Andy: my day is already better knowing that I can read a few words that you've posted and that you will be posting again.

WELCOME BACK!!

speaking of 2020 i need to get a new pair of glasses cause I use mine more like safety glasses and wipe gunk and stuff off them on my shirt or a rag and they are getting all scratched up. that said they still work and i'll try to use the new ones for reading and use the old ones in my garage and house. this getting old and having new equipment to wear is taking some getting used to.

BTW it's been a bit warmer, but maybe cause we had steady winds up over 30 and gusts to high 60's on new years eve and the big fireworks show was cancelled. I never know what to expect for the day's weather when I wake up, but this time of year it's usually 40's and raining or snowing and below freezing.

BIG CHEERS and hope you have a great day

Hi, Andy!

i would say you never left because very many people have been thinking about and praying for you and your late wife. Still it is nice to see you being here and write again.

What are your plans for the lumber you will cut?

Your thread is invariably a bright spot in any day it appears. I am probably not alone in feeling I do not need nor expect a personal response. Just want to acknowledge your efforts so as not to be a mere "Lurker."

Andy, it is good to hear from you. As with many here you have been in my thoughts and prayers daily. Wishing you a Happy New Year. Looking forward to the new projects this next year you will generously share with us.

Thank you. I plan to recap some of the things I have done this fall. nothing spectacular but stuff nonetheless.

Welcome back Andy!

2020 is already l o o k i n g like it's going to be a fantastic year!
Missed your insight, and your wisdom with a spat of wit
not to mention your old fashion work ethnic.

Thank you. It's feeling good.

I am pretty certain everyone on hrre is only too happy to see you posting up Andy.

Continue at your own pace my friend.

Sorry to let you down Andy.

For some reason my Youtube channel has not let me upload for a few months now.

It keeps referring me to my phone Settings and once there, nothing I do lets me upload.

Maybe someone on here has advice on how to get it working

Sorry to put you on the spot. You have done so much for me. I had a lady here working today so I was inside and managed to get it uploaded.

Andy,
As others have said I look forward to seeing what you are up to for the coming year. So many 2020 jokes to make this year, and next you can look back on this year and say hindsight is 2020.:lol_hitti

My optometrist is depressed. Says all his patience are seeing 2020 today.

Thanks Drives! It appears we are having weather. But it is all nice. 52F when I came out of Zumba tonight at 8:00.

Welcome back Andy, you were missed. Hope you have a better 2020.

I've never had a 2020, so I guess this will be the best one. Even better than 2019.:lol_hitti

Good news to have you out and about Andy. Hope to visit with you in person this decade! Me thinks it's about time I made my way there.

It's past time. Rian has made it twice. You would be welcome most anytime.

Welcome back Andy!
I am very happy about your return.

Seems I'm rushin' a lot lately. That not always a bad thing. I cherish the nested cubes you made for me.

Welcome back Andy. Thank you for all that you have done for this community of misfits.

Thanks, and I will not take offense that you insinuated that when I'm around the misfits look normal. Hey! At least I have a purpose.

good to see you posting again. It will be great to read your exploits again.

Thank you!

I have been surprised by the activity on this thread. I have lurked often but just did not have the energy to post. It is coming back.

What a great way to start off the day and year, reading a post from our favorite brother. Happy New Years Andy!!!!

Many mini thanks, Shorty!

Hi, Andy! Happy New Year! Just watched the Chevelle video a few seconds ago. It was great! Makes me wish my '66 was closer to being on the road. Thank you.

Unfortunately you have to watch close and the sound is not real good. I was driving with one hand to take the video. But it moves along pretty good. There is loose sand on the curve coming up.:shocking:

Care to share the link?

Now that's a resolution I can get behind.

:pimpflash

Repeat after me.

"I am a lurker. I can do more."

Andy, great to hear from you.

Dwight

Thanks, Dwight!

I'm thinking about a spring get together here to try to meet some of the local GJ misfits. Let's see a show of hands.

Andy - it made my night when the Chevelle video popped up in my YouTube feed. Every time I swept my garage floor these last several months, I'd say a little prayer for you and your family. Looking forward to more posts and videos of your antics... er, um... projects this year.

You never left us, Andy. :)

You are too kind!

