I know someone mentioned this extractor set early on in the thread, but somehow I have through yard sales & trading come up with 4 of these sets.
Sort of a "then & now" comparison.
Back in the "good old days" I guess Ridgid was making the set #10.
They pressed up a case for Blue-Point. #1020
I like how the Blue-Point case also has the Snap-on name as well.
Fast forward to plastic blow mold cases...
On the left came off a Matco truck #SE100
& on the right came off Mac Truck. #SE10
In the Matco & Mac sets, the drill bits & Extractor Nut things are marked Ridgid.
Ridgid set on amazon $89.00:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000WQYJIG/?tag=atomicindus08-20
Matco set $129.00:
https://www.matcotools.com/catalog/product/SE100/25-piece-screw-extractor-set/
MAC set, now re-numbered, & comes with a larger blow mold case to take up more room so you need a new tool box:
https://www.mactools.com/en-us/Extr.../Extractors/SCEX20S/20-PC-Screw-Extractor-Set
Snap-on come in a clear winner with the Blue-Point set #E1020 at $138.00!
https://store.snapon.com/Combination-Extractor-Sets-19-pc-Extractor-Set-Blue-Point--P630634.aspx
And of course you can buy these sets on ebay all day long good use for ~$35.00

Yep, as far as i can tell all the re-thread kits are identical (matco, mac, snap on, craftsman) The plastic radiator hose pinch pliers from matco and craftsman are the same. 12 piece snap ring pliers are the same from mac to craftsman (huge price difference).

TRCOMBO-48 - Mac Rethread Kit

SPM6225206402- Kastar Rethread Kit

PK1250- Mac Snap Ring Pliers

00950464000- Craftsman Snap Ring Pliers

Im 99% sure that Irwin makes the taps and dies in Mac, Matco, and Snap On kits. So save a bunch by getting it right through Irwin.

There are a whole bunch of items that the trucks rebrand. Most all of it is good quality stuff, so theres nothing wrong with scoring it at a lower cost!

Would the quality of metal be the same with the different brands?

This may have been covered already but the matco serpentine belt tool kit has a gear wrench label inside the plastic box and is 100% identical to their apex brother gearwrench set, the wrench being labeled “matco” vs “gearwrench” is the only notable difference. Save over $100!

I have the gearwrench branded version. Very good value. If you need to expand the set, gearwrench's other pass through sockets are compatible with this.

Also for my previous post, Nupla also makes blue points heavy duty dual face dead blows, and probably a few others but not confirmed.

Another good source for deadblows is Trusty Cook. I think every tool truck and many many other industrial brands have used them for deadblows. I have several of their steel face dead blows and they're very nice. Keep an eye out for discount codes in the deals sub forum.

I LOVE this Snap-On magnetic rechargeable work light. They're small, the magnet is strong, and they take some abuse. However, it really hurts when one decides to drive off under a car @ $80-$90 each (new). These are the ones I'm talking about:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Snap-on-To...315880?hash=item443c972a68:g:U3cAAOSwzCNczH8t

I was browsing ToolDiscounter.com when I was looking for my Power Probe open/short finder, and I came across this. It's damn near identical looking, at a quarter of the cost of a new Snap-On. I've almost been wanting to "accidentally" leave my SO light on a vehicle just to have a reason to buy one or two of these. I can't fully vouch for the quality of these, but considering how similar it looks to SO, I think it's worth a try.

I suspect Maxxeon was the private label manufacturer for most of the tool trucks a year or two ago. I believe Cornwell sold/sells that exact model. The lights that have come out since then seem to be better, and are worth a look if you go light shopping. I've switched to the "stick" style lights like the Braun/Astro's and like them much more.

hi sorry if this shouldn't be posted in here, but wasn't there a PDF or spreadsheet someone had posted with all the updated tools? Im looking for that if so! Also, is the site tooltruckrebrands up to date? Not seeing any ratchets & stuff like that on there. Thanks in advance!

