I mentioned last week that I picked up a Kennedy 7-drawer roller from a young woman who was gifted it by her dad. He is a retired tool maker. The ad simply stated "Assorted tools". There weren't any OMG! moments for me but there are some keeper tools and I'll move everything else down the road. Here are pics of most of the contents...

Kennedy 7-drawer contents (part 4)...

IMG_8474.jpg
Looks like drill bits and taps, at least 1 die or are some of these things like dies but for a lathe? Guidance here would be appreciated. :)

IMG_8475.jpg
Bondhus SAE & MM hex driver sets, multiply hex key sets - Eklind, Bonhus, Allen (2) and a cool little stubby Klein pliers.

Files

IMG_8480.jpg
Tech pneumatic 1/4" die grinder, don't know what the O things are on a bolt, bunch of metal working things, 6" Crescent adj, tap & die handle, Channellock tip kit which I think is for the 907G retaining ring pliers pictured earlier and the Gerber box cutter which is kind of cool.

IMG_8481.jpg
Dust-off cans, Starrett lubrication, Marvel oil, etc, etc, Fuller chisel, the little clamp is a Gesswein, set of burrs and polishing wheels, polished steel feeler gages appx 12" long (5), the two tins have got something that look like they'd screw onto a plate to hold things in place. ???

No pic but I filled a medium size tub with tool steel and bronze (round, square, rectangular, etc) and stuff like that.

That's all folks!

PS I got a text yesterday from the young woman who sold me the box and tools. Apparently her dad told her she needed to get the Johansson gauge back (I'd googled and seen they sell new for over $200). She let me know if it was too late she understood or she'd be willing to give some money back for it. Let her know I'm fine with giving it back to her. Nice young lady and I certainly don't want her dad being upset with her.

PPS The Gertsner machinist box she asked me to set aside which was on top of the Kennedy was the OMG box! She let me look in a few of the drawers out of curiosity and there were lots of Starrett tools in there. But made it clear that one wasn't for sale.

The Kant twist clamps are generally used for welding; the jaws will be copper and he threads of the screws copper plated.

Great score! definitely "Assorted tools" though!

Nah, it was definitely a '61. My aunt, his sister-in-law, had a red '59 which I thought was awesome even though I was pretty young. I recall being disappointed in the car my dad brought home that day. It was just kind of plain - no fins and it seemed small in comparison. That aunt and uncle always had excellent taste in cars when I was young - '58 Apache, '59 Impala, '62 Impala Super Sport.

Still you got a nice car!!!

Guys, I said a 1962 Impala Super Sport but it was a 1965 Impala Super Sport Coupe. I HAD to correct that mistake.

Txlonghorn, I see several endmills in the mix of what you are calling drill bits. Easiest way to spot the difference is drill bits come to a center point. Mostly in pics ending 72 and 73. The box in bottom left of 74 is center drills, for drilling a hole to support a center in a tailstock.

I can’t imagine how much the original owner must have paid for all the items in that box! Plus a great Kennedy box. Major suckage!

I had a hit and miss day at the flea market this morning.

The hits included an EDIT: Art Specialty Co "FLEXO" lamp, some orphan end wrenches, and a really nice high speed twist drill box from KW era. The stenciling on a faded white background like that was a WWII shipping spec that must've been carried over into KW era. And that is a wartime Federal Stock number that was overtaken by the 11-digit numbers in 1953.

The miss was idiotic indecisive me telling a vendor I would think about it after looking at a vintage wheel chock. It was huge. The chock itself was two chunks of wedge-shaped wood held together by a steel frame. The steel frame was one piece with spikes on the bottom and a handle that was a looping round rod like the kind you see on old socket wrench Tee Handles. I went back after I made one circuit and of course it was gone. Cursed myself the whole way out of the market. I'll get over it, but it was cool.

I thought the lamp was an Art Steel Co, NY, but it's an Art Specialty Co, Chicago, with a 1946 patent (2,395,178) on it. Here's the patent diagram...

Thanks guys. I'm really not that much of a Kennedy fan. Although I have always liked the machinist boxes but then I like ALL the machinist boxes. Just something about all those little drawers. Now I'm regretting selling the Kennedy 2-drawer middie last year. I gave my SIL the 11-drawer machinist chest last year too. If I'd kept that middie I could set him up nicely with it and this rolling cabinet. He loves Kennedy by the way. His problem is being real short on space.

Those Artisans remind me of Wilde-made Craftsman pliers (the forged “Alloy Steel” inside handles) which usually have the rope/cable grip pattern, but the grip pattern around the Logo also resembles the Craftsman nested diamonds pattern, which I believe was design patented by Bill Myers, the owner/president of Forged Steel Products / Snap-on. Makes me wonder again, what went on with those patterns (maybe) after the exclusive use period expired.