:bounce::bounce::bounce:

A little history. My wife Sharon was succumbing to the results of the treatment for a malignant brain tumor 12 years earlier. She was the nicest person I have ever met. In 40 years of marriage I never heard her say a harsh word about anyone else. Astounding.

As she got worse, we called hospice. They were incredible. The first day the cavalry showed up.

attachment.php

It was stressful for me. Hershey and I walked every morning when help arrived to sit with Sharon.

attachment.php

They brought a bed which we put in the living room so she could see her hummingbirds, flowers, and trees.

attachment.php

And, her Rose of Sharon bush was in full bloom and within view.

attachment.php

She had happy days there.

attachment.php

And lots of company. Here is her little sister sharing a laugh. I call it sharing with Sharon.

attachment.php

Hospice told us we could have called much sooner. They estimated she had less than a week to live. She was at peace knowing heaven awaited her. Knowing we had called hospice let her know it was ok with us for her to go on, that it was ok to give up this life's struggle. It is a hard gift to give someone, to tell them it is ok to die, but it is a kind gift for them. She was never alone and smiled until she passed on to new life and a healthy body in heaven, praising a visible God Almighty!!

Andy: I can't imagine how hard that might have been to post, but I can tell if there were more people in the world like you and Sharon it would be a much better place.

after i finish typing this i'm going to find that Youtube video and watch it.

Andy, no one can ever say "I know how you feel", but be assured there are people walking the same path with you. Go at your own pace, do what you want, let the emotions go unchecked at times. The hardest thing for me was to accept that no how hard I tried, life would never be the same. I was fortunate enough to have a son-in-law that treated me as though I was normal, even though my total being was a wreck. Do some of the things you used to do, even though it may feel foreign (my first step in a year of recovery was getting on my motorcycle and riding to my daughter's house). I was also fortunate to have a large group of friends on an online forum (I love older IHC Cub Cadets). Your pictures of your wife brought back some 10 year old memories (and, yes, tears) partially knowing a little of your pain, a little of my memories from my time of loss, but also some empathy at seeing another guy who has lost the most important thing in his life making that effort to pick up and move ahead..
Be well, Andy

Thank you! I need the prayers. Yes, projects, no antics.

Thanks for the comment. It was a stressful time but not too hard one day at a time. Things are looking up.

Thank you for your heartfelt reply, Gerry. It is amazing how much comfort Forum Friends can be. I am having very good days with very bad minutes here and there. I thought I was ready to post about her, and have to before I can move on, but I cried like a baby.

Sorry, I cried like a cranky old man. Very quietly but it's hard to stop when it hits. It kinda wakes up all the losses and brings them back to the forefront. Poor little mouse drowned before he could finish his treat.

Andy good to have you back. Not surprised to see how many pages I have had to turn after only a few days of not visiting. It has taken great restraint for me not to pick up the phone. Hospice is incredible. We sat with my dad for his last three weeks without leaving his home but the help and support they gave us, and sharing in your loss, has brought tears to my eyes. We are all truly connected in a special way. Too bad most of us have to get old to realize it. You have just completed your finest build. It took half a lifetime, but what tools you have acquired in this testament to love. Bobby

Andy: I logged on for a quick look at GJ last night and saw you made your first and second post as ANDY MARTIN then I think they disappeared. then posts came up later as OLDIRONFARMER and I knew the world was right again.

WELL it is SATURDAY so why not take a little trip.

our door is open, but not sure I have a spot other than the couch cause our daughter and her 4 cats are here for another month until she moves into her new home. that said i'd be happy to meet you for a meal if you are close to us.

SAFE TRAVELS and guessing you are going someplace cold with 2 suitcases cause all you'd need to go to Florida with is your bikini.

BTW remember we know you as OLDIRONFARMER, but we all love ANDY so log on as you are able and we always enjoy your good words.

Reading through the last few pages brought tears to my eyes a couple times. Thank you for sharing Andy. It feels good to read your words again and I'd imagine it feels good to share your world with us again. I know we are all ready when you are for whatever adventures your life brings us through your camera and keyboard !!

Lets see who has figured this out yet.

What happened between early morning today and now?

Other than 1900 miles.

Our man on the run.

And the prize for today.
