I have an advantage over your grandfather. It is virtually impossible for me to hit my fingers with a hammer. I did buy a Dead On hammer with a magnet in it to take the place of my fingers.

I just figured you held nails with your toes. Doesn't having hammers instead of fingers make it hard to do detailed work???:pimpflash

Laughter is the best medicine so keep laughing! Beside that take care
Great, now I am going to get bills from comedians.

Steve, you bring up a good point. Back in 1975, when the nurse came out to tell me my elbow was fractured, I heard a familiar voice say "Don't look at me, I'm not wiping your ****!" Amazing how much a chuckle can make it hurt.
I am working on taking it easy. It came back to bite Liane today. On her daily inspection of the grounds, she noticed a banana plant was about to fall over. As she said "You need to cut it down...." I gave her that: "Are you sure you want me to do that?" look.
That is hilarious.

Bob: your sense of humor is in great shape so hoping your health steps back up to match it.

breaking your arm and your wife's comment had me laughing almost as much as you not tying the back of your hospital gown. :lol_hitti

take care and hope the helpers can fix their schedules and your shed.

That is hilarious.
Uncle Willie, what is this "detailed work" of which you speak? Rian [Grizz1963] has wisely stated: "If you can't fix it with a hammer, you have an electrical problem."

When you get that bill from your primary care comedian, pay it with a fortune cookie.

Liane has a great sense of humor (I hope).

Drives, this is all a side effect of having too much boring free time. Liane will be begging me to get better and back to work before they even start the procedure.
I love this thread. A good chuckle is a great way to start a Sunday morning.
Kirk, I appreciate that, especially coming from a TV star.

Bob, thanks so much for visiting and dropping off those kind words. You must be getting anxious for the weather to turn so you can get the Mustang out of its cocoon.

Dang, Bob, I had so much fun with Don I wanted to visit another three letter friend. Bret has too many letters so I thought about you.

Now you're going to die on me before I get there.

Have some compassion, man, don't do it yet.

I have severe PVC which seems to make me act like the crappy pipes in your chest. Mine is Pre Ventricular Contraction. They wanted to do the 98% trick on me but having a 2% chance of not being able to take care of Sharon sounded too high. Now that nobody needs me I'm ready to "just do it". (Is that trademarked? Am I in trouble?)

OK, here's the plan. I'll drive straight to your place and we'll negotiate a group plan. They can stick one of us then the other and only have to scrub up one time. I bet we can save some cash. Are you in? Do our blood types match? Do you have Hepatitis like me? If so we're safe to use the same scalpel. Mom would be proud.

Give me a call and we can exchange insurance information.

Thank you Matias. I'm taking it easy with only one small project at the moment.

Andy, sounds like we have one good heart between us. Either we share and one of us has a really bad heart and the other has a good one. I do recall Mom calling us heartless bastards so I guess we should have listened.

I bet we have the same blood type. Last I checked mine was the red type but I have heard there's the white type as well. Not sure about the Hepatitis I think my doctor gave me a shot of it about six months ago and says I need another. You can never have too much Hepatitis.
I forgot to ask, is your garage as big as Don's? I got some really good stuff when he wasn't looking.
My dream garage is a little bigger than Don's but the wide awake nightmare one is tiny. You're welcome to anything I have except the broom, trivet and QST Medallion. A really great friend gifted me those and I would really miss them. You can try to ****** the Andy Martin broom but your cause of death won't show up in the autopsy. Liane is very attached to the broom and gives me an ugly look if I try to use it.

I highly approve of Andy's roadtrip to Florida to re-unite with his long lost GJ brother! I don't know why but I just do. A bit like when sport heroes get together for the ultimate game or something.