Edit: Does cornwell make their own screwdrivers & pliers? Really interested in their screw drivers but wanted to see if i could save a little money first lol

It doesn't make economic sense for companies to just make a relative few specialty items for their own brand, so they buy from the specialty company and have it branded. The larger production runs make it cheaper to make.

I was sad when Williams went belly up . Them, Proto and Gray were the best tools available for a millwright. The work of an industrial mechanic is different than that of an auto mechanic.

I had a google docs spread sheet available, but closed it down when TTR was started.

Williams did not go belly up. They are a subsidiary of Snap On, and still make tools in the USA. Taiwanese tools (same as Blue Point) were however added to their product line.

Maybe you are thinking of Armstrong that went belly up after they were bought out by Apex?

Nupla do, or did at some point, OEM for pretty much all the US tool companies. The thing with going with Nupla branding is the warranty is kinda iffy. They guarantee the handles are unbreakable but nothing beyond that.

Same problem with TC as Nupla. Yeah it's the exact same hammer you'd get off the tool truck but it doesn't have the lifetime warranty. Paying double up front for something that'll be replaced for free is a better option for deadblows.

If they were bought out, it's same difference. A 3/4" Superatchet was different breed all together. Other brands were dainty in comparison. After a divorce, I had to sell my 3/4" set, That was almost 40 years ago, I still miss that ratchet.

When Armstrong and Blackhawk closed down, the local tool store chain picked up the tools at scrap iron prices. So I've gotten some of both a less than Chinese junk prices.

I just had my matco rebranded Nupla 4lb replaced since the face exploded like glass, they’re no longer rebranded. He handed me a yellow handle Nupla marked hammer. So buy me he Nupla and have your matco man replace it...

The current H-51B bears some visual similarities to the old ones, but I think the mechanism is based on the Snap-On L72t ratchet. I ordered a repair kit for a L72T and after removing a bushing from the back side of the drive gear, it did fit in my recent production H-51B. I didn't try swapping the pawl and selector into my ratchet to see if they are the same too, but based on looking them over, I think they are.

Anyone know the GearWrench(?) equivalent for this blue point set? Its marketed as 'close access/tight access' for use in tight spaces and is a 1/4" square drive at one end and 1/4" bit drive at the other. Both ends are reversible, with thumb spinner wheels.

The case says Bahco, but the ratchet says VIM. Both source from Taiwan and that's what the COO is for this Bluepoint set . Nether company has anything listed that looks like this though. My guess is its exclusive to one of them or they have not published that set in any sales materials yet.

I have the GW “equivalent” to this at work. I’ll grab a picture of it tomorrow.

I bought it for a ford 6L diesel head gasket job with cab on that I’d done and I haven’t used it since. Once you put a socket on the ratchet, it is quite literally the same size as with my 1/4” flex head 120 tooth from GW.. the two ratchets the little comes with are half decent in length and offer a different variation of usability but I don’t remember ever going to grab one instead of a regular 1/4” ratchet.

If you don’t already have one, look into the 1/4” 120T flex head from GW. That particular tool has saved my bacon quite often to be honest. It comes with me on all service calls that I do as well. 56e2a9c16bf2960f5189af86bcfb9c15.jpg

Not an answer to your question of equivalent blue point set but I have a Stanley that is fairly close:

I did take a look at Bahco, the 2058S26 is along the same lines, although closer to the Stanley set above.

I gave in and bought the bluepoint set off the truck, its had a lot of use for when I'm working away from my box and not sure what size I need, plus it's in foam so doesnt grenade when you knock it.

Macneil thanks for the recommendation of the GW ratchet, I've been after a 1/4 flex head, will see if I can buy one in the UK.

Strange I have that same GW ratchet but the none flex head model, same 120T mechanism with red handle and that thing locks up on me all the time. The toggle switch just locks up. I even went ahead and bought a rebuild kit for it, eventually it started displaying the same issues very shortly.

Not a ratchet I would trust for work. Mine was just used for home use.
