There is a guy that has four Lista cabs, they have huge deep drawers, I made an offer, but he said he wasn’t ready to take any less than asking price. Who knows, may end up with those.

I am going to HF in the morning to buy a jack and an oil drain, the jack is actually for the SG, the oil drain will be nice for the lift, especially being able to evacuate the oil using shop air. I need to have things cleaned up by Tuesday night, we have some weather coming for Wednesday and I would like Perk inside so I can get on swapping the rear gears.

After looking at things, I am going to spend more money on a better oil drain, I can't justify the cost difference, but I feel this will be a buy once, cry once, situation. The HF unit gets fine reviews, but seeing it in person, I think it will not be as nice as I would like. Like I said this is not a justification type situation, I feel like I won't regret it long term and that is what I am going by.

How can you stab HF in the back like that?
Sometimes you just can not quantify the reason but spending for a better product just works out.
I had gotten so many cuts from burrs left on HF sheetmetal stuff it was so lack of QC. Having produced many parts and items for clients I was very proud of not turning out items that made people bleed. In racing if you left a burr or sharp edge it would bite you by cutting a wire or causing some damage at a time not convenient.

Anyway on line reviews are not the best method of decision making since they edit and publish only good ones.

Off to the race hill in a hour.

Some things from there do what needs to be done, if I was on a tight budget the oil drain would have been fine, but I intend to own this drain for a long time and the better quality of the John Dow unit is what I want. There is a reason the HF unit is a third of the cost of the JD, I might never understand what that reason is and I am OK with that.

Been cleaning up and sorting things at TH, need to take a trip over to my Dad’s shop and drop off a bunch more stuff. I should have enough room to establish a couple locations for the Lista cabinets, will be nice once I can get his tool boxes out as well as the old shelving. The steel rack will be a day long project all its own. I am not sure when, but probably later this summer, I will end up either moving one of my shopping containers up here or buying another one. I think the steel will get a dedicated wall for storage in there. Shop space is tighter than I am used to due to the wall dividing the two bays, guess I am going to need to figure out how to handle that as I go. I wanted to remove the wall entirely, but the plumbing and sewer lines are down the middle of it and I am not sure I can easily rework that.

Got the burb loaded, should be the last load, the rest is going on the Quonset hut or “elsewhere”.

There is a pile of recycling, will have a full load of trash too.

Cleaned up some room for the first Lista cabinet.

The rest of the mess, midstream.

Unloaded the burb at Dad’s shop, now I am loading up the gang boxes that are full of bins and parts. Nice to be able to use Perk. :)

Looks like you are making great progress. You had commented about the couple of gallons of used oil in the barrels and the best way to get out. Can you bring one inside at a time and put a tank/car (magnet style) heated on each one to warm up the oil? Unless of course if they are plastic it will not work.

I am not sure I like this one here, but will need to leave it for now and see what it feels like.

Last one will be a tomorrow endeavor, need to remove more stuff from the shelves, then remove the lowest shelf to fit the Lista in.

I swear someone is trying to get me to buy a truck. This one truck I was looking at was $3500, then $3000, now just dropped to $2500. If it was closer, I would have bought it already. I am trying to stay strong, I need another truck like I need another hole in my head. If I was going to buy something, it should be another 4x4 forklift.

I am working on fixing Perk and getting the details ironed out on the hydraulics. Once I get that done, I need a trailer, then I can use that setup to start acquiring things. ;)

It won't do anything special, I just wanted to toss the knuckle boom from the Ford F700 on it. I would continue to use it at the SG as a boom truck, the Ford is getting repurposed into a dump truck for my Brother. Here is the truck and yes it is propane powered too:

nice looking truck.

So you won't have to do any mods to it for the boom? Engines, trannys, tires?

Your mind is always going, good for you.

No one wants a propane powered truck. It already has a PTO and air brakes too. Automatic transmission too. It is a couple hours away, I really think I need to go and see it. Truck is a 2007 too. Former propane delivery truck, so lots of hours and miles, but propane engines run so clean that they don’t get worn out like a regular gas engine.

I talked to the seller, they have three of them almost identical. I am going down there to look them over. I really think it is a deal that will be very beneficial long term, have also looked into converting back to gasoline and it is totally doable, for now propane is fine, I have been using the other one, just had to set it up for forklift tanks. At least this one isn’t a Ford, that will help improve my ratios.

OK, here is my solution, I am headed to Connecticut on Saturday to look at a bus with a freeing (for him), on the way back I will look at these trucks and if there is still one available and if it is decent, I will buy one. If they are gone, then it is one less truck headache for me.

Bus is not for me, but I wanted to go to the junkyard that is selling it, they have lots of parts, might have transmission harness I can use for the big auto trans.

Luckily it won’t be a primary truck, but if it doesn’t run or drive well, I am not getting it. I am only looking for a yard truck, this looks nice and doesn’t appear to be rusty, plus, if the engine craps out it is a very easy and relatively inexpensive engine to get.