Besides the photos and the pies should be good and Andy can help do up Bob's hospital gown. Though I fear for the rest of the ward... death by hysterical laughter is quite contagious! :bounce:

PS. Is hepatitis anything like herpatitis? :lol_hitti

PPS everybody knows PVC makes for crappy pipes. They'll shatter and take your eye out. Don't you have some copper lying around? :headscrat :spit:

Bob: How's the ticker? hopefully you are doing better or maybe you are feeling 100% and just waiting for Liane to leave for a bit so you can get back to work.

for you to even try to tie your hospital gown is amazing cause i know i can't do it with two arms. thankfully I haven't been in a hospital for maybe 5 years now when the doctor removed my dead gallbladder.

Hey Bob, glad to hear your doing good.
I see you survived the falling frozen lizards.
Craig, I'm feeling fine and looking forward to having the Ablation done. I'm trying not to think about the recovery as I understand the lifting limit is a couple of sheets of paper. At least I don't have to worry about getting clearance to get back to the job.
Good, Bob. I'm making a swing around to pick up unused aluminum hammers to gift the needy.

You heartless *******. Nobody knows who's a ******* like Mom.
Andy, if you can find my hammer, you can take it but if you put it in your car or luggage, I WILL FIND IT AND TAKE IT BACK (while you're in the ER for touching Liane's broom). As to my hammer being "unused," it's going to take some time with a file to bring it back to pristine.

Eugene, Andy is pretty reliable when it comes to strangers but family members are careful to take everything with a dose of salt (actually very tiny doses at my age). If and when he shows up we may just hide and not answer the door.

Those hospital gown photos won't be the worst ones every taken but they deserve a secure hiding place, maybe in the box with the Ark:

I had to look up herpatitis and now I'm thinking it's possible I caught it a long time ago.

"The condition arising when one has contracted both herpes and hepatitis through overindustrious ****** activity. Note that this excludes, for example, simple cold sores and non-****** forms of hepatitis such as hep A."

Not sure when overindustrious last described any aspect of my life but it's beyond my recall.

I think Medicare Advantage plans only pay for PVC stents in the patient's heart so I expect to see a class action law suit ad any day now.

Drives, even when I had Atrial Flutter my ticker seemed fine, just different. My days of waiting for my body parts to die before mentioning it are over. Liane isn't kidding about killing me if I even come close to dying before she does. She said something about not being afraid to go back to prison.

Were you watching our house? The day I pruned the tree and before my latest round of Atrial Flutter started I ordered the shingles for the shed roof. They dropped off the pallet in the driveway and it sat there for more than a week. Five minutes after Liane left for her nail appointment I had the hand truck out and moved the shingles to the back yard. The 12 bundles of architectural shingles and the bundle of ridge cap shingles are neatly stacked next to the shed.

Liane didn't notice the missing pallet until the next morning on her yard inspection tour. In anticipation of the flogging, I already had a fresh EKG printed out with the "Normal" instant analysis highlighted. No flayed back but but my leash is significantly shorter.

I have a really nice old police baton I will be glad to loan out if it will keep you in line.
Uncle Willie, the baton sounds better than the softball bat so it would be welcome. Your trailers, on the other hand, are not welcome. If Liane knew about them, she'd have my '72 Corvette dragged out of the garage while I'm on the toilet. I thought it was safe because the front and rear suspension are off the car (thus the wheels & tires can't be bolted on). If she she ever finds out you can drag it out on its frame rails....

You know the saying, it's easier to ask for forgiveness than it is to ask for permission. I try to keep in-mind the true statement, happy wife, happy life. I would rather try to avoid any controversy of any-sort within the marital-unit. Life is smoother.

Any time I've had to tie a hospital gown, I've been able to wrap those thin cords to the front and to secure it easily. If you find they're the plastic, disposable gowns instead of the reusable cloth gowns, another trick is to grab the cords close-to their ends, and to pull the cords. They stretch, and you will have plenty of extra length to shield from other people vacationing in their own flappy gowns in that expensive health resort.

