Yep, sounds about like my organization system....

Except for the main users and the "Branded" boxes, all my "misc", wrenches are in separate double wide card file drawers for DOE's, DBE's and Combos.

In those drawers, unless they are a set, they are separated into the "Big pile" the "Small Pile" and the "Medium Pile"...

I have about 10 boxes and bins full of good stuff like this. In my spare bedroom, I have a couple of filing cabinets full and sorted pretty well. But, at some point, I need shelving and bins so I can start sorting and labeling ect. I was thinking today.. man I really should sell something....

Regular Tuesday auction yielded a few good buys
Craftsman Impact Wrench $1
Tool to push nails into picture frame $3
3 pcs shave hook set made in Sheffield England $3
Stanley saw along with various other tools
Craftsman wood lathe $42.50

The craftsman wrenches sold for more than I wanted to pay.

Bought a Hitachi air compressor for $40 because my friend NEEDED money. Then he tried to pawn his hitachi plasma TV ($4k new) but it’s too old. So I traded the air compressor for the plasma so he could pawn it for $$

I told him I’d sell him back the TV for the $40 investment I initially put in. He gave me $20 back...

He was showing me some old tools his step dad had, and he was talking about selling some stuff. I told him if I had the cash on me, I’d buy the crescent wrench. He gave it to me, but I told him I’d trade it for the TV and I’d forget the $20...

So that’s how I turned a $4000 tv into a crescent wrench

Well here is an awesome CL score. Its a 1938/1939 Craftsman table saw.. Guy I got it from said his gradfather purchased the saw new way back when! Haven't tested the motor or anything yet. It has a micro adjustment on it that is in 1/64 increments and it turns smooth as butter! Can't beat this for $40!ca11c4670d5eb5be049f6ccc1b5f5e6a.jpge33a5b11f00708b841c190a4b7538d36.jpg620a8de64341216f7798186f54d24a47.jpg320896303e95e55bdb3c6a5cd852d032.jpg338c795eb28f75540e9a116d29388160.jpg57cb419a90d3e0b3ebc9dd3382723d94.jpg9793d13d4677389dd7291c74ecbf23b1.jpg91c7556792ba6bcce68b1a032492838b.jpged513669d71e3a623684bfaa207d000f.jpg

I'm trying to decide if this should be an S.A.T. question or an SNL skit. I've read it three times, my head hurts, and I still can't figure out if you got a deal or you got burned!

:lol_hitti

I’m still trying to figure that out myself! :lol_hitti

In reality, the money doesn’t matter. He is a really good friend trying to start a business. I didn’t need the air compressor, or the TV. I will get more use out of the crescent, and knowing his stepdad worked for Boeing, Lockheed Martin, etc, this wrench has probably worked on some cool stuff

A farmer needs to row his air compressor, plasma tv, and crescent wrench across the river but can only take one at a time.....

Justin, USUCK for that working 8" T-saw complete WITH the table extensions for $40. Do you have the miter or the blade guard?

That Was built by Atlas (of the Atlas/Clausing Mills, Lathes, machine tools fame). Very good saw!

One warning: The one weak spot are the Zamack Gears for tilting and raising/lowering the blade. clean those well and lube them well, as well as any of the shafts that drive them as well as the micrometer fence adjusting gears.

Other than that, its a tank, and should last another couple of generations treated right.

I have one complete and one that needs a motor bracket, (those motor brackets did change design from 1937-1941 (those are the catalog years)

Was out of town over the weekend and dropped by my favorite pawn shop in Phoenix. I always find something there. Here's the little pile I grabbed.
The mini CO2 gun should be great once I find the replacement seal, and the TruTest ratchet works nice after derusting and lubing. A pair of Snappy tools as well.

This is an unusual find. USAF parachute for air crew members, 28 feet in diameter. Dated 2002. It was used for survival and bailout training and was deemed unserviceable for actual use. And about half of a WWII aircrew members parachute, 24 feet in diameter. $5 for both at a small flea market.

First time garage sale post in 2019.

