Not so much a hand tool, but Craftsman's old precision measuring stuff was GREAT.

I'd also LOVE to see the old square handled Mac screwdrivers again.

Actual curved jaw Channellocks. My 420’s are the single tool in my toolbox that, if something happened to them, I’d have to give up working on anything in my house until they were replaced.

I really like these locking socket drivers by VIM, but after I recommended them in another thread, folks reported that they have been discontinued.

Those look nice. Extend through the handle like they should. An impact version would great. Anybody make something like this that can be used with an M12 stubby?

I've always liked the Craftsman 12V Nextec tools which are no more. I now have 18V Hitachi and Ryobi and shelves and drawers full of 12V and 18V Milwaukee, but I still often grab the Nextecs because they're comfortable in my hand and sweet & easy to use. Every single Nextec tool that I bought ** years ago is still working (ok, at least partly because I'm kind of lazy and don't use any of my tools all that much) (except for the Craftsman bottle opener), but now they're irreplaceable. I still use them tho because I like them, plus tools are meant to be used.

If you're referring to the red and black handled version, I've got almost a complete set- and a few extras- which ones do you need?
I bought a bunch when Sears clearanced them out open stock for $1.88 each.

Even got some torx... Actually... My local Sears still has a cardboard box with about 20 left right now... But all oddballs like t27 and scratch awls.

I'm going to say

craftsman mid lengths.

Craftsman pro/industrial wrenches. SK and Armstrong.

Williams b-52, s-52-53.

Herbrand extensions with hex on the outside of the female square end. Favorite extensions.

Also agree with the snap on made kobalt stuff. Those were great quality, and very well priced hardline tools.

Snap On deep offset double box end 12 point short SAE wrench sets.

Not like main manufacturers to just discontinue a pattern, I mean they had all the tooling.

Must be really low sales volume.

The entire Craftsman Professional line. High(er) end USA made tools at very affordable prices including a line of very nice tool boxes. Great idea, poorly executed and then taken out to pasture.

Speaking of which i'll add-on Armstrong made Matco XL combos too. Pretty much my favorite basic combo wrench.

agree 10000% :beer::thumbup:

I too am going to vote for the return of the Craftsman RHFT ratchets. Noting more iconic quality made Craftsman than those ratchets.

Craftsman industrial. Didn’t know they exsisted until they started hitting sears outlets. Well made and even at full price they were still a bargain for a top of the line made in the USA hand tool.

A quality Yankee screwdriver. My dad had some when I was a kid and they actually worked really well. I've seen them off and on more recently but they seem cheap and flimsy.

Not a real competitor to cordless drills, but they were neat and would be handy for a cars tool box or similar where battery powered tools can't be relied on.

Koken ratchet with Wiha Softfinish grip. It's the best of both worlds. Koken makes pretty much the best ratchets for discerning people, but the German screwdriver companies (Felo, Wiha, Witte, Athlet, Wera) have the best, ahem, handle on grip ergonomics.

That's the first thought that came to my mind when I saw this thread. I just bought a second one the other day off eBay in great shape for $36. It was a S-K Wayne one. The 3870 is my favorite ratchet to use.

Those look pretty sweet! I would have definitely bought a set if they were still for sale.

I've always thought that there were not enough quality socket drivers in the market. Usually they're an afterthought and manufacturers assume that most users only care about ratchets. I know a few companies make good ones, Snap-on, Wera, etc., but they're few and far between.

I have that set in 3/8" drive and the MAC set in 3/8" .. both are really handy to have

Here's the one I have of those. With 5.5mm nutdriver tip.

Nice handle shape, looks well made. But I was hoping it was 1/4" hex and it's not, so it's not of much use to me.

This is the best ever drill bit index. It holds #1-60 AND 1/16" -1/2" and rotates on a carousel. It takes up about 5" and is made of metal. It's now unobtanium.

Whoa that drill index is pretty snazzy. Looks like it holds numbered and fractional sizes on the same index? Was it made by Huot, or some other company?

Entire Armstrong line. Snap on made a pistol grip ratcheting screwdriver and 1//4" drive ratchet. I had one for years. Mine broke and my snap on guy gave me a ratcheting screwdriver of my choice instead.

Carlyle P90 1/4 flexhead ratchet.
It still appears to be available in Canada at NAPA branded as the UltraPro.
One of our brothers in Canada want to pick one up for me and trade me something for it?

That ratchet is unavailable anymore? I bought one a few years back, $20-25 if I remember. It needed lube but it is a really nice ratchet.

I'll jump in this thread and add a few things. I wish the Craftsman Pro line was still available. Really like the wrenches and 84t ratchets. I have a bunch of the Napa made Witte screwdrivers, they're still out there but not by Napa. I've tried a bunch of other brands/handles/even other Witte styles and still go back to these. Just a good fit for my hands.

So I was in need of a small flat head today and as always i grabbed the best screwdriver i have ever owned, this Wiha was given to me when i worked at a production plant years ago that produced jet walks for airports and its main purpose in that job was used to terminate wires into blocks at the main control panel for the cab section of the jet walk. In the years since i left that company (greatest decision I’ve ever made) I grab this screw driver for everything, disconnecting wire quick connects, any kind of fine work, removing c-clips from various projects, Hell I’ve even pried things with it, when i say everything i mean it, this old girls got some miles on her.

She’s never let me down through all the abuse i have put it through it doesn’t skip a beat. Not only that but i swear it was molded for my hand just love the way it feels and the length is supper helpful. So i jumped online to see if i could source a set of brothers and sisters to join the family. I already knew that Wiha discontinued these but i thought i had found and saved a site IMG_5713.jpgIMG_5714.jpgthat had a 5 and 10 piece set......no such luck i missed the fine print where it said none in stock. Tried eBay....nothing. I will continue the search maybe one day I’ll get lucky on a used set or even some singles. I can’t for the life of me figure out why such an amazing tool would get discontinued. When i left that $hit company that driver went with me (i gave them a whole lot more work then they ever gave me pay for, no remorse on this one i feel i more than earned it)

So there it is maybe some of you guys would like to share some of your absolute favorite tools that for some reason the manufacture made the grave error in no longer producing and you never let them out of your sight for fear they will grow legs and be gone forever.

Cheers [emoji482]

I got these last year from the Wiha clearance web site. There are probably some out there somewhere

.

No longer available as Carlyle here is the U.S., if I ever end up in Canada soon I'll be stopping by NAPA to see if I can pick one up.
