Thanks, you’re right it’s just for looking at this point.Good stuff Twertsy.
Smitty, beautiful job.---But now it's a non-user.---It's just for looking at.
Thanks Gman.Smithy
Great job, looks fantastic![]()
Two things:
- The screw has been replaced (probably non Wilton)
- and you should never post a live CL link for something not yet in your hands. -Lots of lurkers will try to scoop you on the item...
Thanks KMS, that means a lot coming from you. I’ll have to switch over to the app to post jaw pics.Very nice Smitty, how are the jaw faces? Kinda my thing.
Anybody familiar with this Columbian vise ? It's just.. different.
Cant enlarge the pics to see a model number clearly . Looks like an exposed screw model.
Price is reasonable.
Brian
Thanks, I sent your comment to my SIL, he's probably with the seller right now. I removed the link.

may be missing a chunk of static jaw casting at bottom below the screw.

As long as the screw on that C3 is indeed the correct thread pitch for the original Wilton nut, it's length shouldn't be an issue. I replaced my Wilton 600's screw with a brand new one just for cosmetic reasons and it turned out the new 600's are a bit longer. I had to shorten it.He got it for $50, he's a metal shop teacher and is going to let the kids work on it.

Very nice sir. You can be very proud of that restoration and I especially like that gray hammered finish. It's been a while since my last vise post, so I thought I'd share a before and after pic of my "new" old Wilton C0.
Bought it at an auction last spring, cleaned it up and mounted it on my bench. The paint is Rustoleum Hammered gray, brushed on. Also added some bumpers on the handle to make it less "clanky". Date code is 6-69.
It replaced my 4" Wilton bullet which I thought was a little too big for my needs. This one fits my bench a little better, plus has the pipe jaws which come in handy.
Thanks for looking.

Pennypincher on adjustable stand.
You can find a Pennypincher on eBay just about any day of the week.

Here are some more pictures of the Triumph vise. It’s pretty different in how they enclosed the screw and nut on this brand of vise. The jaws are 60mm or 2 1/4 wide and opens around 2 1/2in and weighs about 5lbs. I’m kind of thinking it may be forged instead of cast since the jaws have a very thin cross section.

I have a quick favor to ask of anyone who has a Prentiss 56 or 96 w/ removable jaws.
The dynamic jaw/slide from the badly broken Prentiss no.5/no.22 I have is in pretty decent shape. I'm trying to detemine if it will fit the 6" non swivel jaw vises as well.
Here's a catalog page I've got saved with all 4 varieties.
The non swivel jaw vises(56/96) are listed as opening 10" and the swivel jaw versions (5/22) are listed as opening 9". I'm thinking the dynamic assembly was the same but the swivel jaws opened less due to the body of the vise being longer.
Here are the critical dimensions of the dynamic from a swivel jaw version.
22 7/8" long slide (measured underneath end to end)
Slide is 2 3/4" by 4"
Lastly, from the bottom of the slide to the center of the jaw screw is right about 8 1/2".
Much thanks in advance for any help. The more models this will fit the greater chances I have of helping a broken vise live on!

That’s an easy one...
It’s a “penny pincher” model
Interesting shape...light duty “homeowner” category vise.
Looks good in bright red. GJ member zrx61 posted a pic of one long ago.

Thanks for the kind words.Smitty,
I don't usually like the old vises painted to look new. There are a few times where that hasn't been the case. The job you did on this vise is outstanding!

Pelletman, that A.S. looks in real nice condition as far as the pics show.---Looks like a 5'' or 6'' vise so I'd say it's worth it, maybe a little more, but as always, maybe the seller will take a little less.![]()

I was really impressed by the paint color you used. Looks very good.
Had to smile at your vise "was a little too big for my needs" statement. You might as well be speaking a foreign language as most that follow this site will not understand that.
