I think we need some pics of the house and some sneak peaks of the RV and “toys” that will occupy this amazing shop...

I’ll post up pictures of the toys once the build is done. Made some more progress with drywall and T&G roofing on the deck.

This is one awesome shop. You should move into this and your old house be the guest house. LOL. Congratulations man. Keep posting us pics please!

Awesome build. Lots of great functional and entertainment/hangout space.

Any reason not to have a door between the great room and the mezzanine to connect the large second floor areas or have access to the garage from indoors? It looks like it was framed in the earlier pictures but filled in the last post.

Had to be walled up to appease the county ordnance. The inspector said if there is a door, the loft over the garage counts as living space and makes us go above what we were permitted for. No door makes it storage for the garage. We left the header so we can open it up later on if we want.

I wondered that, always throwing a wrench. Save it for secret door in an entertainment center on that wall...to the Bat Cave!

Drywall is going up. I’ll have a ton of pictures over the next few days. I’m very happy with how it’s turning out.

Holy shiznit. You're redefining "garage-mahal".

You're operating in a different space from the majority of the country/world with a half million dollar garage.

At least that's what that thing would cost here. Have fun.

I’m ok with that lol. I wish I could get away with this for 500k! Welcome to California, where sewer hookup at this location is 120k just for the extension of the public utility and they don’t permit septics. Then we got the rest of the utilities/well which is about 100k, permits for everything at about 50k, 10,000 sqft of driveway at $8/ft, Architecht at 10k, etc. I’m at about half a mil before I even break ground, about double that all in. Can you believe that 4 years ago I was medically separated from the military, unemployed, newlywed with our first baby on the way and no real savings to speak of. Nothing like a baby on the way to get you off your *** and start doing something to change your circumstances.

I gotta ask. What do you do? That's a big step change from unemployed military.

I started an e-commerce business selling the things I make. I used social media to get the word out about the products and it just keeps growing.

Not too shabby, but I was actually wondering how long & wide... then I put my good glasses on & managed to read the plans you posted. Looks like it would fit on the average tennis court (including the part outside the play area). This line of thought came about while I was looking at a place that had a 120x60ft tennis court & my immediate reaction was "Damn, what a waste of a great workshop pad" :)

I know it's been said many many times, but WOW!!! Incredible. That design, land to do it, money for it...just fantastic. I'll go back to looking at my 30x36' plans...

Great build...

Sooo....the apartment is for you when the wifey figures out how much you spent on the...um...garage?

I never added my 3200 ft garage up so that I could honestly tell wifey....I have no idea dear....

looking great. keep up the good work.

being a GC is stressful. but the cost savings and learning new skills offset that.

would you do it again?
