN SALE’. As I followed the road it ended up being at the same farm that we had picked our own blueberries a few years ago.

I didn’t get a lot, it had been picked over pretty good. I left a few things behind due to limited space.

Here is what I got.

Crescent Tool Company (Jamestown, NY)
2c8238f4dbb0e20fc3088cfc0fe40bf0.jpg

I only bought this because it was in the original packaging. Kinda cool.
9fb936bb4853399c38b7d3e9b8b0e500.jpg

Picked up this old drill index, and a partially complete craftsman socket set.

And this cool old Wards Circular Saw (watch for it in the tool polisher’s thread)

That drill index is a new style I think! As in, not in the drill index thread? Better pics over there please?

Nice find and nice finds overall so far this 3 day weekend!

Only snagged a couple items at the flea market today - beautiful weather but only a 1/3rd full of vendors. Guess they are all on vacation.

small hatchet handle for $1
S-K Phillips head for 50 cents
pair of vintage Ridgid 14-inch pipe wrenches, one looks pretty close to the 1937-1948 type that I will need for my GMTK setup. The other is older than that, probably 1929-1937 - both were $15

I THINK the first one goes with the GMTK, I lost my list of what is supposed to go in it, so I'm guessing what is the correct size pipe wrench for it.

I THINK the first one goes with the GMTK, I lost my list of what is supposed to go in it, so I'm guessing what is the correct size pipe wrench for it.

This link might be helpful to your quest to put together a WW2 GMTK.

I haven't kept up with the comings and goings (TWSS) in my shop so much lately but I have a few from the last week.

Pic 1, 2: $20 for vintage hardware, about half being brass. NOS GE 1725 RPM motor. Max developed 1 HP (...so 1/10th HP?). Some ChannelLock items, including a nice pair of 950-C "vise grips". Never seen a pair of these before. Deep C-clamp that was in a trash pile on the way home. Initially frozen but now works well.

Pic 3: $20 M12 radio from Craigslist. A little dirty but works well and came with a battery and AC adapter.

Pic 4: $22 ($20 plus $2 in tax) from ReStore. Proto ratchet, breaker bar, extensions, and assortment of sockets (one is Williams and two are SK, everything else is Proto)

Pic 5: Items from the ReStore box that I'm keeping or selling separate (Snap On, Williams, Proto, Craftsman)

Pic 6: $60 Wilton C0 in just about new condition

Picked up a few Coleman items, not NOS but close along with some pullers for $40. Also picked up an odd Craftsman extension / adapter that I'm not familiar with. Any ideas as to its function?

ETA: there was yet another Wilton C0 there that was tack welded to a table that I negotiated down to $40 on. I didn't have a grinder on me at the time...currently waiting for the seller to get back to me. I hate that it was tack welded to the table but otherwise it's in very good shape.

Finally, I've had a wanted ad out for a South Bend heavy 10 lathe. Metal lathes of any reasonable quality are difficult to find in these parts, at least relative to some other parts of the country. I was able to pick up a very good SB heavy 10 for $1000 this weekend. Some tooling was included. Unfortunately no steady rest or follower rest, among other things, but who knows what they'll dig out next. The lathe was in a carport that was apparently closed off after the lathe was moved inside. Disassembling and moving it was not a lot of fun, but I was able to get it done almost entirely by myself...not a fun morning and early afternoon. It's in great shape and came with some tooling as well.

The Craftsman piece is the drive part of a stud remover.

I asked Nine and he said it was the drive piece to some tool, but couldn't remember which. I'm curious as to whether or not this is required for the CM stud remover to function properly. I've never had one of the Craftsman stud removers but every one that I've seen doesn't have this piece...yet I see plenty for sale and sold without this. Is it just that a normal [male] extension will work on those but perhaps not lock per the detent being on the round part of this?

Uh oh, wait till Outlaw sees the lanterns.

I get the feeling that it may be harder to impress him with Coleman stuff, but here's to hoping! :)

Nice lathe Merc, that thing looks to be in top shape. I just bought a 11" Rockwell, it was in a house, but I had a much easier time getting out than you did.
And you **** on the block grinder, man, they just sprout up alongside the road for ya!:lol_hitti

Great stuff and saves Merc!

You should post those 950 Channellock vise grips in the Channellock thread! I have 2 pair of the 910 models which are one handed use, but I've never seen the 950's which appear to be more conventional?

Finding unmolested Lanterns is always a red letter day! most have been beat on and have chips in the porcelain vents, if not dents and scratches in the founts! Waht are the dates on the bottoms?

Great score on the SB!

and you still **** on the free 1HP grinder!

I like Ducks suggestion on the wanted post thread, but doubt I'd have much to contribute besides a few Freecycle wanteds that come through once in a blue moon...