As-for Uncle Wlly's comment about truncheons (I have a really nice old police baton I will be glad to loan out if it will keep you in line.), I find that the Asp https://www.asp-usa.com/collections/batons is a good tool for enforcing the useful workplace edict of, The beatings will continue until morale improves. I'm sure Lianne would find it useful, easily-concealed, and capable of causing prodigious amounts of pain. Think Kathy Bates and the sledge hammer, in Misery.

One of my favorite recent commercials is Tina Fey telling "Mayhem,""I can't believe you made someone I love!" when she is cautiously piloting her car, and "Mayhem" is playing the part of her mother-in-law. I hoot and holler every-time I see it.

Nah, snooker /pool balls in a sock, who's the daddy now. * :lol_hitti

Bob, just hope Liane hasn't a tazer, I can hear the defence now," he was already on the floor so I tried to restart his heart with 40,000 volts, honest officer."

* 1979 british film Scum, starring a very young Ray Winston.

Also a Steven Segal movie move (actually, a bar towel, not a sock, but the result is the same), I think that's one of my favorite scenes in any of his fights, the pool hall dust-up. Out For Justice https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0102614/?ref_=nm_flmg_act_54

Uncle Willie, the title is on parchment and quite delicate.
Dude, if Liane has to beat you and she goes to trial, we'll all testify in her defense.
Kirk, the list of witnesses is huge. She's had it leather bound.
Y'all need projects to do. Or cut down on the sugar or something.:willy_nil
Bobby, I'd be posting photos of all the projects I'm doing in my head but they are really fuzzy and out of focus.
You know the saying, it's easier to ask for forgiveness than it is to ask for permission. I try to keep in-mind the true statement, happy wife, happy life. I would rather try to avoid any controversy of any-sort within the marital-unit. Life is smoother.
"Honey, I'm sorry, you're right and I will never do that again." [Rinse and repeat.]

The challenge is to get both strings together and tie with one hand. For an exam I just leave it untied. If I'm going to be in the gown for more than a few minutes I tie it before putting it on -- they are quite roomy.

Mrs. Heine's weapon of choice is a wire coat hanger. The new ones are very thin and therefore quite effective in getting one's attention.

In the 1980s Liane and my mother drove from South Florida to New York and made the return trip without spilling blood. My mother drove a few miles-per-hour above the posted Speed Limit and Liane drove a few miles-per-hour above the posted Minimum Speed limit. That was the only road trip they ever took together. I believe Liane started collecting the names of character witnesses right after that drive.
But not much is as intimidating as someone walking in with a billy club.
Uncle Willie, Liane is like the truly vicious dog that attacks without a sound while you are looking away. You never see the weapon.

Steve, that's one of the reasons we never had a snooker/pool table and I hid her bowling ball in a very dark corner of the attic.

I sleep soundly but this is starting to worry me....

Philip, thanks for that Segal reminder -- I'm going to put the corkscrew in the bag with the bowling ball.
Is this thread off topic? Is there even a topic?
Uncle Willie, you're right. I'll get us back on track. I'm going to replace my galvanized pipe air lines with PVC. What's the best glue to use and what's the best pressure to test the setup. I have a small compressor good for 250psi. Also, is putting my ear to the PVC the best way to check for leaks?

We are following Bob thoughts and and wherever the drift too. 🤣
Gerard, y'all should pick up some Dramamine if you plan to follow my thoughts.

So Mr H, it appears I've been extra slack and have just caught up on 58 pages here over the last few days - an entire Bob year. Apparently in my last post at the end of 2018 indicated I was going to start on my shop saw carts - well maybe this year...

I see the zack rabbit and milwaukee soldering iron made the cut (both fine choices), I know where the mechanical pencils came from too

Sorry to hear about miss Ellie, and I'm not a fan of you stamping a hospital loyalty card either lately.

We've had some Florida style weather the last few weeks once the rain finally arrived and the other Saturday required no less than 4 t-shirts.

So rest up and get over this hump so you can show that corvette some chemical guys love at some point.

Bob: OMG you moved all that roofing from the front of your house to the back? GEESH I'm guessing you are feeling much better, but take it easy.

