Wrenchguy,

I had high hopes for the two "S" wrenches in this lot from this morning's flea market to fill some of your Silent Salesman needs (See Pic 1.)

Alas, the 661 is a 661A (whereas you need a 661D, E, or F), and it doesn't appear to be a Williams. This is now the tiniest "S" wrench I own. (See Pics 2 & 3.)

The other "S" wrench is a Williams, oval logo, Brooklyn factory, and it is the correct wrench in terms of opening sizes (1/2" x 9/16"), but it's later than 1919, when they dropped the "6" in 677B. (Not to mention the hairline fracture!) (See Pics 4, 5, & 6.)

Those 661's r small and "cute" as my grandaughter calls 'em. Thanks 4 looking out 4 'em.

heres the list, thanks 4 any help.
Oval logo part numbers wanted.

Some visual, half of them are wrong for this board layout and each 1 willbe replaced as the correct 1 comes in. I'm thinking i'm going to build another board to use up the wrong 1's that were purchased for the 1923 layout.

Got this box and the sockets of the eBay (there were other Williams sockets and a MTF extension also) and I had found the ratchet a while back in a junk shop. Now, just need the other sockets.

I found this Williams 1/2” drive extension yesterday at an estate sale. It’s not too unusual except for the AT-8708 stamped on the side. That AT number doesn’t correspond to the Merlin Packard set and was obviously hand stamped so I’m not sure what to make of it.

Don,
It might be a long shot, but I remember Plombob's old site showing a listing of the Ranger AT tools of which there was one item listed as AT 8027 (identified on the list only as "valve adjuster"). He noted that this item was not labeled as Ranger AT, but only AT with the 8027 following. The link actually worked from a thread I started several years ago, so I'm copying it here for reference.

Is that orange on the ratchet stock, or did someone do it to match the box for their OCD?

Here's one more with the orange paint. It's a B51, so 3/8's

I love how prewar tools are so much more decorated than post-war. Except for Plomb, they went the other direction.

I want to share that this 661 wrench is about 3/4 the size of the williams 661's.

A question for the experts, The new underline logo came out in 1924 and knowing those wrenches won't fit on the board because being to long would this board be withdrawn from the retailers? According to Williams literature, the board was on loan to the retailer.

Showing 24 of correct p/n with oval logo.

Nice find, Jock. I have a few. Imagine the days of toting six or seven of those around instead of adjustable water pump pliers. Strangely, Williams made them well into the late 40's long after the advent of water pump pliers. They had alligators in their catalog for a long time after they were obsolete too.

Picked up some very early wrenches at the flea this morning. See Pic 1 for group shot.

All of these are Brooklyn factory forged. Only the largest even has the oval logo.
- A 666E (1-1/8" x 1-1/4" milled openings) "S" wrench with flat handle for Hex Caps.
- An 866G (7/8" x 1" milled openings) "S" wrench with concave handle for Hex Caps.
- A 529 set screw wrench.
- And a 76 set screw wrench.

See Pics 2 - 6 for zooms on "S" wrenches.

an adjustable alligator wrench, patented 1897, just because I had never seen one.
That is the H.A. Smith patent wrench (548,019, Apr 3, 1897) made by Elgin. I'd like to run into one some day to complete the bifecta. I own the other adjustable alligator wrench, patented by C.S. Bonney (728,842, May 26, 1903) after he sold Bonney Vise & Tool Works. He moved the adjusting nut to the center. Those were called "THE VICTOR" and made by Kraueter. Link to my specimen on the Bonney thread, here.

These are for the williams repro board i'm going to build later this summer.
The rusty 1's are in the wild finds the past 15 years. I kinda just bought big 1's and left the others. The biggest is a 38" 19a, beat up oval 18, 13a, mack 45 and couple 10's oval and underliner. The new board will be a mix everything williams i got left. Maybe the 7' chain wrench too. Gotta see how things layout.

these are extra incorrect 1's from the board i'm working on now.

If you want it you can have it for the three doollars I paid plus shipping.
A very good price, of course, and offer, thanks, RJ, but it's all about the hunt and the finding for me. They are usually plentiful on eBay as well, but that's just not the same, either. Someone else "found" those! :) One will come along on my flea market haunts, eventually. If it was the last piece in a 39-piece set, and I have been looking for years, different story! You enjoy it.

A "Genuine Vulcan NO.16" by JH Williams. The body is 5" thick with nut and bolt end adding another 1 1/2". I got this at the Hudson NY Valley Engine Club auction a few years back.
