I'll leave it to others to judge whether this is a super deal, since I don't know much about them....however, there is a milling machine for $300 in Redwood City CA:

https://sfbay.craigslist.org/pen/tls/d/redwood-city-super-heavy-duty-drill/6807807660.html

"Super heavy duty drill press or milling machine with a Bridgeport type head. I have been told that this machine was originally used in automobile production. Very rigid machine. Looks to be from the 1960s or 1970s and is very high quality. Made in Italy. It has 8 speeds forward and reverse. Motor is 3 phase 1.2 HP. This machine runs super smooth and the spindle is quiet and true. Spindle down/up feed in working order. Spindle travel is 5.5". Spindle taper is CAT 30. There is no knee, just a big 36" x 20" table with 5/8" T-slots. I had it set up as a single op using an XY milling table. Could also be set up with a rotary table. It is rock solid! The shop made base that the mill is sitting on is included with the machine. The CAT 30 tool holder (3/4") in the spindle is included. The overall dimensions are D35" x W36" x H49". "

actually Dallas, OREGON is on the west coast.;)

Whoa! I didn’t notice that. I searched ALL of Craigslist for vises last night and when I saw Dallas I thought of you, protegeV. I didn’t check to see anything about location once I saw Dallas. Sorry.

Anyway, YES, bubinga, that brand is somewhat of a “sleeper”. Everybody is looking for Wilton bullets or maybe Reed and has never heard of other excellent brands from the glory days of American manufacturing. IMHO, Desmond Simplex is right up there with other relatively unknowns like Rock Island, Athol, Morgan, etc.

Here is one currently being offered on C/L near me. Sure it’s been cleaned up and repainted but the guy is asking $250. He might get an offer near that and get it sold. Those are great vises!

Buying them in solid condition, still in original paint like that one in Oregon, makes a lot of sense at only 45 bucks.

Appreciate the thought :D

I would have assumed TX as well, but I immediately noticed the prefix in the url said "salem"

At least it's actually in OR. I can't tell you how many times I get pissed off when I see an ad on CL for something I'm interested in posted in the local DFW section, but the location is OK, LA, AR, etc. Yeah, because 350 miles away is close enough

Did you see this one in WA?

Is this one any good?

The people who use them all seem to like them. That’s the most I’ve seen them go for.
Not at all a collectible. OK for a user, say most people.

If you enjoy using precision equipment, look elsewhere.

Check out the big vise thread here on GJ.

Thanks for the info!

I won't be getting it- I'm running out of room and that thing would take up too much real estate ion the garage.

Snap on tool box - $250 (Princeton) (MA)

Screen Shot 2019-02-06 at 19.27.24.jpg

from the logo on the box, it must have "fraction slides" rather than roller bearing slides. I can tell you from experience, if you use the box every day, it is no big deal, but if it sits for awhile in a northern winter, those drawers can get pretty stiff out there in the unheated garage.

it is a great box, though. I have four of these tops, two older friction (kr550), and two newer ball bearing (kr650). depending on the shape (notice only one image) I would consider 200$ pretty fair.

note that it weighs 150 pounds.

You’re really hitting it! The deals you uncover keep rolling in. I wish I had more space. :(

Needless to say, that table saw is gone already.

You and me both Shiftless. That bandsaw in Redwood City is in great shape, but the seller needs the space for his kids' stuff.

Somebody else obviously did as well.

I see the dreaded...

This posting has been deleted by its author.

Those Starrett Athol vises are considered by many to be best in class.

(I have one but it’s missing the pipe jaws). $75 for that one is definitely getting into “you ****” territory.

if someone here bought that snap-on top I mentioned a few posts ago (it is gone off CL now), and are interested, here is a bottom that fits. sez 350$ firm, but the posting is also a month old. the box is kinda rough, but still completely usable. it seems to me that there was a hybrid version of this box, with ball bearing slides on the bottom drawer, and friction on the rest.

Snap on tool box - $350

I have an older snap on tool box, ( model kr555d ) its well used but very solid built, still got a lot of life left. Brand new ball bearing slides in bottom drawer and also one upper drawer has new slides as well. It shows paint wear and drawer faces are dinged and dented. I repaired some of the lower ones and freshened up the paint and it looks a lot better. May continue if i get time. Has caster wheels and brakes. Wheels have grease fittings. Will most likely survive a zombie apocalypse, ice age, tornado, hurricane, volcanic eruption, etc. And probably already has!!!!!! I have another lock and key that works so it could be locked again if desired. Vintage quality box for cheap money! $350 cash, FIRM. Vintage sled trades maybe. Cat, deere, scorpion, rupp, etc. No ski doo

Powermatic 14" Bandsaw no motor. Steal of a price. Wish I had time to grab it myself.

How did I miss this ad posting last night?!? I've been searching pretty hard for one for months but apparently my Craigslist foo isn't so strong. I'm not even sure if it's a 141 or 143 but I just emailed him telling him I'll take it if it's available. I can't imagine him still having it. We will see. Anyway, thanks for the heads up!

I, like many of us here, scour craiglist looking for deals. I figured we could all post the deals that we find but dont need in one condensed thread to try to help out other members.

I think something like this format will work

Region

Location

Item

Price

Link

Location
Honey Brook, PA

Item 5"
Vintage Redseal Vise

Price $65

Link http://lancaster.craigslist.org/tls/3124012919.html

I hope this catches on, as I am always finding cool stuff that I have to pass up on! Please don't turn this into self promotion either!
I sort of think A picture would be nice too.
Just for "fun" sort of.(GJ Likes pictures)
You can usually just right click on the picture/ Copy/
Click in post text window, hold down Ctrl then tap "V"

It was $100. No dice on me being it's new owner though. Shortly after I emailed him the ad was deleted from Craigslist and I never heard anything back. That's the second one I've missed in a month which is a bummer. If anyone has a lead on one for short money I'm all ears and beers

I agree with you on the pictures, I'll be sure to follow that format plus a pic when I post something.
