Manic;

Yours looks just like my dad's, he got it at Sears in the early 80s with the roll cab too. Nice box!!

back of box in the middle says

kr 537
snap on corp
kenosha wisc
USA 74

so does it mean it's a 1974 box?

Yep. Now you go ahead and prepare it for shipping and I'll PM you my address!

Seriously, I am on the lookout for a similar box to yours...one with the five wide drawers but no smaller drawers on the side. I already have two of those boxes. :)

I see the lockwire but where is the lockwrie pliers? I have this stuff and cant wait to get to use it on my next engine build.

There's a short pair in the tray with the other pliers, look just to the right of the channel lock needle nose. Long version is in the bottom, buried.

You either aren't too proud, or someone stole your pic for a CL ad.

http://austin.craigslist.org/tls/1599924458.html

See above post. :badteeth:

I just put that ad up to see if it will sell so I can get a vintage SO box I found in a pawn shop today. I can't have both (wife said so...hahahahahaha)

If anyone here wants it, I am open to reasonable offers...(knowing this should go in the classifieds, but hey I am new here).

I will be cleaning this one up and repainting it. I am thinking of redoing the black parts black and the yellow parts a vintage brown

So this is now sitting in my shed.
Did a little more research and Eden Manufacturing is (was) a company based in Onehunga in Auckland (NZ).
Everything moves freely. Interestingly the socket tray up top isnt removable, but is able to slide back and forth. Cant wait to get stuck in and restore it

Here are the long awaited pictures of the Snap-on Cabinet. Haven't touched anything...the tools in it were as found. The base is a little weird.. The color definetely matches but its not exactly the same size as I had originally thought. Hope I didnt post too many pix.....Robert

very nice. Do the sockets on the rail have model numbers? The tools range from the mid 20s (most are 20s) thru what looks like 30s. maybe a couple of early 40s.

Congratulations Robert, Thanks for sharing! What a find! Are you planning on contacting Snap-On? Do you think you would ever sell it? Is there a museum nearby that you would be willing to display it in? Have a great day and thanks again. Don

Thanks, A few of the sockets have model # SW-260 (pat 1424069) and SW-300 with date codes 1928-1930. The others don't have anything just Snap-on with the size and date code. DO you think the bottom looks right for the cabinet? Robert

Thanks, Don. I don't know if I will contact Snap-on and there is no place in Mass that I can think of. I will be selling it to someone who can really appreciate it. (with or w/o the tools) ....Probablly will put on ebay in the next week or two.... Robert

I do not think the bottom is right, it looks to modern, and the top does not seem to fit the bottom as far as size. But the top is nice, has everything a collector would want.

K55R Made from 41-46. Lock still works and have one original key. A previous owner added the Plymouth tag and a smaller Cadillac tag not in the picture but now back in place under the Snap on plate. These pics were taken right after unloading it when I got it.

Here is my Plomb 9980 toolbox. Picked this up a few weeks ago off eBay. Have not done anything with it yet but it seems to be in great shape. There is a large spot of paint on the top and someone has added a long hinge for the lid, did a decent job with it and works well. The paint is nice and check out the decal on the inside! I am not an expert but it looks original, very nice condition. I use my old boxes and like to restore them but might have to leave this one alone!

you might be able to remove the spot with lacquer thinner, but I would test a small spot first. nice box.

I'd leave that one alone, Hellcat. It looks pretty good the way it is.

Love that Plomb logo!

Yeah, I think you are right. Perfect place to store my growing Plomb collection. I actually use my Plomb tools, most of which came from my grandfather. Used them just this weekend while pulling the engine out of my 70 Mach I.

That Plomb reminds me of my Thorsen because of the fold down front.

Beach toolbox from 1979

My dear departed dad got this in 1979. He never used it too much, and I'm only a weekend warrior, so other than a bit of white paint that got splashed onto it while I was cleaning brushes years ago (Doh!) it's in excellent shape.