Unless...what if Wilde didn’t make pliers, but had them made by FSP/S-o?

Picked up these armstrong sae wrenches with the roll for $5 from a garage sale (first dibbs). Also picked up two sets of metric and sae stubby ratchetting wrenches for $30 made by paramount. Pretty good deal overall id say.

Wednesday's finds....
20190417_164703.jpg

The horse was free.....one of the "perks" of hanging around the flea late....everyone at this flea usually packs up to leave by 1:00 and someone always leaves stuff they don't want to carry home :wtf: I've "found" some pretty good stuff that way
My Granddaughter LOVES horses so now she'll have one for her Barbie dolls to ride!
20190417_164723.jpg

The two right angle extension cords, rusted dividers, and the Snap-On test light were .25¢ each and the Stanley Metric hex sockets and the no-name double sided (1/4" + 3/8") ratchet (which looks like a Proto and is smooooooth as budda) was $3
20190417_164730.jpg 20190417_164746.jpg

I compared the "new" test light to one that I bought in the early '70's......they've done away with the spring strain relief and it now has an LED(?) bulb
20190417_165342.jpg 20190417_165356.jpg

I thought I'd have to buy a new bulb, but after cleaning all the contact surfaces it's good to go......
20190417_174216.jpg

Total for the day = $4

Not a lot today.

A JH Williams & Co Superjustable 8” adjustable wrench and a 1/2” Snap on distributor wrench. Overpaid at $12 for both, but they’re both keepers, so it was worth it. I can now replace my foreign distributor wrenches with this USA one. I never liked how the foreign ones were really long after the bend. I have an oil pressure gauge line right next to the distributor and I’m always afraid I’m going to hit it. This one seems more compact, which will come way in handy. I can’t wait to use it! Haha.

Edited to show the length difference in the one I bought today versus the ones I normally use.

I just tried the snappy on a spare motor I have laying around, and it definitely does have better angles and ergonomics.

Not sure what to do with my others now....

Some "Good" finds at the flea market this "Good Friday" morning...

attachment.php

My first TUFFY screwdriver! If you're not familiar, the history on these would take a whole book to tell. Made in 1945 by the Swallow Airplane Company in Wichita, KS. Swallow was started in the 1920's by Matt Laird. Never heard of him? Well, you might recognize the last names of two guys who worked for him - Walter Beech and Clyde Cessna, before they splintered off arguing about wing placement to start their own companies. Swallow made the screwdrivers long after they went under as an aircraft mfgr. These are kinda sorta hard to find. Not that they're extremely rare. But guys who have them appreciate them so much they are under lock and key. They look like any other generic steel shank aluminum handle screwdriver. But there's a lever hinged on the handle for leverage, and they are indestructible. I will take more photos and tack them onto the end of a TUFFY thread - I know there's one on GJ.

The battery pliers are pre-Channellock No. 307 Champion DeArment. More photos later on Don's Champion DeArment thread. The ignition pliers are No. 424 Channellock.

The ignition wrenches are Duro-Chrome "E" series, missing the E63 and the E66.

The socket wrench is for radios. It has the interior knurling you sometimes see on one socket in vintage 30's and 40's midget socket sets, and also some spinners in the same era. Not marked.

And I forgot to include this Esso Happy Motoring Key Club key fob.

attachment.php

I don't even know why I picked this up. Last thing I need is another automotive knickknack niche to look for. Has to be no earlier than 1964 (Zip Code) and no later than 1972 (when Esso became Exxon). Maybe that's why. My boyhood years! :)

Lugz,

Thanks for the pics and the cool story about the screwdriver.

I remember those key fobs from my youth. My dad always had stuff like that.

I wish I still had all the Sinclair stuff i had when I was a kid.

Very nice find, Dave!

A genuine no frills Craigslist buy. Picked up this OTC 24” adjustable for 20 bucks.
:wtf: If that works like it looks like it is supposed to work (you take the nut off to reposition the "dynamic jaw", and then re-fasten the nut!?), that is no-frillsiest adjustable wrench I have ever seen! Glad you posted that, 3eeb. I had no idea it existed.

Lugz,

Thanks for the pics and the cool story about the screwdriver.

I wish I had my Matchbox collection! :)

I posted several better post-cleanup close-ups of the TUFFY screwdriver in a TUFFY thread, linked here.

I posted the Champion DeArment (Channellock) pliers here.

And I posted that funky radio cabinet offset wrench here.

Small estate sale this morning. Picked up this Snap-on 3/8dr F720 ratchet and a 3/4 chrome flex socket. The auto punch is a Craftsman along with the several USA deep offset soluble box wrenches. The key tag says GA. IN. Tube.
