Thanks! Yep a exciting day for sure. Garage cleanup day today as a total disaster from the last few months marathon. Longer drives planned for near future. Still curious as what the MPG will be steady cruise @ 65 mph. See if I hit the goal of 14+ May be a little iffy as cam is a bit rowdy . .

Thanks a bunch! Are you sure that's same spot? I don't see no birds on the power wire! Ok, A few similarities I suppose . .

Today it goes back in the main shop! Spent yesterday shoveling out the mess from the last few months of Hurricanes, Tornado' and the Tsunami that hit.

The Vacuum pump and reservoir showed yesterday. Did put a couple more miles on it yesterday. The power brakes are kinda there but not quite just not enough vacuum. (8-9") The pump will turn on @ 15 and shut off @ 20.
A pump of on n off of brakes and vacuum too low now. With traffic on freeways gotta make sure I can stop.

Speaking of stopping gotta add a brake light switch and plug in the column wires so I can have a horn and turn signals.

Then its do a bit of buffing to get all the trim on and after a few miles of enjoyment I can Color Sand n' Buff the entire truck.

Not quite yet but Oh so close now! I think the train in the tunnel coming towards me the past 10 yrs must have turned its lights off. Other light peaking thru.

In main shop! Finally. Bit more room to work. Much better natural lighting.

Camshaft a bit rowdy vacuum a bit low do installing a vacuum pump that will keep it between 14-20”.

Have right side trim done except door lock.

Getting there! Hoping one more week and I can take it to first outing. Cars n Coffee Scottsdale.

In shop @ 5 am again hoping to wrap many things up today. Enough go go further than a couple miles at a time.

Weather will drastically cool after Wednesday this week so no more outside work until spring for me. I have a lot of stuff outside to make room to work in.

I quit all outside stuff when day time high is under 60. Rough yeah...

Mechanical stuff very close but still trim & wiring to do. Fair amount on interior.

Another step forward! Wiring cleaned up underhood, vacuum pump in, side trim on, tailgate hardware installed, fuel neck/cap installed. Keep plugging along trying to meet yet another goal. Make it good enough for cars n coffee December 1st.

Hoping by tomorrow evening it will be ready for that longer test drive.

Spent most of day making brackets for OverDrive switch and brake light switch.
Originally the brake light switch was a pressure switch on master cylinder.

I had ideas kinda sorta how I wanted OD switch bracket to look but today it finally “clicked” how to do it.

Same with brake light switch. Just never attempted either. Kept putting them off.

Piece of 1 x 2” rectangular tube did the trick. All one piece. Few cuts a couple welds, a bit of drilling. I made it match mount for period correct Tachometer.

So OD Wired except for ground.

The new OD switch mounted in same factory hole as the Factory OD would be.





Radio full restored but Bluetooth added. The little switch in factory hole for deluxe heater.



Barn Find Alert!!!! New truck with 6.15 miles found! Ordered October 10th 1965 and delivered November 2018.















Hoping to polish remaining interior aluminum trim tomorrow & get it installed. Maybe tomorrow will be longer test drive day.

I have 6 1966 Trucks. That truck is Eco1.
This truck I still have. It’s Eco2

Hopped up 3.5 Eco needs paint and assy.



This is Eco1. It has 3.5 with late model chassis and interior.

The current project orange/white is 427 Truck. I have owned going on 19 yrs. tore it apart in 2008.

This one will be the clone of my dad’s.
The one he bought new October 10th 1965. Red/Red. Of course there is still the ‘66 F100 Short Bed with a 2019 Raptor engine and full chassis/interior like Eco1.

While following the squirrel I remembered this one. 1966 F600 slammed with a 20’ camper on back riding on a 2020 F350 chassis with a 500 hp 1000 lb ft TQ 6.7 power stroke.

Ha! Just having a little fun with 1966 Trucks. Still got the 1966 F100 short bed with 3.0 v6 project sitting here collecting dust too!

So, if I finish one every 10 yrs. one can see where this is going.

Beautiful job on the red truck! It’s good to know nothing works better than a pretty hose clamp to hold the tach on, I like the cork material to protect the column.

Jeweled look is factory on the custom cabs. Original bezel to the truck. Rechromed then sprayed with PPG Urethane Clear to protect it. Otherwise any strong type cleaners will remove the chrome. I restored all the gauges too. Lots of tedious work. That’s why it’s long past 10 yrs it’s been apart.
