24" Anvil - $125 (Warrenton, VA)

https://washingtondc.craigslist.org/nva/tls/d/anvil/6729048602.html

Old anvil that has been handed down in the family for years, may be from the depression era. Needs a good sand blasting, very heavy, 2 feet long

The more I am looking at that lathe the more I am wanting it that would be sweet with a variable frequency drive on it I am thinking of getting into turning and trying to sell my items again and a production style set up with two lates would be nice if he still has it when I get my Social Security check I think I am going to call him and get it it's about an hour from here I'd say maybe a little further.
Pittsburgh Craigslist
OLIVER MODEL 51-D WOOD LATHE - $225 (Uniontown 15401)

3 phase need a VFD.
Looks good
Good price too.

Go get this one!

Someone who can handle three phase should get in there car/truck and jump on that, Thats a smoking price.
Word of caution, the motor is a direct drive and has no belt, you're stuck with a three phase motor but it's an excellent lathe with four speeds. Recently, one sold for $3K for a complete one. The hand cranked compound tool carriage is missing on this one but that's not a deal killer, especially for $225.

The ways look clean. It has a 1-1/8"-8 TPI spindle thread so be sure you can 1st find a face plate for it. You can buy adapters for these spindles at woodcraft for $20-30.

These are very heavy, around 600-800 lbs.
I have one of those it is heavy. I found a deal today in the South Bay I wish I had time to get to but not going to make it so here you go.

https://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/tls/d/assorted-woodworking-tools/6728651934.html

The stack of boxes on the bench are all Lie Nielsen and priced extremely well if unused as the ad claims. The rest looks pretty good too

Are you saying that has a compound Carriage alignment for longitude and cross-feed like a pattern makers lathe or a metal lathe? That would be really sweet because like I said I wanted to get into production things and if I could get a carriage for it that would be nice it would be nice for roughing down blank stand for the little boxes I make I make a lot of them kind of plain Jane but they look nice they are generally straight and about the size of a coffee cup. I am in the sourcing materials phase of adapting one to my other lathe but if this one has a provision for it with a rack then I'd be further ahead of the game? I have a carriage off a atlas 10 or 12 inch lathe I'm not sure now and some Acme thread and pillow blocks you get the idea I have to make a compound of some sort though as the carriage was not complete that I sourced from eBay. But if that Oliver in Uniontown PA has a provision again with the rack and everything like I said I would be that much further ahead of the game to find an original equipment manufacturer all of her compound if that's what you were saying?
I would probably do a wiper motor conversion to hit like I did on my Logan Lathe for electric variable speed feed to the Oliver lathe hopefully my new one.

Super jealous! Be sure to ask him about missing parts. Don’t be in a hurry to get loaded and go. If he remembers where the compound is you’ll be happy to have spent an hour chatting.

I don’t believe that they all came with the compound, so it may not be missing, but worth a try.

Wilton 4" bullet at a garage sale in San Jose, CA.

No price listed so maybe worth passing by for those early birds.

Update: seller asking for $350. Not a good deal.

Wilton 500S for $300 in San Jose, CA. A decent price for a 500 in the Bay, maybe.

It looks like the anvil has been beat and the jaw faces look worn. These are less common than 4" and 3" bullets around this area.

Update: SOLD

Starrett Athol 924 Vise w/swivel base- Made in America!!! - $100 (Torrance, CA)

Good price, this particular model & year is one of my most favorite vises ever, hard to find one in this good of condition with removable 4" jaws and with a swivel base, looks complete. Replacing broken screw shouldn't be too much hassle but needs to be done. Slide looks to be in excellent condition and handle is straight. For this one, It's a good price but he's asking $100 so probably offer $75-$80.

Great find Macgee
That one is in excellent shape with just a little broken screw problem. No biggie.

I was in Los Angeles yesterday morning but am home now. :(
I usually check C/L when I’m done there..for some reason I didn’t. Too bad for me.
Let that be a lesson to all of you good deal searchers...

Clearly overpriced now at $298
I bought a Reed 3C, a better vise, in better shape for that price.

Was it the 3C that was listed in the Bay Area a couple of weeks ago?

I was thinking about getting it but decided to wait for one that has removable jaws.

No, I picked mine up from a C/L listing in July. Mine does have the forged in place jaws.
The C series Reeds are incredible vises and usually worth every penny you have to pay to get one.

I think that's what I meant in a roundabout way. :headscrat

If it's not, then it's a coincidence. That CL ad began at $400, but then the seller dropped the price to $300. It was removed shortly after.

Anyway, great looking 3C.
