I ordered the SK crowfoot set through my Mac dealer and it's taking SOOO long to get it. It's been 2 1/2 months! What's going on!?!

Their factory went on strike from what I heard. They're headed for the end of the road soon. I would have bought the C-man set too but I'm finding buying used SO at the flea and on feebay is about equal.

I ordered a simple 3/8th ratchet rebuild kit from them on 8/24/09 and just received it last week. There must be a huge backlog from them being on strike.

Sk seems to be very odd with the deliveries. I ordered a set of long handled tuff 1 ratchets and had several other warranty items on 1/9/10. Last week I got the 1/4 ratchet a wrench and 3 sockets. The dealer said he still had outstanding orders from last April. Still waiting on the 3/8, 1/2, 2 wrenches, and 2 sockets, and a rebuild kit. I sure hope sk doesn't go under. Love there tools

I have pretty much cleared out all my SK stuff over the last few months for good reason.

I love SK as well, although SO dominates my box, Ive been slowly dumping mine, and stopped buying new SK, only because I'm thinking what everyone else is, its like musical chairs and I dont want to be still standing when the music stops!

Not sure what is up with SK. I've been waiting on a roll pin punch I sent in for warranty 7 months ago. They say they have me on the list but it's still out of stock, so I know it's not lost.

How does a manufacturer stay out of stock for 7 months?

I think they may rotate what they make. Is SK the maker of those punches or are they rebadged from someone else? If they're rebadged, SK might not have to funds or the inclination to buy warranty replacements from another company that they're not selling.

Why do the crowfeet have to be SK? What about Proto, KD, Armstrong, and others?

Whenever I need one, I ask my co-worker to lend me his. He's got that same SK set. The finish is nice, and they are good quality crowfeet. I guess thats why.

Didnt think they'd last too long when they left the Facom family.

I was checking out this very item recently. Every on line retailer/reseller says not available, but SK's own site says in stock. :headscrat

They look nice. I was tempted to buy a set. So are they available or not?

they are very nice. i picked up the phone and asked in person. no stock left. like many other sights i doubt it is very current. will we see these starting to bring big money on ebay?

i like their stuff, i have been personally trying to keep sk in business. i spent a lot on their tools lately. sure-grip drivers, tuff 1 ratchets, files, specialty plier set, extension sets. i hope they stick around but i don't think the future looks good for them.

7 months means they don't even make 2 runs a year. If it takes 7 months to get a replacement tool, that's hardly worth paying ANY premium for

Dunno Harlan - I still got mine and will keep using them as long as I can. I don't intend to sell any of them. :dunno:

the sets of sockets are all over ebay. I have 4 on there myself. 3/8 drive 12 point sae.
They are not selling for some reason. SK impact sockets go fast, but the chrome sets are not moving.

i would watch it before you say stuff like that, did you read any of the **** sk management was pulling. Three sides to every story.

The sk could not help that there insurance firm dumped health care for employee's. It's not like sk said o-well ***** to be you and went on with business. From what I have been reading that was why the union went on strike, if you have more information please pm me with it or send the links.

Where are you getting this info? :headscrat SK still offers them on their website. In fact, my local tool store just got 3 or 4 new sure grip sets in last time I was there. To my knowledge, they offer both the hard handles and the trimold series.

Is SK virtually doomed? If so would anyone likely buy them out (ex: Danaher or SO).

With spotty product avail, lack of dealers and poor customer service in an intense competitive market how long can they keep going?

i have my sources. :spit: one being my price list wich has coo and info on discontinued part numbers. 40 or 50 pages if i recall. a quick phone call to sk verified my statement before i made it. some distibuters may have nos in their inventory wich may explain why your local store just recieved some. as far as the website. lots of websites are out of date and difficult to navigate, not just sk's. just fyi the sure grips were made in france and the tri grips are made in slovenia.

Interesting...this does not bode well for their screwdriver sales. The selection in the trimold series is piss-poor. :( In the sure grips, they had just about every configuration you could want.

My dealer orders directly from SK, so maybe they got a deal on them if SK was trying to clear stock...

And yes, I am fully aware of the shortcomings of tool manufacturer websites...it seems like SO and Matco do the best job of updating them. Every one else is pretty slow.

Regarding COO...most of the sure grips were made in France, but a few of the super long ones were US made.

Perhaps we should form a Garage Journal members' take over bid?
