Finally had time to reinstall the headers on my 72 d100 shorty. Got those installed, lowered the motor back onto the mounts, bolted those together, then pushed the truck out of the way to pressure wash the concrete after an overzealous helper spilled about a gallon of ATF that of course went everywhere :(

So now my concrete is minty fresh again!

Also moved motors/trans around getting ready to slide one into my power wagon project in the coming weeks :bounce:

Was working on my nieces car last week and without paying attention pulled too many drawers out of the HF box. Spent this weekend picking up tools! [emoji23]

I can see that happening which is why I've trained myself to close each drawer after getting what I need out. Then I just keep what I'm using out on a rolling cart till I'm done before putting everything away again.

You should have told us that it was Spring and you wanted to clean behind the toolbox, while you had it out, you decided to wax the back of the box, it was much easier to lay it down first.

Sad to see that box tipped over, I had that happen on my 4 drawer box. What a mess. Anyway got the box reorganized, LoL.

Finally got that vise I won from Tekton from Instagram installed and finished the two open end AN fittings on PTFE hose.

Started rehabbing my FIL's old 113 Craftsman table saw, began cleaning a Toro Porta-Heat, a Craftsman 16" scroll saw, and a little AMT grinder. I need to get a parking space cleared out before the better half get home tomorrow night.

After almost 3yrs (lol) got tired of wheeling the press around on the HF dolly, it barely fit the base and I had to be careful it didn't slide off. Love these 3" casters, very smooth even on uneven surface and only $15 on Amazon.

Also added 1" swivel wheels on this old tray that came with the Craftsman socket set some 20 yrs ago. It's now a tool creeper.

Finally got my shop up and in the shape I want. Still adding stuff as I go, but I put the pallet racks in a few days ago, and built the bench a couple days ago, finishing it today. Organized my stuff, and moved the shelby over here from my little garage to get the clutch replaced in it. I really miss my lift. This is the first time this car has been on jack stands since I've owned it, but that's life! Will get a lift here at home this year at some point. 20190328_204039.jpeg20190328_213001.jpeg

Cut up the materials for three base cabinet doors, just need to put them together. Brought the wife's Explorer in and pulled the tires. They need to get dismounted, the bead area cleaned and remounted. . . . some new valve stems too.

@KillNThrill24 I feel your pain in regard to a lift. I have access to one at my office. I just did a rear swaybar install and without it, would have taken me double the time! As it was, it took 2 hours.....

Good luck doing the clutch. I've done a few on the ground and it's no fun.

Pulled my old motorcycle out of the weeds, polished some chrome, and did some assembly. Needs a timing chain, and some odds and ends... I had parts for it floating around in the shop taking some space, so back on the bike they went... I know they have to come back off to do the timing chain, but since that project is in the distant future, I couldn’t see just having the parts floating around...

Also chopped up some old fenders and bumpers today. They don’t pay squat for scrap, so they got cut up into tiny pieces and put into the recycle bin.

Bolted half the rear end into my power wagon. I had to clean up threads on the U bolts, then discovered 3 of the u bolts are rotted at the threads. So new u bolts will be ordered in the 4WP doesn’t have them in stock. Once the rear end is bolted in, then it goes down the hill, and cab swap will be done. Then BACK UP the hill and around the house so that I can swap transmission internals to convert a 2wd to a 4wd trans. Hopefully that will be done this weekend!

Haven’t booked any work for the next week, pretty much on purpose. Gotta get caught up on a few things, and finish a few projects so I can work more efficiently!

Yesterday.... Work continues on setting up my 1 car garage shop.

I moved my Hein-Werner hydraulic to the front of my motorcycle lift. Then I mounted the bottom half of my vintage Motorcraft cabinet on the wall under the top portion of the Motorcraft cabinet.

Also removed an old wire type shelf from next to the above cabinet and hung up my HF creeper with a couple hooks. Finished the day by moving some stuff around and filled some more holes in the walls.

Today.... I cleaned up a little more around the shop and emptied a couple of boxes of parts/supplies and put them in various cabinets/shelves. Still have a lot of boxes to sort thru.

Pics posted on my Thread: Motorman55's Garage...The Beginning

Technically next to the garage. Replaced both roof vent covers on my car trailer. They got brittle and basically fell apart due to the sun. 18 years old so I guess that's not too bad.

Woman pulled out in front of me and wrecked my 73 a couple years back. Bent the frame.

