your church is looking very well built and I bet it was a PITA moving around that bell and steeple while you were making everything plumb and square.

The church is done for now. I need to get a few projects finished for the party garage 's party schedule. March 14 is our annual P.P.G. paint Co. party
and we are sponsoring a gas bash (a gas and oil swap meet) on April 17-18 so I need to concentrate on work in the shop.

Today was a full day working on the Alemite bench parts
The top and small side pieces are straightened and in primer tonite.

Don: when things go in your paint booth they sure come out looking a whole lot better. you even make garbage cans look like a million dollars.

I think I saw you primed the Penzoil oil base too while you were priming your Alimite.

i'm not sure I could live in your shoes for even a day with all that you do and have going on, but i'd sure like to see everything you have on a daily basis.

You are correct, you did see the Pennzoil sign frame primed again.
Today I managed to get color on it and also a little black paint on some of the Alemite bench panels.

The bench will be red, yellow, and black. since I already had black paint in my gun I sprayed the back side of the 3 piece top door of the bench. I'll be painting the front of them when I do the 2 pillars.

Yesterday I put the Pennzoil sign together so now it is time to send it out to get the letters on the base painted yellow and get a couple of pin stripes .

Those shinny buttons holding the sign together are stainless steel 2 sided screws (a head on both sides) They will go black when I touch up a couple of spots on the base before it goes to the pin striper for the final touches.

Today's project was to get some more work done on the Alemite bench.
I'm doing the work in sections.
First the bench was completely disassembled, then the work started on the top of the box.
It is now repaired, primed, blocked, and reprimed, ready for the final sanding then red paint will be sprayed on it. Maybe tomorrow.

Next was the 4 side pieces. each one was worked for dents and scratches
Then primed and blocked then reprimed and final sanded now ready for the red paint.

The next section to tackle was the center back peg board section
It was sprayed yellow today and will carry the Pennzoil logo for all to see when the paint is dry enough for the sign painter to play with it.

I’m amazed at how much you use the scissor lift has a work bench. Definitely was a smart install. Can’t wait to see the shiny black bench.

New owner got it painted so when you make trip East, we can just hang out.

The lifts are my best tools in the shop. When they are down they are flush with the floor so I can drive over them. The best thing about them is the adjustable heights. I do a lot of sitting while working. lol
I have one in the doorway of the shop and one in the spray booth

I'm pretty happy with the way things are turning out with this Alemite bench.
This one is my second one to restore and I have a few more that need attention.

Painting is made easier with high quality material and I'm using the best on the market (P.P.G.) and we are hosting their annual company party next Saturday and I'd like to have this project on display for that night.

Today I got side tracked by a couple of really good friends. They dropped by to help clean the party garage and help get it ready for next Saturday's party
So as long as I had good help we did spring cleaning (dusting EVERY display and washing every glass). Next is to pull all the cars out of the garage and clean and mop the floors before setting up tables and chairs to serve 300 people.

I did manage to get primer on both bench uprights this evening

The alemite bench is almost ready to reassemble.
I have all the paint work complete the uprights and front door panels are now painted black and Monday will start the reconstruction of the unit

I have to admit I'm jealous of the Alemite work station, I have always wanted one! I did bid on one once but stopped at $1600.00 and I would of had to drive all the way to New York State to pick it up.

I've made a little more progress on the Alemite project.
I put lights in the front and top of the bench back section. The front molding is polished and mounted back on the bench, and the red top has been buffed to a high shine

Thanks for dropping by.
The polishing process is a little touchy. First if I have any dirt or runs in the fresh paint I nib those areas with 1000 grit (dry)paper on a 1" disc. Then I take 1500 grit wet sanding paper and wrap it around a sanding pad and with a spray bottle of soappy water I lightly sand the surface until the orange peel is 80% flat then change the sanding pad to 2500 grit paper and finish sanding out the orange peel.
The polish is a 3 step process with 3M products. 1st course compound (white foam pad) 2nd grey compound and a black foam pad) and last a blue pad with a finish glaze
Hope that's clear as mud

Well it's raining here so I worked on the alemite bench in the shop all day.

The work bench is striped and the body work is finished. I'm working on the doors next

The Alemite work bench is progressing. The back part of the bench is done and in place. Well almost done the peg board back is out getting the Pennzoil logo painted on it.

The work bench is in the booth with the body work done and the first coat of paint is sprayed. One of the bench doors was wadded up and looked like a bag of walnuts, It has been worked and is straight now and it is primed.

Because this bench will only be on display I don't think the stainless is necessary I will paint it up with a deep shine.

I used zolatone on a project years ago and always wanted to try it again but haven't got the project that suits it. Can't wait to see your use of it and hear more about it if you get the chance.
