I have both that Fein and the Metabo grinders you're discussing. Both are german made, Metabo is more well known for their grinders. After previous customer service and warranty issues, I no longer purchase metabo tools but besides that, I would go with whichever tool you can find cheaper.

So I took down a bunch of welds last night and I'm gonna say the Fein is THE smoothest grinder I've ever used. I went back to one of my square body Metabos to compare and the Fein is just silky smooth. Both had the same Sait grinding wheel on them. The Fein also has a slightly smaller body which fits my hands better, but that's personal preference.

What issues did you have w Metabo? PM if you wish. Many people here don't care about others' experiences w poor customer svc but I keep those accounts in the back of my head when shopping. I feel it's important that as consumers we let companies know we're watching - we're ALL watching......

Local pawn, paid $50 for everything. Sunex crows foot 1" to 1.5", and Napa Professional impact hex bits 1/4 to 3/4"

I find it interesting the Sunex includes a 1-3/16" which is a VERY rare size (and same as 30mm)

Long story short - Actually communicating with someone at Metabo and getting a response can be an effort into itself. I submitted over and over to the question portion of their webpage with my contact details to not hear back. I had a drill with a gear box that had a casting flaw that would result in reduced strength of the metal and concerned me it would break against its mounting bolt. After spending weeks trying to get a response, I finally did, Metabo had me pay 35 bucks to ship it in, only to return it to me saying all their drills looked like this. That this isn't metabo quality but theres nothing they can do it about it. If its not metabo quality, why does it exist to begin with? I attempted to return the tool but I was now past the 30 days return window because of this whole deal with trying to have it repaired through Metabo, they then began to ignore my emails when I requested to return the drill back to them since my dealer wouldn't take it back due to being over 30 days not from use, but simply in limbo with Metabo having it in their possession or the shipping back and forth.

Also beware that Metabo and Fein both have lower end models that are chinese made as previously noticed, but that Metabo seems to be increasing chinese made tools across their entire line (all their cordless circular and reciprocating saws, the low end grinder, their SDS plus drills) and they never note the COO of a tool on their website or in any documentation. So you're left guessing until you get the tool in hand.

Fein has always been fantastic in my experience with customer service when I phoned in to look for specific parts or accessories for a Fein die grinder I also have.

Some new misc stuff for the same project. Ive used the 10" channellock adjustable for years now. Very nice, made in Spain by the same company that makes Snap Ons. 9b36b40b785c2b19d220b5bf57b54179.jpg428992248d6fce125a53ecb049e83291.jpg191a8ba2f0a636fc588ca6c2bdbe27c0.jpg27cbbccdfbdb8519cb7e473bc44d8f71.jpg545c66e9a50efd9289a990398abe8b8a.jpgc6bfa38c1450dd9c2df6f6763c8e2bb2.jpg824366761d60c461b15bb83b11acd8c5.jpg18e8cccc0a073cdf87c9edc1aa520678.jpgb4ce0a4da6479fe2ff4b2db26184bba6.jpg

I noticed that a lot of sellers on Amazon don’t specify if these sets are 1.0 or 2.0. Some specify the newer set but ship the old. Amazon doesn’t let you post comments about this. The comments are not accepted.

I’m not sure if there’s a big difference, but I just thought I’d let people know.

Waiting for my full polish set. Backordered for a while now

I got this to drill a lot of holes in concrete and remove mortar from a brick chimney that someone wants to expose. It’s light enough to lift up in the air and use overhead. It’s not an SDS Max, but it will smash things.

Wright said they have changed over. I don’t know if they still ship older stock but I know a lot of sellers still have it.

The newer ones say 2.0 on each wrench. They are great wrenches. Really feel good in your hand and they are not going to break. I hope you enjoy them.

Well considering its back ordered I'm assuming I'm getting the newer one.

I have not. I have some ugly looking Instinct handles, and Jermey from Haasl Tools on Youtube did a vid using these. They worked well for him, figured I'd give them a try. It'll be a few days before I get to use them though. Will post then.

Had some time to do a little tool polishing with the Snap On wipes today:

They work on Mac Tools too!

Overall, huge pass. Because who doesn't like to polish their tool? :lol_hitti

People actually buy wipes from SO? Why not just get a bottle of LA's Awesome from the dollar store?

How many wipes per can?

The can doesn't look very large.

60 or so. The can is about the size of a 2L bottle, 1/4 shorter. It's full of 9"x12" towels wrapped in a tight roll. I cleaned all the tools it took to do the upper control arms, lower ball joints, and oil change on a Ranger with one towel--and had enough left in it to do half a dozen ratchets, a few other odds and ends, and wipe down the first toolbox I ever had. Not bad for 30something cents/each delivered to my door, IMO.

I've posted about my issues as often as it was relevant as I agree with you, if I know a company will leave me in a lurch should something fail, then I'll deal with someone else who will support their product and me.

Ok I think I remember that.

Given that and how smooth my Fein is I think I'm slowly defecting to the Fein camp. It's like driving a luxury car - it gives me all the feedback I need and none of the unwanted or uncomfortable feedback I don't.

Alright guys. I got home from Afghanistan last night. Over the last 11 months I’ve been buying tools. This is my SK Tool haul. Pictures aren’t the best just wanted to post up. I pick up my tool box later this week and I’ll post up again when I get the box setup.

You got me interested and I searched for these on eBay. I found a listing for $18.99. You guys didn't bother to make an offer?

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Drill-Hog-...149179?hash=item282a867ebb:g:wjEAAOSwry1aGb9o

When I got mine, I don't think it had the ability to make offers.

Thank you both for pointing me in that direction.

A couple small items new for me today:
Drill Hog USA 13 left-hand drill bit screw extractor set & a magnetic wristband.

attachment.php

Thanks for this. Wasn't in the market for these, but I don't have any left handed bits, so made an offer. $14 out the door.

NICE! For the longest time this set was $30. It's a bargain at $20 and a STEAL at $14.