Got these the past weekend but they were so incredibly nasty and covered with grease/dirt so I wasn't even sure what I had until a lot of cleaning.

I just knew I had been looking for swivel sockets and even a couple of Harbor Freight sets would run the $50 I paid for these three sets.

I just wish the impact swivels had been SAE since there isn't much metric stuff on my Camaro. :)

SAE Chrome Snap On - FS32 1", FS28 7/8", (3/4" missing), FS20A 5/8", FS18A 9/16", FS16A 1/2", FS14A 7/16, FS12A 3/8"

Metric Chrome Snap On - all FSUM sizes 19, 18, 17, 16, 15, (missing 14), 13, 12, 11, 10

Snap On Flank Drive® Shallow Swivel Impact Socket - 11pc, complete from 9 - 19

Outlaw once I get it torn down I will thoroughly inspect those gears and check for any signs of abuse or failure. Worst case I source some that will work.. Won't get a chance to check into it for at least another 2 weeks though. But I'm definitely looking forward to it.

Talk about a score on those universal sockets!!

Oh and no miter gauge or blade guard sadly. Still a great score none the less.. I had been looking for an older craftsman saw but was not expecting to come across this one but I am sure glad that I did.

Damon18, welcome to the 2019 Garage Sale thread and YOU ****!!!

That's a real nice score.

50 Bucks!?
For 3 Snap-on swivels.
The **** is strong in this one Oboe Wan.

Thanks! Honored I feel.

Pure luck however, I actually felt I was over-paying at the time because of the condition, but really wanted some USA swivel sockets. Had no idea how expensive :yikes: the Snap-On swivels were until I looked on eBay after I cleaned them up.

At the last minute we decided to go to an estate sale in Napa, CA that looked like it probably had some worthwhile tools. It was an unexpected pleasant surprise to run into GJ member Notlob, who we hadn’t seen in a while. We picked in tandem for a while, sometimes finding tools for one another. Here are some pictures of my purchases. The first is everything, the second Craftsman. Third is S-K and the fourth is P&C. The fifth shot is Thorsen, including a lot of unplated sockets, followed by the obligatory Barcalo. Last are a couple of PowrKraft drivers that Notlob spotted for me.

Picked these up this morning. The Kennedy toolbox was a surprise buy. Went to get the 10" Craftsman quick-release woodworking vise and he offered to sell me the toolbox. It almost has no rust on it. Good shape except the lid must be a tiny bit wonky as the right side clasp is hard to loosen to open the lid. It came with the tray too. Not bad for $10. Overall, I spent $60 this morning.

I posted these in my garage thread, but wanted to share these with you all because they were acquired via estate sales and Ebay.

I did consider that, but all three handles have a faint impression of the company name. I fear wiping them out altogether if I sand them down. I'll try to grab some pics if I can.

These hammers were originally flat black, but I like this color better.

Had no idea how expensive :yikes: the Snap-On swivels were until I looked on eBay after I cleaned them up.
You think eBay is expensive go to their website and see the prices off the truck lmao.

After seeing what the impact swivels cost it doesn't make sense for me to have them sitting in my toolbox as nice as they would look there!

A 11pc impact swivel set exactly like my IPFM is on the auction site right now (item 362590600954) for $375 and the current version of these sockets sell new for about $50 each at Snap On. :shocking:

So I think I'm going to use the "sell an item like this" and post it for $275 ($25 per socket) for a quick sale. I'll probably also sell the 9 metric chrome swivels but not as sure what to price them at.

Not sure any of this is an appropriate discussion for this forum so if you have suggestions or info to share please feel free to PM me.

Yes, yes, it is absolutely appropriate! Although we mostly focus on acquisitions on this thread, I for one think it healthy to occasionally mention resale value. Other than investigating other people's "You ****!" declarations, it may be hard to learn what's desirable and what's not. I for one like to know what items bring good coin on resale, because I like to flip enough stuff to pay for what I keep. That's why almost all my Snap-On finds go up on the 'Bay. As you saw, they go for stupid money.

Our only caution is that we don't want folks promoting their own sales on this thread. It tends to feel a little oily and self serving.