Got ahold of a 4x4 truck, so doing a body swap. Got the bed on there today, cab going on tomorrow. Then I have to swap tail shafts to convert the original motor/trans to a 4x4...

Project that has been in the works for a very very long time....

after it stopped raining yesterday morning,
i dragged out a couple tarps, we used over the winter to cover patio furniture, got them folded and put away.

picked up misc tools i'd left laying out and put them away.

moved the snowblower from the garage to the shed, and fired up the riding mower for a few minutes.

fired up my s-10 blazer and moved it from around the back of the garage to the driveway. replaced a battery cable end, hooked up the battery charger, and stuck a for sale sign on it. the blazer is listed in the classifieds in case anyone is interested.

Just rearranged a section of wall hangings in the barn. Something to do since it rained all day.

Got the cab swapped. It’s a 2wd cab, going on a 4wd chassis, so a hole had to be cut.

On the bright side, drivers floor pan is solid, rockers and drip rail are solid.

Got the sheet metal hung. Nothing is bolted down, just on there. Next couple/few days will be spent lining up panels, bolting them down, etc...

Then it is all coming back apart for cleanup/paint. The goal right now is to get it together to see what parts I need, what I need to paint/resto, and what parts to trash.

Gonna be nice to get this truck back together!

It won’t look as good as it did pre accident, but it’ll be close :)

Put a head (2 cylinders in 1 head) on a 1947 John Deere B today!
Almost ready to run, just waiting for the sealants to dry (overnight).

Made a bird feeder holder from some old framing squares, bike chain, conduit and other metal bits. Also installed a water fountain on the shop sink that work was throwing out.

Kevin, that would have been the perfect time for a body lift!

Oh I was tempted!!!!

But this truck will be built as close to stock as possible, with mods to improve drivability and reliability. When it is done, it is going to my friends son Dakota. Dakota is 13 right now, so I have some time. He lost his dad in a horrific car accident, and his mom had to sell their classic vehicles to pay bills. So this truck will be built in honor of his father, be reliable so as to not leave him stranded, and 4x4 for the snowy winters they have where he lives in Indiana. If he wishes to lift it, mod it, hot rod it, he can do it.

Ok, off my soap box haha

Yesterday, helicoils installed to fix the stripped screw holes on the transmission inspection cover. Then cover, oil pan, and filter reinstalled. Lifters, pushrods, and rockers installed and preload set.

dbb7eac707744b066527e2690ba5d010.jpg

Put the intake and accessory brackets on. Was torquing the last bolt down, when I got that tighter, tighter, loose feeling. Stripped it.

Swearing ensued.

Pulled it all back apart and cleaned up the resulting mess.

Today, managed to find a 3/8-16 helicoil kit. Drilled and installed.

ee9b031916520bc64bc6723d823003df.jpg

Then put the intake and brackets on again. Got the compressor back on its bracket. New rubber fuel line installed. Still need to reinstall the alternator, upper radiator hose, and carburetor.

Hoping to fire it up for break in soon.

DGersic, me thinks you might need a shorter ratchet.lol

Torque wrench. Spec is 30 ft. lbs. Spun the bolt at 20 ft. lbs. or so.

The PO used fancy aftermarket accessory brackets, and stock length bolts, leaving only a few threads engaged. In addition to the helicoil, there’s now a longer bolt in use.

Took the 1992 John Deere diesel 430 lawn tractor apart to install a PTO for my rototiller. Took of all fuel lines to replace as they are approaching 30 years old. Yep, rotten, dry, cracked, just like the relatives [emoji41].
The fuel pickup tube that was in the tank, wasn't in the tank! Luckily the metal fuel screen/pickup was,but it needed drilled out 4 times to clean it out enough for an mek bath. All filters and gaskets replaced on said JD and a pressure wash before working on it.
Now to install the PTO and wiring harness.
My garden awaits![emoji272]

If you do nothing right, you'll do nothing wrong!

Didn't get anything done in the shop last night except open up the injectors and gaskets for next weeks project to confirm everything was there and in proper order.

I then edged, trimmed and mowed my lawn for the first time of the season followed by a thorough cleaning of my gutters to get rid of all of the gravel from the winter. Holy **** I forgot just how much curb and gutter I have.:lol_hitti

started packing up the garage. This will take a while.

Our house went on the market last night.

Plan is to find a house on 1+ acre either with a shop, or cheap enough that I can afford to put a shop up as soon as we move in. Nothing too big... hoping for a 30x30.