I love the solution of tying your hospital gown before you put it on. GENIOUS!!

take care and hope you are feeling better every day.

GB & All: there is a setting on GJ in your personal profile where you can set the views per page to 100 posts that really makes it easier to read some long threads. So Bob's thread is only 48 great pages of his adventures and great stories.

Happy Valentines all

Rod, your absence was noted but it's a positive thing -- you have a life! The Garage Journal is a wonderful but time-consuming place. Pretty sure all the money I've saved not eating out has been 'invested' in tools.

Thanks for the condolence, she's still here in our hearts. I'm not a fan of hospitals either since it's full of germs and sick people. Unfortunately my doctors won't perform surgery in my garage, not even in a fresh Dexter booth!

I rarely put on a fresh T-shirt because it is soaked so quickly. The excess sweat just works its way down to my pants and eventually shoes (when I wear them). It's like swimming in a swamp with your clothes on.

Drives, I move heavy things in increments. Lift a corner of the bundle and slide it onto the hand truck. Lift the corner on the other end and slide the rest of the bundle onto the truck. No more than two bundles on the hand truck and roll it down to the site. Unload it the same way, half a bundle at a time. I think the heaviest lift is 40 pounds. Aside from a little osteoarthritis my back is fine as are the rest of my joints. I feel better than I expected I would at 75.

Most of the stuff I do is pretty simple but sometimes not for public display. When I wore a hook every day it was hard to get the grease and dirt off my hand so I could go in the house to use the facilities. Used to take off my shoe and sock and put my foot in the garage laundry sink and then use it to clean my hand. Now that I rarely wear the hook, the stump does the job my foot used to do. It's a good thing because the garage laundry sink in this house is higher than normal.

I am outside for about .4576 seconds and I am drenched, that lasts from about Feburary 20 til October 3 then we get a few cooler days.

I never thought about how a one armed person washed their hands. I never would have thought of a foot being involved. Now if someone would just tell me how a blind person knows when they are done wiping their ****???

Off the rails again OMG.

Bob no more pics of your limp ruler please. Also, hope your weekend is as great as my Friday. I’m sure it will be.

Uncle Willie, my Scandinavian blood prefers cooler weather as well. I'm acclimating slowly to living in an oven but it never gets cold enough to keep me from sweating. When it gets below 0*C (32*F) it stops.

My blind neighbor wasn't worried about the wiping. It was more about washing hands really well -- he put his left index finger inside the glass when pouring a drink to tell when the glass was full.
Philip, sounds like you had a nasty blind friend but it makes sense. Reminds me of the kid who comes out of the bathroom licking his fingers and says "Mom, we're out of toilet paper."

Stewart, you have to admit 41 inches limp is not bad.

I'm prepared for the weekend. Got up early to sprinkle flower petals on the driveway. They're orchids.

In Florida or at least South Florida it is customary to welcome guest with flower petals on the driveway. I’m sure it’s a lot safer then giving a guy a nice lei.

I knew you Floridians were nuts, but flowering a driveway??? Although I guess that is better than deflowering it:shocking:
Uncle Willie, all the nutso stories in the news start with "Florida man...." In New York I sprinkled roofing nails on the driveway to discourage guests from making a return visit.

Drives, Andy surprised me on Saturday. We talked about his visit on the phone and he mentioned he was doing a lot of walking, averaging 17 minutes per mile. I calculated his trip and it looked like he would arrive sooner than Google Maps predicted. By my calculations he would be arriving in just 399 hours. Walking 12 hours a day he would be at my door in late March/early April. Turns out he drove his easy-to-miss school bus yellow Toyota FJ Cruiser

I take terrible photos so Andy was the cameraman. I thought he could use a 5-gallon bucket of mayonnaise so we went to Costco.

Unfortunately Andy's FJ Cruiser was already full of things he "picked up" in Tallahassee on the way to my place. A lot of nice stuff.
